If you're fond of sand dunes and salty air,
Quaint little villages here and there.

If you're fond of sand dunes
If you're fond of sand dunes
If you're fond of sand dunes

What a top bloke, Jim. What a top bloke.
@@fixinggore7135 Road trip from Denver to Austin. I think I ruined my hearing playing Madder over and over again.
Age means nothing when it comes to finding new music you like.
Thank you of all people Jeremy Clarkson for bringing me back to Groove Armada.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
ha......watching this now and TV has Clarkson's Farm on...
I actually got chills when the trombone started and the audience finally realized what the song was. And it sounds just as perfect as it does on the album. I played this for my aging parents (I’m 45) when I took them to Cape Cod- I popped this on as we travelled to the beach. It was a sunny day with just a little breeze- my mom loved it, but dad didn’t say much. Mom shocked me when she sang along with the second line of the words- I didn’t know before then that the lyrics are sampled from an old song she happened to know. It was a beautiful day. I always try to play music to fit the mood when I’m driving them somewhere far- I played them an album by Peace Orchestra as we were driving through Death Valley, and some ORB as we drove through Joshua Tree State Park. Among other things. Thanks so much for posting this- I lost my copy of the album when I got divorced in 2008, and I’ve been really missing it. Stay safe and healthy!
Did you find out that the song was called Old Cape Cod? What a coincidence!
@@9regorio I did,, thank you 🙂
Thank for you for sharing, such a lovely memory!
@@YTIsTakingOverMyLife 🙂❤️
Old Cape Cod is a superb song by the late and much regretted Patti Page. Give it a chance, it's worth its salt (ludicrous punt intended).
The soundtrack to one of the best times in my life, swinging in a hammock on a tiny beach on Ko Phangan at sunset, with this music playing and friends all around.
Hello rachelkovalev
Totally. Beautiful combination
Groove Armada and Massive Attack. Imagine !
Thats happened ! Need rid of Risky now

It's hard to believe this song is 20 years old. It still sounds brilliant and always will.
It's a LOT older than 20 years old.
@@Juliukas101 really?
@@panpinkofficial the lyrical sample is, but that's about it.
1961 Patty Page
Agreed it’s brilliant ✌️🙏🏼❤️
I'm literally crying
Right when that slide trombone hits, the crowd just knew they were gonna hear a timeless gem!
iF i MAY SAY SO WHAT A TRACK TO TAKE YOUR MIND OFF THE RECENT NONSENSE SURROUNDING THE UK
Who is here in 2020? i'll love this song forever.
Daniel De Almeida love Grove Armada forever
I'm here!
Me! =)
This is it for this year no holidays on the horizan for anybody thanks to china !
Give us a GA concert in EU... maybe Sept 2020, for a better year, since so far 4/20 it's been just shitty
I woke up one night with this time in my head and I couldn’t remember the lyrics or title. I would call people and hum the tune hoping someone would know the words, not like there were many to remember! I became anxious after a few months that I may never figure out my dream song. Then it was the last song in my palates class one Friday, there it was. Tears of joy accompanied me on my last downward dog and coming to prayer stance… I am a fulfilled woman
Hello sherri
For years I have made girlfriends giggle while playing this during 'Shexxxy times' by adding my own little lyrics...
If you're fond of wet boobs and salty hair,
Little white droplets over here and there....
😉🥴🤣🤣

This very tune, will be the one I will be playing at the beach, to celebrate the end of the quarantine in 2020, somewhere on a cypriot beach, with empty sand dunes and salty air...
I'm listening to this during quarantine and feel like I'm at that beach already
hells yes.
I'm gonna join you mate 👍👍
Enjoy. July now looks like nobody's going on holiday abroad for a while
Please let us know when and where that party will be!
I was at this gig in Brixton, and so was my future wife. But I didn't know that at the time.
That's a great story! Thanks for sharing 😊
And then... you just cry. Oh, how I miss the 90's.
😐
Good time
Takes me to another place
yeeeeeeeeees
I am in that place..:)
lights out
Where??
Makes me wanna be in another place.
I’m here from the year 2794 and this song still kicks ass
they took me another world
thanks Mr trombone man

