I think your the first Ac Tech iv ever seen actually to do something in the field of repairing an ac system or preventable maintenance task in my entire 55 years of life. Bravo for setting a better example then what most techs can do for a home owner who kid probably did the damage thinking it was interesting. Iv seen sprinkler heads do that kind of damage.

What an amazing video! So many techs DON'T want to comb fins, just replace units. Thank you for this great video! Amazing assistant you got there!!!! Happy 4th!

I love your videos! Recently got back into the HVAC Industry. It is good to note that the top portion of the condenser coils will have the hottest refrigerant coming off of the compressor discharge. In the condition of those coils after operating in frozen conditions, One might suggest putting two defrost sensors in parallel.

You make me so envious that I did not learn a trade such as HVAC repair. I don't know what the two pressure guages are interpreting, but I really enjoyed this video. Thank you for creating and posting it. I truly enjoyed it.

I am from India! Liked your video! I like the DIY attitude of US people in general. The good thing is because of this unique DIY you have the tools to do everything! We in India employ mechanics for every job. Here labour is cheap but the main reason is most Indian do not like DIY. Here comes the big difference! We don’t try and don’t invent!

That's funny. I have an Indian friend who explained this to me because I asked her why her family was not really handy around the house. That culture difference never even occurred to me. Here in north america, labor is the most expensive thing, so homeowners try to take care of things when possible.

I just ordered both combs off amazon.
These tools will enable me to do an easy peasy DIY repair on the bent fins on my ac.
I experienced information overload when you brought up Head Pressures at the end. I wish you would have, in plain english told us how many degrees cooler the air was as it came out of the air outlet vent compared to B4 straightening the fins.

What works the best on fins is a stiff bristle brush. Cleans fins and straightens them out with zero damage or expense.

Taddy, This winter when you energize "Y" and "W" at the same time (defrost or aux ht), you will be sending one leg of power to both Med Hi (Blue) and High (Black) Speeds simultaneously. I would guess you would get abnormally high current draw. Possibly 5-6A. I normally use the larger relay and energize only one speed.
Also American Standard heaters have the 24V common (C) from heat contactors go through that limit switch on heat kit, then through that larger blower relay second set of NO contacts then on to C side of transformer. This ensures the blower relay is energized BEFORE the heat contactors. It's a good idea on any rewiring of heat kits.

It appears that the fan is damaging the fins on the inside.
The only reason I can think of is from things dropping in through the top and the fan propelling them into the coil.
    Acorns must really raise hell.

Hi man, I have minor bents in a new Car AC evaporator which arrived today after waiting for 2 weeks. Does the small Bents affect the car AC system? Should I return it ? Bents are small but I am afraid it will cause damage. I hope someone can answer and help me. Last year I lost my Car's AC compressor, and condenser due to a bad evaporator which development mould in it & led to Black Death & destroyed the whole AC system. So I hope some can help with this question 🙏

    • @TaddyDigest

It depends on the extent of the damage on whether it would affect the performance or not
