This is why I weight all my coins. I have a blank lincoln cent planchet that weight about 2.0 grams but I am hesitant to selling it because it may be the transitional error.

A true collecter would hold a copper in one hand and zink in the other and just know by just knowing.. but If your just starting out in the hobby and don't have a scale just simply flick them like you were flipping a coin and if it has no sound it's zink and if it rings it's copper. Simple as that thanks Shawn like usual for all your great info💯

And I have one 1960D penny, double die, dark brow too, but when coin moved soft colors can see brightness diferent And I faund long ago a dirty 2001D penny, burier close to my plants, this penny has 2 or three error couse Lincoln barber looks diferent.Thankyou BlueRidges to share the interested information about coins. I may be referring to the possible discovery of a transitional, for example, a 1983 copper (weight 3 1), but in this case there may have been one made in 1990. Now, I'm only basing this on memory; however, I'd suspect that if you watch this particular video, you may receive your answer. Hello Blue Ridge your turning out to be my favorite coin guy lol to be honest I'm brand new to this I started doing this in the most unfortunate way.... My oldest son passed away this last Oct 9th im not saying this for sympathy or anything it's just my reality I have to deal with... But he left a huge 3 gallon water jug of his pocket change plus I empied his cars coin trays I've found alot of interesting stuff it's a little hard to know which are errors and which are just damaged... I'm still sorting them by coin type and then year its alot of work and I'm keeping every coin lol... But thank you for your reports!!!
I’m sure the reason that coin is better on one side is because the obverse was the side that was facing up on the mint floor and the reverse was facing the tile or rubber (could have been sealed concrete but not bare concrete as bare concrete would have corroded it) before it was thrown into the mix. Definitely worth a lot more money in my option the right auction and exposure should double it thanks for sharing see you on the next one👍🏻👊🏻

Isn’t that a rotated die as well? 🧐 I got into roll hunting about 20 years ago. After I had my daughter, I didn’t have time so I had put back about 10lbs of Pennies dated 1920’s to 1999 then I forgot about them!🤪 I’m just now digging through those and have found some of these newly discovered errors. Had I dug through them 20 years ago I would have gotten rid of some of these worth way more than face value! 🤯 thanks for your info!
Wouldn't a later date transitional error be worth more since it's harder to make a mistake on from the mint 🤔🧐 basically more time means more clean up on errors and mistakes so this error is rarer 💪

Shaun, much has to do with knowledge of the existence of another translational date compared to the popularity of an already known existing popular translational date of coin. The truth is till this video I didn’t know this translational coin existed. Thus, how can I or others consider to be interested and make popular if the coin doesn’t exist to us?
The coin got this final price because only so many knew about it to be interested in it.
That’s a mouthful but it makes sense. Now, I’m interested in it and on the lookout for it. Haha!😂

I can literally tell you what decade I'm looking at and most the time the year at least for 70,80,90's and right on up. I know that's probably common after a few years.

Ron I don't know about 1920 but I do know at least the Denver mint struck Philippine coins and Australian six pence that's a fact

It's funny copper pennies are easier to find by the eye than the zinc pennies after all anyone who's metal fabricator knows copper is slick

Is a Hugh lot of 1980s and 1990s pennies. 69 in total.
They are:
one 1980, two 1982, two 1983, three 1984, three 1985, 0 1986, one 1987, four 1988, two 1989, two 1990, two 1991 ( one with the letter 4 over the letter 1).
ALL are DDO and DDR.
ALL were struck on a dime plancher.
ALL have numerous black residue marks obverse and reverse on the DATE , LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST , Lincoln’s NOSE, SHOULDERS, just about EVERYWHERE.
As to condition: I would grade most of them as NEARLY MINT/ MINT.

The buyer got a good deal IF it turns out that it is only a few or the only one that was minted on the copper planchet for that date and location. The buyer was probably wary of overpaying as no one much has thought of looking for that late date for a copper planchet strike. But they will be searching now. I guess in a couple of years or so, the buyer will see if they got a steal or just ok. I'm guessing that it is more rare than a 1983 struck on copper.

there are 7 kinds of 1982, 8 if you have a 1982 D copper small date- everybody says they have one but nobody proved it yet, usually it ends up being a large date