@@marcfasten3895 His real name is Andy Cocup. I played with him in Doncaster Youth Jazz Orchestra years ago. He was even that tall at 15 haha. Really nice guy. I remember he was into Chris Barber's style of trombone playing.
These guys are real musicians.
Yes Sir :)
I'll say it again. Trombone dude went in on this. 3 years later I am still rocking this.
The trombone gives this song a sensuous feel. Such a gorgeous song.
Yes the trombone sounds so great and really adds to this song .
Oh Yes and also Spooky my Son and I were chatting over t"interweb 2 days ago I had lost touch and couldn't "name that tune," I knew he would know as 20 years ago he bought me "Chilled Ibeza" as i had been trying to find a copy of "at the river"
That was two days ago and on BBC Breakfast guest were "Groove Armada"
Bit spooky that but things like that happen to me quite a lot.
I was there working the bar!!!
"If you're fond of sand dunes and salty air...." :)
Good memories and pure bliss. :)
I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THE TROMBONE SOLO FOR YEARS 😭😭😭 IT'S AS BEAUTIFUL AS THE FIRST MOMENT I HEARD IT

This one is on my Top 10 list of the best songs I'd ever heard, I like all the versions and I hear it every day. I feel reborn when I hear this song, and floating way to a pleasant place. The song is a piece of Heaven and it's a great celebration of life.
Svein Grimstad I’ve never enjoyed a live version of a song more than this
You might like the original song even better: "Old Cape Cod."
That's how I feel about Fogma
Groove Armadas music is brilliant, it doesn’t always translate to live shows energy and visuals with stage presence- this is one of my favorites none the less.
when those bongo percussions kick in, just killer
2024 and this tune is as good as new ❤🎉
Sometimes life can be sweet 💗
Una delicia sonora el escuchar llega la nostalgia de los 90's la calidad de su música excelente
Hello EnriqueGarcia
Quite possibly one of the classic 90's unforgettable tunes. I remember listening to this at work in a funeral home while pregnant with my daughter who just turned 20. I locked the door at work as was feeling very sick while eating my bran scone. Some absurd thing called the burry man was active in the town and I was not ready to meet this weird thing as was from Edinburgh and was only in town for a week. That man still terrifies me to this day. Reminds me of something out the wicker man. It can **** right off . Stay away from South Queensferry 😂😂😂😂
Where is the laugh button when you need it? You can take the man out of Gles... xxx
Woah that crazy bro
If ever there was an example of following the groove until you hit the spot, it’s this! Bravo!!
Was never a fan of live recordings, but ya know what.. I'm a fan of this. ❤️❤️❤️
Who would have thought that a trombone could sound so good?
Hello Jane
One of the grooviest tracks ever created LIVE! Stuff of legends Groove Armada
I am 15, and i discovered this song, when my dad was driving me from airport at 2 AM, it is such a vibe😍😍
Gotta love dads
Waaaay back in the other century… when I was young… 5th grade band… I played the T-Bone. Switched the next year to trumpet because of riding the bus. Always in someone’s way. Can’t beat the mid-tone of the bones. Right between the trumpets and the baritone. Can hit most of booth’s range. ❤️ A year behind the rest? I sat first chair in trumpet section. 😝😎💪
Why have I just sobbed to this
Being the band kid that took on the Trombone paid off dividends for this guy, the band, and mostly us to have heard him get down like he did.
This is the song that brings me peace when its all confusing. Its a song that i listen at least from 2002... Its reminds me some random beach at sunrise time.
Trombonist holds those flats just perfect. Could listen all day long
I was singing "sand dunes and salty air, quaint little villages everywhere", long before I knew who did it really.
Heard this live years ago when they played st James in Auckland. I was hanging out so badly for this and they played it as an encore.
I cried. Such a beautiful song.
You lucky bastard. Tune for years from Welly x
I remember it same concert. Mate just organised VIP tickets at the Napier concert in November. Can't wait
My budgie (RIP) used to really love this version many years ago - so did the neighbours after a while
For years I have made girlfriends giggle while playing this during 'Shexxxy times' by adding my own little lyrics...

