One other thing that Arty missed, flash did get 2 probe kills to delay the 3rd at around 7:20. If you watch the minimap you can spot them dive in and the probe dying.
I love watching Flash lose lol. This is my new favorite up and coming protoss. He's smart, and great at decision making and multitasking. That 1st game was ridiculous, he played textbook protoss.
16:29 gateways dont have a "working" animation like barracks do. They were supposed to but devs didn't have enough time to implement. That means in this case here the Terran player couldn't tell a unit was about to pop and turn this into a trap for his 2 rine 1 vulture 1 scv 1 tank push. He was chasing off 1 goon and all of a sudden 2 show up out of nowhere (1 from gateway, 1 from outside his vision across the bridge).

For example, if he does factory expansion 30% of the time, then he'll be able to punish close spawn 67% of the time on a four player map for a 65% win rate for 0.13 expected wins. Or let me know if this is a dumb way to think about it, because I am definitely a casual.

He already has 2 micro holes created at this point to use vs. zealots and realistically the factory is never going to be killed so in my noob player (but somewhat experienced viewer?) head it does make some sense

Meta changes are more specific than the things you're suggesting. Just because terran always going quick mech vs. toss doesn't mean there are different build orders under that paradigm. OSL's and MSL's are a thing too.
I think his overall feel of the game(star sense as it was called in the old KESPA days) has deteriorated, but thats because he was inactive for more than 3 years from around feb/march 2021 till june 2024, with the exception of the little stint he did on the ladder for 2-3 weeks in june/july 2023. Thats why i feel the same way as Artosis that he wont be competing in the upcoming ASL for sure. He needs AT LEAST 6 months to fully get himself into the groove, start streaming and then maybe he will compete in next years first ASL around march/april. Thats what i would do, but hey im not Flash, so we will see.

Was it it a mistake for Flash to target the gateway in the second game? It looked like he had a better army and would have won if he didn't take so much free damage.
I know this problem or habit very well, but the desire to click on units while commenting creates unpleasant feelings. I do not call for changing anything, but I convey this point that it begins to irritate when instead of commenting, there is a sharp movement of the mouse, clicks on units and other moments that are typical for independent play. Protoss can't do anything vs a 2 factory push from 1 base Terran. You kill the expansion then contain them and expand yourself. Terran players suck nowadays.
