I think it’s funny he says he’s got the trails memorized and doesn’t need a map or compass… but asks someone where the best place to park is lol
Yes Kim - it’s a strange story. Doesn’t add up.
😂😂
This guy is so weird and his story is strange af 😂
@@lorettagilmore8830 lmao, and he is cashing in by writing a book ...hilarious
😂😂😂😂😂
Search and rescue people are incredible. And these rescuers tracked his footprints!! So impressive.❤
If they were really good they would have gotten a tracker dog.
Almost sounds like he was starting to have a bit of dementia. He’s done this trail 10-15 times....but had to ask where to park? He gets to the top and suddenly nothing looks familiar? I mean nothing. Not even his own fresh tracks. Not a single landmark that’s he’s seen 10-15 times, never mind just a few minutes prior on his way up.
I was thinking the same thing
lol yeah If he doesn't know that then he shouldn't be going on these trips.
hes pretty old mate- no offence but there quite forgetful
Lol 😂
I thought so too
Hats off to Ed and the team that searched all night for him! Ed's awesome, 19:25 gave me a good laugh!
God bless our men and women in law enforcement for not giving up.
99% of these people on this show NEVER BRING ENOUGH WATER!!
Or a tent!!
98% are white peeps
Do you carry 5 days of water on every “short hike?” That means carrying 5 gallon jugs of water with you. It is a bit heavy.
Because people are stubborn and don’t think anything is going to happen your just overreacting
This show taught me to bring a barrel of water next time I go hiking.
The actors of these series are ❤️great actors...
Greating from pakistan🇵🇰
To everybody in comments
😁🤩👍👍
Omg the boot print thing was genius
Respect to Ed, ..I love happy endings when people survived the impossible
Not respect.. survive a war command's respect not some idiot getting himself lost.
Seems a bit cocky. Even if you've hiked that trail a thousand times, you always go prepared and let someone know where you're going and returning.
I agree
Whenever my friends or I hiked alone, we always activated a GPS tracker we carried with us. That way, friends/family could see our actual track plotted on a map. I'd always say if you see me not moving for an hour or two, it means I fell or something. We ALWAYS made certain someone knew where, what trail, and when we planned on returning. Even living states apart, we'd alert each other to this information. I just cannot understand doing otherwise.
Men
I'm amazed that he survived that long without water...
why, I think you can really survive 5 days without water, and more
@@fredis3347 They usually 3 days is average for most humans
I love to watch ur documentary’s in lockdown man thx for that ❤️
Ed doesn't seem like the "desert hike" type of guy..
This guy explaining his set up in the opening is giving a great list of everything you shouldn't do. If you've been to the same trail some many times you have it "memorized" but you don't remember where to park, something is wrong. He says he has the trail memorized so he didn't need a compass or map. So that means at some point this guy took a perfectly good compass and map out of his pack before his trip. Why? He doesn't tell his wife where he is going or how long he plans to be out. Why? He only brings enough water to make the hike as expected with no extra. Why? No change of clothes. Why? Sometimes a person's sole use in life is to serve as a warning to others.
I have driven to my girlfriends house 100s of times and I still use gps lol
My sister she uses her gps to go everywhere lol
You guys better never get lost tho
It's much better always using GPS than getting lost
@Stephen Keller you are absolutely right but she left today for good and it crazy that you wrote that
@@kingofnewyork8818 she probably left because youre too stupid to remember a route after more than 100 attempts.
As many times Ed's been hiking in that area. He should have known to take extra water. Admit regardless how good you are at hiking or familiar with that area you can get lost. And always tell someone where you're going. I think it's selfish on your part not to. Glad Ed was rescued and alive. Happy for his family.
It was nice to give everyone involved a party.
Selfish, really ?
He’s on the edge of Alzheimer’s and should never have been able to go out on his own. He showed that he had no knowledge of the landscape terrain he was transversing. With today’s technology there’s no excuse for getting lost.
@@deborahpeterson9771 he wasted resources (helicopter, rescuers putting their lives at risk looking for him) if he was more safety minded they would have found him right away. A PLB (Personal Locator Beacon) costs $259. Very small and carried on your belt. They would have pinpointed him on the map and went out to pick him up.
@@chodkowski01 PLBs are amazing and there are situations where there is no real replacement for them. Such as for an arctic or desert journey in very remote areas.
Subscription service however required along with charged batteries, working infrastructure and whatnot. So maybe not for the occasional day hikes.
It does seem this story was one of "underestimating an everyday hike" that went terrible due to lack of routine that should never be stepped away from.
Always carry at least a very basic small gas-station map of the area and a basic compass. Hopefully that way, when you are in a jam you will be off in the somewhat right direction, not further and further into the wasteland desert.
@@chodkowski01 … and the name rosenthal is associated with money…. So keeps me wondering
For a man who made many choices that increased his vulnerability he sure did so much right in the realm of survival.
Mr. Rosenthal you have so much to be proud of for how you overcame this ordeal.
