This test should be done with oil vapors not liquid. So it should look smoke coming into the catch can and if filtered properly, should have little to no smoke passing through the outlet.
Hey Ali, good video as always. But this generic type can increases crankcase pressure x4 and restricts blow by gas airflow. You"ll have oil leaks and expensive problems in the engine if you continue to use it. So i don't recommend this type. You should buy better oil cather. Provent 200 is much better. Stay safe.
It seems to suck air into the crankcase instead of crankcase blowing out. I'm not using pcv valve but the second outlet I tested it by bending the hose and it went quiet
depends how You hook it up and what kind of can, I've noticed alot of people with turbo cars installing one and only uses the turbo intake pipe as vacuum source I'm certain that increases crankcase pressure quite a bit on idle, but not drastic... I on the other hand went with OEM plumbing when installed mine, 2 exit ports one goes to the turbo intake pipe for on boost and the other to the intake mani for off boost, My CC pressure has a pretty good vacuum because of it, these kind of cans with sintered filter HAS to be connected to the intake mani as well to avoid pressure build up as the filter is quite restrictive
You can create a pcv system using a catchcan that vents to atmosphere under boost with multiple check valves, spring loaded. Boost closes the check valve redirecting the crankcase pressure towards the other check valve that leads to the filter. Obviously the check valve that isn’t closed by boost will have less resistance so the crankcase pressure gets vented that way, this system helps keep the vacuum under idle.
using a bronze filter like that can raise crank case pressures on boosted engines especially which can blow oil out of the engine seals. when the bronze filter element gets saturated in oil it raises crank case pressures. glad you didnt buy a element filter type catch can as those will def cause havoc quickly.
Hi man! What about the Crankcase pressure that lock this type of catch can with bronze filter. I read a lot about this type of catch can and people are complaining because this catch can can;t release the pressure of the crankcase like before and blow the VCG leading to oil leaks . I had on my BMW N52 engine like one day and after I read this I removed it. My purpose is to clean my intake and cylinder head from moisture and carbon deposit but I don't want to create more crankcase pressure. I want to hear you opion THX!
What most is concern is oil and carbon buildup in the intake port and intake valves. Still good to see the mishimoto clone filter out the compressed water vapor.
Very nice video..been trying to find a video like this for a while. A video where it shows before and after. Thats great to know it works so good. ive had one on my 2020 ford ranger since 4k miles. Im at 32k now. Im very curious to see how everything looks on the inside of my Ranger compared to videos ive seen on the Internet of direct injected engines with turbos.
I keep getting oil spraying out the breather filter with these. The 'in 'is from the rocker cover breather and' out' goes back to sump. Should I change them over or block one off?, I notice there isnt a filter inside it just a baffler.
Need to test with vacuum and vacuum with pressure, pressure alone will give misleading results. Vacuum only will be NA applications, vacuum with pressure will be boosted applications. Pressure only is not a use case.
The water spraying in and sitting was cold but its the heat inside catch-can creates the water from condensation, also the sitting water evaporates from heat build up inside and cause water into atmosphere inside adding to build up from condensation that's where water comes from not the crankcase pressure going in. Issue is condensation with catchcans.
This test should be done with oil vapors not liquid. So it should look smoke coming into the catch can and if filtered properly, should have little to no smoke passing through the outlet.
lejos el mejor video que existe sobre como probar un oil catch can, es excelente

Don't forget to clean the filter mechanism 🙏. Wonderful video

Not guaranteed you'll have leaks but the possibility to. Which is enough for me to stay with a simpler version and tweek it as needed.
why will it increase crankcase pressure ?
@@LevyHappyClapper @moremolecules did a similar video about crankcase pressure. He shows the pressure difference.
I have this and now I have oil leaks

Good video, thanks for sharing. - take care man
Thanks, you too!
Hi, what was the model of the Borescope you used please.
I'd be curious how much it increases the crankcase pressure.

There is a video about this. 1,5bar normal and pretty high almost 6bar now.

this is a good video - with tests and results
Thanks brother
Can you try making a negative pressure from the other opening to match the condition in the car?
good point. This test currently does not consider the engine vacume.
That's a great idea, sure I will do that too
@@AliMECHThanks, Any update on this test?
@@citizens8773can u tell me if i could use a catch can on my 2021 silverado 2.7 custom 1500? i cant find any info if my truck could use one? thanks u

There are other catchcans. From 1,5bar to almost 6bar with this is alot. Search the other one without gold filter.

Is catch can or air oil separator effective in Toyota Corolla 1300cc VVTI engine ?

Did it clean itself because of the can!?😮❤
Water didn't pass the gold restrective mesh but from bad sealing of hardware.
Great video!
Thanks!
Can you show where are the connection for an oil catch can for honda hrv 2017 that have r18 engine 1.8 L? Thanks

what about oil catch can every day full of water and creamy oil on top?
YOU are a True ❤ BLESSING 🙏 to those who choose to hear versus those who choose to listen:
2 very 'different' things. 🤨
Great demo
Thanks
Actually the real test is with oil vapours being pressurised through intake of the can
Thanks

Do you vacuum on the other side this shows nothing
Is this product good or bad? Does it work well or not??
Yes it works, I have same on 5 cars for now
I don't trust those bronze filters.
I can only see them becoming clogged and creating crankcase back pressure.
Oil would need to be at 240-250* F and then be totally vaporized. Its not atomized oil that is being ingested.

thank you very much!
You're welcome!
That brass screen will cause back pressure in engine! No thanks don't want to blow seals.