The trombone solo just takes you away
Beautiful.
In 2008 i was on their concert in Ukraine. The first time i heard them playing "Lovebox" and this song...I was blown away.
Still beautiful.
Here in 2024.
Hello Shara
Your playing the trombone takes me back to the 1970's and 1980's and puts me back in the Drivers seat of playing the Trombone. I miss the Brass, 4 years plus of formal trombone and the sheet music, but the sound when orchestrated well was just so perfecto! People, wake up! Groove Armada is all I'll DJ
Sand dunes and salty air takes me somewhere beautiful every time. Such an odd yet gripping composition, a work of genius.
Nowt better than Groove Armada when feeling low.
Fabulous
I heard this a many years ago and lost it and found it again
I believe in love!
'If you're fond of sand dunes and salty air; quaint little villages here and there..." ...
Come to Wales mun boyo!
Well.. maybe one day, you'll be able
Even if this guy's life were committed to heinous, villainous, evil crimes and misdemeanors, this trombone line would still guarantee him entry to heaven!
care to explain?
Think I got MK d that day
Wtf happened
At least explain your nonsense bozo
Or stop mispreading information
This is one of those rare songs you just want to go on and on forever....
One of the best chill-out beat out there. This track always on my list.
Even just a pip of that trombone edging in. This will always be that track
These guys just got even more respect from me when i see that they use live musicians..
Superb..
People don't realise how hard it is to play the trombone well. It's not like a guitar, it doesn't have frets...the quality of the tone is entirely dependent on the touch of the player and the correct positioning of the mouth and sliding piece....this is wonderful, wonderful playing...and the percussionist is pretty bloody good too!
Fking brilliant!!! Absolutely just so peaceful and mesmerising and just brings a huge sense of bliss and complete wonderfulness!!!!
Good times... this song always put me in the right place.
a Detroit DJ of old, I'd close with this on every Thursday night/morning. Since those table days, I've never imagined anything quite like a GA cut to make a statement, with no words.
When the trombone kicks it and the hands go up!
This was my parents wedding song!! Brilliant!
bliss!!... I thought this was a mish mash of samples, until I saw this.. take me away to those turquoise seas, mild honey golden sun, fine sands and gentle sea breeze like 2020 didn't exist
It goes w/o saying but that trombone is just too good!
Andy Cato
3:12 to 3:55 is one of the very best bass lines ever.
That bass line would have sound way better without that effect. But what do I know?Great song none the less.
It's pissing down outside. Headphones engaged, I'm now on a tropical island away from it all. Lovely!
I was a teenager when it came out, I still love it...I'm 40 now and it doesn't age at all...that trombone is sublime💣
Just a perfect song to hold somebody you love in your arms and enjoy life on a beach while sunset. To all the people we‘ve lost and all the people we have the privilege to share memorable times with.
3:55 when that melody that's through the whole studio version, finally kicks in
Right! wasn't expecting it to come up that much later in the performance. cherry on the top 👌
I can't Help coming back to listen to this... again and again ...
Cortlyn it’s an addictive piece of music
It's fantastic :)
And again
This IS the definition of chilled
Still here!
i really like the trombone's sound. its deep
yes
DEEP
That trombone makes it what it is
Who doesn't like the sand-dunes, salty air, and quaint little villages here and there.....?
bittersweet and sick
Played tonight, never gets old
That moment when you realize you are getting old and you love it!
Thx Martin ! Then I'm not the only one who likes that feeling , hahaha. Cheers.
haha! who said getting older doesn't mean better :D
+mare1203 I'm 46 fitter than I ever was and know how to have a good time and give a good time to others. Wish I had a time machine!
lincolncity9 that's what I'm talking about! :) every part of our lives is amazing and we just have to seize it.
I'm 30 and I still write journals so, every time I read something that has happened yrs ago, I'm thinking: man, I just have to keep doing this; fill my life with good stories
+mare1203 exactly.
True brilliance