💛
I have been binge watching this series and I shouldn't be alive. This is the first episode where they threw a party for the search and rescue team.

These people are incredible. Slight dehydration gives me a splitting headache. I once had a kidney start to shut down and it bent my knees. Yet these people keep moving forward!
Always listen to nature, listen to the animals! Yes, this was a warning! Empathy is very important ...never ignore it!
I was talking to a truck driver who told me the story of how he had a wreck on a 2 lane road somewhere between Flagstaff and Phoenix Arizona. He drove off a cliff one night and landed on a ledge maybe 40' down. No one could see him from the road and there wasn't alot of traffic on that road anyway. Then, someone in a plane who was taking off from the Phoenix airport that had a window seat saw his white and red truck and called one of the flight attendants to come see and she thought it was a wreck too so she went to the cabin and told the pilot who called ATC and asked if he could go lower to get a better look at what they had seen and ATC gave him clearance to get closer and they confirmed it was a wreck to ATC who called the county sheriff and they went out and and found him. He wasn't hurt really bad but he had a broken leg and couldn't climb back up. He had food and water in the truck that he survived on for the one day he was down there. It wasn't as bad as this but if he hadn't been seen who knows?
Great story,thanks.
What I learned from these is to always tell someone where your going, carry a map, carry food and water and a compass
Absolutely
Carry a locator chip too. Technology is amazing these days.
Wife: Is he alive..?
Ranger: Yes
Wife: Good ‘cos the lawn needs cutting when he gets home…
Or darn I can't claim the life insurance. Why didn't she report him missing on Day 3?
life lesson: when your leaving your house bring the whole atlantic ocean amount of water
Just can't believe that someone would go anywhere alone in a desert and not take extra water, compass, etc. And be specific to some about where they are going.
If you're ever in this position just try and build a structure or shelter, Someone is bound to come out quickly and ask if you have permission to build that.
😂💯
🤣🤣🤣👍😉
I hope the survivor is happy with the title of the video.
Lmfaoooo
Thanks. You made my day 😂🤣🤣😂😂
Should of just called this one "P15SH34D" LOL
😄
@@crimesacrosstheglobe1885 I don't get it lol
I'm always watching your true story vedio, ,poor man lost in the desert good he found
I love the way Ed was able to intersperse humour within this tough situation and particular the comment about him being over in the next suite when asked was he that Rosenthal guy.
How is it possible to survive seven days in the desert without any water? I mean it's nearly impossible to survive five days under normal conditions. Respect that!
I would love to be a search and rescue person but now Im too old and body is declining. What an amazing job everyone does and he's one lucky man! ❤
I know someone with dementia and this is exactly how he speaks and acts I feel sorry for this man if there’s nothing wrong then he is a fool and shouldn’t be outside
He's too Amazing
Hi
Ur quirky
Your everywhere
Ed is one tough man: he may be age, but strong.
Great team work in getting Ed back👍these videos on Wonder true stories was the first video's i watch on UA-cam: i so enjoy them they are the best: to see how people survive💕 thanks for sharing.
'Either there would be good news, or there wouldn't be good news'
smart binary life lesson, It made my day too :-b
This is the dumbest survivor episode I've ever seen . He said he's been there 10 to 12 times but still ask a random guy where's the best parking .this guy can barely walk how can he do 5 miles.
This guy says oh no I'm out of my fire starters but so I guess I cant make a fire with my lighter. I'll just be cold at night for no reason.
Also he's going downhill on his hike, gets lost and thinks he should continue FURTHER downhill to find his initial starting point???
Exactly! Why use three fire starters on DRY BRUSH?!
@@Camibug He's a boomer. They're very arrogant and used to comfort
@@AnthroGuitarist Hes a boomer. They're very arrogant and stoooopid. There. Fixed it for ya.
The actor they have playing him looks older then Ed.
For real like 20yr different
Same with his wife
What a great ending to this story. God Bless.
Awesome ending. So happy for you. Take care and take someone with you. Be safe
This guy needs to call his rabbi this guy is going nutty.
Now I appreciate my bed so much.
can't the park service put up trail signs every 100 feet, so people don't get lost?
From all these episodes I learned is check coordinates at start of adventure and carry a compass regardless of how well YOU THINK you know the area. And know how to read the compass.
i have written about this in previous videos but i am amazed at the acting, it really helps to depict what happened
Im glad Ed Was so nice he Apperciate the Rescue Group throwing a party.
I think Ed is only one who threw a party. What a legend
He's hiked the same trail 12 or 15 times, but doesn't remember where a good place to park is?
Right.
Got it.
Exactly. Everything checks out on this one.
Never go hiking by yourself. Always find out about cell phone service where you are going. Too many people get lost in wilderness.
yes he was a cretin
Too many adults should never be let out of the house without supervision. The sheer stupidity and arrogance and I think he had dementia
15:00 THAT WAS SO SMART! Suggesting the exact boot print!
