What's inside the PROVENT 200 catch can.

- The valve which is built into the lid is an over pressure release valve....
in case your can is full of oil or blocked...the crankcase can still release the gas pressure through the lid so your engine doesn't suffer damage.
the valve on the lower part of the can....this valve is built onto the outlet hole of the can..... this valve seems to close when air is being sucked out of the outlet hole and all other holes on the can are sealed/blocked. In another video on youtube it says it is a for pressure regulation for the crankcase
• Mann Provent 200 Crank...
Seems weird to me, the Ryco Rcc350 catch can has the inlet on the bottom and outlet on the top.
To me, that seems more logical as oil would find it harder to travel up the can, allowing cleaner air to be put back into the engine.
Unless I'm not fully understanding the provent 200
The Provent 200 filter insert has bottom on lower side, the 100 and 150 versions have bottomless filters, so they work as you expected. Only provent 200 sucks gases from the top. This is due to oil draining issues
I think that that check valve will prevent backflow into the crankcase when the intake is under boost.
I know it's a check valve. i think it regulates the pressure/flow of gas for safety and efficiency.
boost or a back fire, either can blow out the engine oil seals if too high.
"When you suck on what",what blows- Sorry I got lost in the moment !!!!
Only when there is blow by gas going into the inlet is the outlet valve open.
Any chance removing the bottom valve? I dont like how it's only half way open I would like it to be free flowing as much as possible
Sam trebil no need to remove it. There is heaps of flow. I have 2 metres of drainhose which gets full of oil every 4000 km on my modern diesel van. It works fine.
Hi. Thanks for this video. Can you please indicate a place where I can buy this filter? I can't find it anywhere! It's strange that it's made in Germany but I could find it only in Australia :( Do you know a website in Europe where I can place an order? Thank you
Safeguard vent? It suppose to drain? Right
watched several videos, got me confused
You want these hose reducers. m.ebay.com.au/itm/Provent-200-Reducer-Adaptor-19mm-Mann-Hummel-Catch-Can/191856804642?epid=679523560&hash=item2cab8e8322:g:3iUAAOSw1DtXH-6Z I've found that my 2 metres of pvc drainage tube gets full of oil every 4000km. I've recently extended the hose to 4 metres. My drain hose started leaking where it attached to the catch can. I had to retighten it. Beware. Also don't let your drain hose get full. This catch can has no oil storage. All the storage is the drain hose. As i said i extended my drain hose but it might be a good idea to route the bottom of the drain hose into a holding container. The tubes attachment to a holding container must be sealed and air tight. I've got a cheaper aluminum catch can i was thinking of routing the drain hose into to hold more oil.
I used radiator coolant hose from supercheap auto for the in and out hoses of the catch can.
I bought 2 metal hose reducers from ebay. The adapters screw into the catch can until their Oring makes a seal.
I get a weird blow off kind of noise whenever I letting off my accelerator when my vehicle is cruising at around 20km/h with engine revving at around 1500-1800 rpm. There is no wastegate being installed and I only getting noise since I’ve installed a provent 200 catch can. Does your car gives you the same kind of noise as I’ve described?
The inlet is at the bottom on my Pro vent catch can. I think you made an error.
The ProVent 200 has the inlet on the top and the outlet on the bottom, with very big arrows cast into the casing denoting this. All original 200 versions have this setup. You either have a smaller version in which the porting is as you describe (100, 150) or you have a copy of the 200. Page 9 of this M&H PDF clearly shows the inlet of the 200 at the top oe-products.mann-hummel.com/fileadmin/user_upload/kataloge/kataloge-wartungsanleitungen-mann%2Bhummel/kurbelgehauseentlueftung/MANN_HUMMEL_Crankcase_Ventilation_EN.pdf
its a check valve
A check valve for what purpose exactly...???
@@Croozzen so it won't reverse flow, say u have it hooked up to a system where it sees vacuum and boost, it will close in boost and open in vacuum. So it only flows one way.
@@tomjw7 but normally it is directly connected to the intake so wouldnt be better to cancel provents pressure regulator valve or change it with stronger spring to stimulate normal operating condition?
Where can I buy it?
Andreas Halim : On ebay but make sure its real . There are fakes. The real ones are not less than $160 AUD
Its 310..
I saw these on idparts.com . www.idparts.com/mann-provent-200-p-2334.html . $140