My favourite musical memory will forever be, Groove Armada at Boomtown 2019, with their blissful beats washing over a joyful jubilant crowd, that late afternoon / early evening time slot is a magical space.. much in the way of musical healing took place, dancing barefoot in that special place 💞 thank you GA for the emotional support during lockdown 😘✌😜🥳
Mr Trombone-man (y) What a instrument!
Just love this 😎 ..... GA doing what GA do best chill out music sublime great sample of Betty Paige "Old Cape Cod" .... Saw them doing this amongst other classics @ All Together Now festival August 2022 😎✌️.
Such a Masterpiece!!!
Yes but not an original tune, sample off a very old song
ok..... a band that features a trombone is this good.... this popular? Come on... they are something special!
This song brings me so much joy every single day. I will never tire of it.
Thank you for the everlasting goodness Groove Armada.❤😊❤
For people who think "electronic" music is all synth. ✌
Song Mozart calling this electronic music is like calling heavy metal relaxing music 🙄🙄
How is this electronic lmao
@@DanThinks Maybe, the reverb on the trombone? You will not get that sound otherwise. They are definitely categorized as electronica, among others.
Well, electronic music for the most part' is' all synth and mostly a 4/4 beat. This is not electronic music. This is a form of Trip Hop which doing the time consisted of a downtempo, elements of jazz, maybe some reggae, vocals (generally female but some artist preferred both male and female), chill samples featuring a melody, harmony or vocals from the someone who is not always but usually deceased. Listening to this other artists comes to mind.....Thievery Corporation, Zero7,Massive Attack, Portishead and others in the genre. The music was a movement....and a movement with impeccable good taste.
downtempo man! its a genre! and its fkin awesome
Who is still listening to this in 2019? What's a track!!!
Amazing can't wait to see them live!
Yop
"Who is still" ... ? Sorry! ; I know it is well meant, but it always does sound annoyingly disrespecting when a tune is more than "Barbie Girl". This one is ;) .
Why would somebody 'NOT still' be listening to this tune ??
Does a track like this grow old on anyone ?
How about 2020?
2021 😎
I think about this song every day ❤
if you are feeling stressed and anxious in these crazy times of 2020. Close your eyes take a deep breath and listen to this magnificent song, the ultimate chill tune. Watergate bay Cornwall, such memories!
Lovin' how they're all chilled right out whilst playing 😊
This 😎👆🏻♥️ Class. Reminds me of Ibiza in 2001.
Not even 400K views in 4 years, that's the moment when you know Groove Armada is UNIQUE, incredible live performances. GA is about music.
2022. 1st of October. Magic music, never gets old this BEAUTIFUL track. 💚
Hello nicky
I expect many people won't believe me, but I'll tell you a true story. I helped, in a significant way, to break this record in the way that it did, at the time it did. I was a very, very low-level DJ for a few years from the mid to late 90s. I worked as a duty manager at a brilliant little bar on Portobello Road in London called the Beat Bar. We had DJs playing records every night and throughout the day on weekends. I played Friday night and Saturday daytime. I had picked up this record as a 7-inch single from a small, very niche and totally brilliant independent shop I used to frequent. I can't for the life of me remember what it was called - I'm now 54 and have been out of the game for a long time and almost certainly some disco damage has done for some of my memory cells. Anyway, I think this shop was partly run (or at least associated with in some way) by one of the guys from The Amalgamation of Soundz, who were a duo who put out some brilliant stuff, some of which was in a similar vein to this track. Anyway, I had the record and started playing it. A lot. It's unbelievably brilliant, obviously. Anyway to the point of my comment here: one night after an evening at the Beat Bar I went an after-party at someone's house. I can't remember whose house it was, but a friend of mine, Adam, who also worked with me at the bar, was in a social circle that included Norman Cook and Zoe Ball. They were at the party; I played some records at some point, including this gem, and they were both blown away by it. The following week they started giving it airtime, and it blew up. The rest, as they say, is history.
I never get tired of watching and listening to this, just fantastic!
best jam for holidays
First time I ever heard of this group and the first song I heard by them. Simply marvelous music. How much great music is out there that our ears have never heard?
