II was 70 years old, hunting alone with a climbing tree stand. I picked a tree overlooking a ravine. As I started to climb, the stand, it swiveled and threw me out with my back on the ground and my feet in the stirrups over my head. I tried to dislodge my feet but they were stuck. Blood rushed to my head and I knew I did not have long if I didn't do something. Fortunately, I had on my rubber boots and I was able to slip my feet out of them, as i did, I rolled down the ravine. I climbed out on my hands and knees, shaken but ok. Had I had on my leather boots with shoe laces, I would have died.

Dear God. You were so lucky in your bad luck. I saw the whole thing in my mind. When you said it swiveled I seen you. Wow just wow. It's really scary how easy we can get severely injured or killed. It wasn't your time. I know Jesus is very real due to some unbelievable experiences Ive had. I know noone will probably believe me but this is my gift to YOU. Just trust this older lady that Jesus is a call away. He will help you. ❤

Craig DeMartino is a true inspiration. He fell doing what he loved and sustained terrible injuries which led him to the loss of his right leg. Instead of just lying down and doing nothing, he motivated himself to get back up and get back out there.

I had a similar thing happen to me almost 10 years ago., only I was at work not in the woods hunting. I fell 70 feet head first onto concrete and steel. My injuries were minor compared to yours. I had 6 broken ribs cuts and bruises. I was in the trauma hospital 5 days and was sent to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta for 2 weeks and 2 days then released to go home. I did have to have a lot of physical therepy . I never got to go back to work. Glad you are doing great.

we should send all forest animals christmas cards from their own assigned veterinarians.

assigned all animals their own lawyers. Too many animals just wouldn't fill out the necessary forms.

Craig had the accident, and it was horrific, but his survival in the wilderness was passive, with other people taking care of him. Joe on the other hand actively got himself out of the wilderness. To sum it up, Craig is inspirational for fis recovery, Joe for his survival.

    Disgusting.
Did it ever occur to him that the pain and fear he experienced is what he INFLICTS on other sentient beings?
Lucky for him deer have more character than he does and didn’t take their opportunity to trample him while he was down.

Imagine being the spastic that actually thinks like this. Yes, I’m sure it was some cosmic balancing force avenging all the deer he’s slain rather than gravity. Deer are herbivores that overbreed if they aren’t actively predated upon. We’ve killed off a lot of their natural predators, if they aren’t hunted they overpopulate, overgraze and eventually starve themselves to death.

Yeah, I don't feel bad for this guy at all. First, tree and/or blind hunting is for children learning to hunt and the unskilled hunter. Second, every single "guy fell out of a blind" story involves a complete disregard for safety. If you are unskilled enough to use a blind there are multitudes of safety gear to prevent this exact type of accident from happening .There is no way he's a good doctor if he lives his life completely ignoring safety protocols.
