- The wedding of Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex and Sophie Rhys-Jones took place on June 19, 1999 in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. The Queen's youngest child, Prince Edward, was created Earl of Wessex hours before the ceremony.
A lovely down-to-earth royal couple, hard-working and highly respected, and - after nearly 24 years of marriage - still very much in love. May God bless them both!
Edward and Sophie are lovely people. So nice to see how they have raised their children and been happy over the years.
It’s now 2022 and Sophie is revered as a phenomenal member of the royal family. She has proved to be the best bride.

Awww, now they do look very natural and very loving the way they looked at each other during the vows. No huge, false smiles here. And I loved the bit when Sophie arrived and looked around and smiled at the crowds. She looked beautiful.

Early in their marriage they tried to make money of their royal connections. They got caught and the meeting had been filmed. They were kept out of the spot light for a few years. Their are copies of the film on UA-cam.

This is the first time that I have watched this Royal Wedding. I loved the couple’s beautiful curtsey and nod to the Monarch and the Queen’s lovely smile. The flower girls and ring bearer children were dressed the cutest I have ever seen.

Prince Edward married a lovely lady who is very well-liked and respected.
Edward is the most handsome among his siblings. He is the one whose marriage is not a mess, and Sofie did not cause any grief to her in-laws.
There was an issue with her keeping her business after marriage and she had to close it There was also a controversy about a “topless” picture with a TV presenter here in the U.K. called Chris Tarrant(he was the host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire here in the U.K.). Sophie was a bit of a party girl before she settled down with Edward. The story was in the press just before they married. Apart from that they have had no issues or scandals since.

I am glad that I am looking back at this wedding. It is not the size of the wedding but the love that is in the hearts of those being wed. Sophie is very beautiful and dignified. Edward is an asset to the Royal Family as is his wife.
Edward is the only one of the Queens children who married well and has lived a truly normal life.. Kudos for them.

They have matured into dutiful, classy adults who wisely dodge the media while still carrying out royal duties. The “out for blood” British media thought that they were too boring too.

I watched the entire wedding in 1999 and have it on tape. I still enjoy watching it, this was my favourite Royal wedding.

I was in St. George’s chapel the day after the wedding. I was visiting England from Canada, and we were in Windsor the day after the wedding and went through the Chapel.
I'm always obsessed with a curtsy to the Queen!!!🙌👑

He was smart enough to wait until he and his then bride-to-be were sure of each other. He saw the holes his 3 older siblings fell down in and avoided to do the same mistakes.

I just re-watched part of Edward and Sophie's wedding. Twenty years and two children later and they are still going strong. I have read many times over the years that Sophie is the Queen's favorite daughter in law. I truly like Sophie and wish the press would give her more coverage for her charitable works.

I’m watching this for the first time. The service was exactly what I’d want for myself. My only complaint is that he vowed to keep her and she vowed to obey him. But everything else was quite lovely. Watching it now, knowing the marriage has lasted, made this a happy viewing experience. I also think Windsor Castle was the perfect place for a ceremony.

Prince Edward and Sophie Countess of Wessex are a real asset and blessing to the Royal Family, the country and the Commonwealth. Edward was once laughed at and misunderstood but he decretly and lovingly made sure Sophie knew what becoming a member Royal family entailed. They both keep out of the media spotlight. Over two decades of marriage, there has been no hint of discord or scandal. It's wrong and unfitting to compare Sophie to Diana. Sophie is a beautiful accomplished women in her own right. You don't get to become the Queens favourite daughter in law by accident.

I was 19 at this time living in the Philippines and my sister is such a Royal stalker! 😂 she bought magazines about this wedding and I can't forget how the headline says Prince Edward married a Diana look alike! That's a total disservice to this beautiful, eloquent lady who is by far the most authentic and articulate royal, very simple and no fuss
