    I'd like to point out that spraying the coils with soapy water prior to combing them out greatly helps the process. Just something I've learned from trial and error. Good video! Thanks!

      That’s a great recommendation. I’ll keep that in mind when I do any fin straightening in the future.
      👍🏻 Thanks!

    Your face and voice is kind, eat to follow. I'm a mom, severe health conditions terminal. 34 this year but I enjoy fixing everything is my body can with stand it. Last week shattered brake fluid resivor, right before that Lazer key broken inside ignition. This week hvac condensor, had to fix control board, now time to make her work like she should so I'm not dying in the heat in between health ups and downs. I have brain damage and adhd amongst more things abuse, ect. Long story short I talk too much, sorry for the long bs comment. Just person to person sometimes it's the comfort a person offers during an explanation that really matters with some people like me. Can't say I've ever commented before, kids usually on my UA-cam. Just felt like better late then never. Thank you again :-) super excited to finish her up and move to next thing, hopefully off the list of to do then having something new! Lol. 😊

    Man that was amazing. We had an hail storm here in Va. recently and same thing happened to mine. I have an RV tips and adventure channel too. Even though i am handy, i have never had to make this kind of repair. The details that you ran through were absolutely amazing. I cant wait to get my fin tool in and make my reapirs. Oh and a video too of course. Thanks for the inspiration. Great job here. Most defininetly subscribed to your channel because of your support. Keep up the good work.

      Hey Tom! I’m doing ok. Lots going on getting ready to launch my mobile RV repair and inspection business October 1st. How are you guys doing? Back in Texas? Crazy summer for you guys with the Jeep and RV issues. Glad it’s all worked out well. Tiffin and Cummins handled that well for you and you all handled the whole ordeal with grace. 👍🏻
      You guys sure got to see some beautiful country.
      Hey to Stacie and Star!
      Cheers,
      Jeff

    Only wish you had demonstrated it, just wondering how damaged yours were compared to mine. Great info though!

    Have you considered doing a before and after test with a flow meter? You might not think that metal grading makes much of a difference with restricting airflow, but I'd say it does, to the point I'm planning on trimming some white slats off my cover. Theres a YT video about it.

      I no longer have this air conditioner but I did perform a before/after delta-t test.
      The air conditioner performance increased after the fin straightening and screens installed. A difference of about 8-10°F

    Good info amazing how quick the amp draw goes up if fins bent and or dirty

      Yep, these things aren’t very efficient to begin with. They really need to be maintained a couple times per year.

    Can you provide a link to the tool and the screen you used? I'm trying to find a screen with a slightly bigger holes but I'm having no luck

    What if the fins are so Smashed together I can't get the comb thru them? Are the fins replaceable?

    Shouldn't this same principle be applied to a home unit? I just had an A/C tech tell me that my unit isn't long for this world because of coil damage.
    (He only came out to assess my duct seals, which are shot).

    Your ac unit looks loose on the roof.

      It was not. I just removed it a few days ago to re-deck the roof. Why do you say it looked loose in the video?

      @@covetthecamper2289 I could see it move around on your roof. I had the same problem and all the bolts tying the exterior unit to the interior control were loose. It was leaking when it rained and that’s how I found out it was loose on the roof.

    There wasnt engough restriction to cause heat transfer inefficiency.

    • @covetthecamper2289
      @covetthecamper2289 Рік тому

      You have the right to your opinion, but…
      The fact is, that amount of fin damage was actually enough to cause some restriction in air flow which a Delta T test proved.
      From 12° before to to 20-22° after fin straightening.

    Only an American company would install it that way. The weakest link, the ac fins, facing the driving direction of the vehicle. What are they thinking!?

    • @covetthecamper2289
      @covetthecamper2289 2 роки тому +3

      The condenser fins are at the rear of the ac. Not the front.
