I’m pretty sure that was everyone’s hook

Yeah, that's always the giveaway.
Absolutely! Something just doesn't seem right about this.
And for all you ladies out there let me tell you something. Never ever call your husband friend your other husband. Ever
@@elijaheffron7065 I think she and the Smiling Guy did something to the others. They were all in the same situation but everyone suddenly lost their minds? Except those two?? Look at all the other stories on here. No one goes that insane, that fast. At the very least, she's leaving a LOT out of the story. I see the Smiling Guy as an easily controlled mouth breather and the woman as evil.
that and he kept referring to ed in the past tense (he was my best friend, etc).
Who else is comfortably watching this in bed?
Me
Me, at 12:26am and I gotta be up in 4 1/2 hours to go on a fishing trip in a boat about about 5ft smaller than the one in the video in the Pacific Ocean with just my uncle and my cousin. Why am I watching this right now lol.
Yes sir same here
If I’m ever stuck out in the ocean like these two I’m swimming for the rig. Idc what y’all say.
Yep, with a nice bottle of water next to me😊😥

@@Hashslingingslasher- no, he probably actually prayed for that and you would too if you were in that situation

@@Hashslingingslasher- it does happen.. numerous times dolphins helped people lost at sea or wearing off sharks away from people.. look that up.
Maybe you just don't have any game, Raul.
If you have an emergency kit for instances like this, why on earth would you store it in the cabin where you wouldn’t be able to access if an emergency occurred?
right, I believe it is not allowed by coast guard regulation to be stashed away, and it has to be just like fire extinguishers. Easily accessible.
Yes, this is a common occurrence... people can’t get to their Emergancy/survival kits on time... Emergancy becon/gps satellite... a pop up survival boat, fishing supplies, water purification systems, first aid, lighting kits, list goes on... the Emergancy becons sometimes have maps inside them, just incase you get lost it pinpoints your location, also for rescue if necessary..
@Nikos Kalantas in sea you have to be ready for it. Like in space on sea, nobody can hear you scream
So it doesn't get wet? xD
Exactly what I said,I mean common sense ffs,it should always be in a place were you can grab it within seconds of disaster striking, like a freak wave hitting your boat etc

Absolute super human effort by Ken and Ed to stay alive that long and Ken swim that far. Ken did the right thing by leaving and going for help. Sometimes you need to help yourself. It was probably the swimming that helped stave off the hypothermia for just long enough. My biggest fear was he reach the oil rig and there was no ladder or platform to climb on.
I would've found a way up there and if need be PARKOUR STYLE!!!
The older guy should have taken charge and forced his friend to swim to the oil rig at the beginning!
Right! An they were tied to a rig at the start! Why not climb up that rig?
@@TetraResinstone yep
Would have made more sense. The swim would have helped keep them warm.
Impossible. Ed was already near death. Ken could barely swim himself, dragging a body with him would have been pointless suicide.

Omg... I thought that too. That the guy didn't like that his wife called the other guy her "brother husband" so he drowned him & took off..
Agreed. Everyone seems to think something is wrong with this.
Ken deserves a sea swimming medal. I've binged watched a lot of these survival at sea stories, and no one actually is able to swim to an oil rig successfully. He accomplished the seemingly impossible.

Who else has soooo many questions for this guy and his wife who’s a 911 operator and didn’t call anyone??????
for all his preparations, he forgot to take the most important things - a handheld waterproof vhf radio, and 5 litres of water, more important than flares, whistles, spare lifejackets etc. Also, the very first thing you would do when you see the boat is sinking, is get your grab bag, you are better off sinking with the boat than leaving your grab bag behind. Also, see the boat is sinking, drive away from the platform, boat sinks and don’t swim back to the platform - what?
My favorite series besides "I Shouldn't Be Alive".
It dont make sence how there wasnt time to get essentials but they managed to save a bottle of coke

They didn't secure their emergency provisions when the ship was taking on water. But most dumb of all they didn't stay on the oil rig to wait for help.

Assuming the actual boat is the one at 3:17 from home video. I know this boat, I owned one identical. Looks like a Wellcraft Scarab Sport 302. It's a 30' center console with twin outboard engines. Quite a different boat than the one used in this recreation video. The one in this production is roughly the same length but it is a Sea Ray cabin cruiser with inboard engines. But at the end of the day, a sinking boat is a sinking boat. There should have been a bunch of stuff that would have floated when the open center console sunk. These guys likely had a cooler full of beer, drinks and food and another full of bait. Never the less, as a life long boater myself. If I were tied to an oil rig or any other solid structure and the boat started taking on water, I would not leave the safety of the platform. I would try to fix the problem there and if the boat still went down at least it would be tied to the rig and we would be dry. You can always retrieve things from the sunk boat if it's tied well to the rig, it will only be a few feet under water. In fact if the boat were sinking I would use every line I had to tie it to the rig.
That ending got the tears going....
It's so sweet that he called his wife first, knowing thay she could take over from there ❤
Edit; just seen the ending 😢😢😢
As much as only one person was speaking, I was hoping the other survived too and just didn’t want to talk on camera. It’s so sad to think he died alone.
Twist: Ken actually set up Ed by tampering with the boat because Ed was sleeping with ken’s wife. Anyone find it fishy that the boat goes down so quickly and 100 yards away from a platform.