He’s just the smartest most intelligent guy ever
I love all of u people whom rescued him Iove u guys you deserve the love and the most and the best
Fantastic history 👏👌👍🙌😀💪👏👌👍
i love going to Joshua Tree with the family.but with me having a small child and knowing how bad it can get out there.i never go alone and we dont stray far from the main road.though i have wanted to go myself.this is a reminder why i should not or at least be better "prepared" for an unwanted stay.
Why didn’t the cameraman help him?
Oh, I wouldn't trust that camera man as far as i could throw him. He's got a seriously eerie knack of knowing, exactly, whose going to end up lost with their life in danger. Then he just follows them around until their near to deaths door, and collects a big pay check for doing it , Talk about Creepy ! ( :
they just recreated of what actually happened but i think the same person who got losted for days acted for this video
Is that he serious question 😳
I used to wonder that as a kid 😂😂😂😂
u serios its a reanaction and its an actor
Been there done that!! It’s a horrible feeling being lost!!
Very nice real story. Thanks
I'm never leaving my home again
Hi
Lol
Me too
Thanks for the laugh
You guys are awesome.
Leeets goooo new survival video
Damn must have found the fountain of youth out there.
Glad he survived. He had been gone for over 3 days and his wife never thought to get rescue involved? No phone calls nothing, he didn't take a tent or any survival gear.
His wife doesn't think anything is wrong when she can't reach her husband for 2 days? Thank goodness for the other camper...
That was very weird she didn't think to alert someone to go and look for him.
What a beautiful story and my hat off to Ed. Also I have never heard of such a dedicated and caring rescue team as this one. Seems quite unusual in these times, when often no one at all will help. Anyway, a perfect tale with a magnificent ending and I thank you for sharing this amazing drama with others!
The rescue team could put up more signs and markers so less people would get lost. But they prefer searching and rescuing and the appreciation parties.
@@xonx209 you are absolutely right but that would be too easy … Idk 🤷🏼♀️
This was a huge waste of time and money spent looking for this guy for why he felt like walking around in the middle of nowhere’s.
I am always amazed by the look a like actors! How do they do it ?!
Many people balked at the Native people when they say Mni Wiconi "Water is Life," and water keeps us and plants, and animals alive. If we allow the corrupt government to keep leading us down the destructive path we all die. This man has an angel watching out for him and he will never go out on short walks without all the necessary equipment. When searching for missing people the searchers need to go beyond the grid, because with this guy it shows they get lost and can be miles away. This one episode is a learning lesson for all and when one goes out alone tell someone where you are going. I thank God he survived this ordeal.
I love those type of people who are true to themselves in spite of common opinion and decide to go on their own instincts like the wife getting the boot print and the 3 rangers doing their own search. Brilliant! Not leaving a stone unturned! They have a treasure hunting instinct- perfect for search and rescue. Also their search teams continued throughout the night!!! That’s amazing!! A lot of other rescue services can’t/ don’t search through the night. Love that Ed threw a party. God bless him and his loyal wife!!
He reminds of Dustin Hoffman in Midnight Cowboy.. the looks, the voice, the accent.
Just great
I used to live in the Mojave. September might as well be the middle of summer. Camping out here we went through gallons of water perperson, per day. Not to mention replacing the salt you lose from sweating
Weldone to the rescue team!!!
Great story!
Wow what a story.
Are you ER? No, is the guy in the next suite. He is funny
“ hey! Are the you that Rosen that’s out here?” No he’s over in the next sweep 🤣
Nothing like drinking water in a comfy bed
It's kind of weird that the wife hadn't reported him missing if it was supposed to be just a short day hike.
But he was supposed to be staying there for days
She wanted the life insurance 😆
@@William14094 No he was going on a short hike.
Documentário Very good
My wife knows where I'm at and where I'm going every second of my life.
That’s not for everybody.
I always inform my sister where I am planning to going. That way they have at least an idea where they can start searching.
I like these videos.
His family or wife didn't go looking for him?? Shows what a person he is
GPS beacon needed for these hikes. Another trick is to break twigs and make little arrows pointing in direction of travel. This will lead rescuers directly to you.
I can't watch it. So happy he survived the universe had his back.
I did watch it to the end. Thank the guy who had seen him, and the car. Thank the search team for being persistent. Thank that female park Ranger who did what great women do, and never give up. Thank you Ed you're a survivor in a purplish canyon who survived Death Valley.
Such a miracle! Praise Jesus! But seriously guys, please bring extra water with you. Even if it’s just down the street!
IAM so happy your happy and your ok God bless you all 😀👍

You guys couldn't find a younger actor? No offense but that dude looks older than the actual person currently today.
have you seen some of the female actress' they use for these kind of shows? they are almost always younger. skinnier, and far more attractive. i think the guy they chose, just happened to be the guy who most closely resembled Ed.
I am always amazed by the look like actors! How do they do it ?!
AHHH NOWAY I LIVE THERE
I was waiting to see him eat the cactus tho...
Hikes the trail so many times that he doesn't need a map or compass....gets lost anyway 🤔
Always send a location when you reach to the place to someone you know! I've done it when I went for 3 days in the Australian desert
