At 16:09 Arty says that Flash made a sloppy move, but I don't think it was sloppy. Flash was maxed at 200 supply, so I think he intentionally sacrificed the useless Marines so he could make more mech units. Literally getting chills.

I think drops ended with JD and that is unfortunate. Zerg has even better strategies to break up terran sieges than Protoss. It ended when at the time Flash also stopped playing SK terran.
Zerg overlords are half as cheap as shuttles and they cross more terrain than zerg melee units do on their own. Zerg stopped playing their best after JD's reign with dark swarm drops. Those were the scary times.

Mech is the answer right now! Only play that allows you to outexpand the Zerg in any meaningful way! The surplus of minerals from the gas heavy mech can be used for turrets and tanks are the only cure for Dark Swarm while Vessels take care of Queens...
I have to wonder if the idea of mech is just to dodge having to control an endgame SK Terran. Constant attacking with marine, medic, science vessel is so unreasonably efficient against zerg through the entire course of the game it's hard to think that mech is actually better, but at least you don't have to control 100 supply of marine medic. I think mech switches are good in theory, but catching a player like SoulKey with a mech switch is always going to be a struggle. I feel like at the top end, you really need to keep attacking to force them to consume larvae, if a zerg is allowed to drone for even a moment at the top level it seems like you just lose. The only people who are winning in high levels in TvZ are those who just attack constantly and force larvae to be consumed on lings, and drones to be consumed on sunks.
Snow is 30+ and did military like 10 years ago Edit: military service is usually done at 18 but can be deferred for different reasons like university or certain careers

Mid game I was just kinda casually watching and next thing I know flash has total map control and has taken over half the map, is basically max supply against 100 and has totally taken over the game. He just looked like the better player here and MadYellow just couldn't keep up...the longer the game went, the further ahead Flash was.
its not good to insinuate meta switches when we see the best terran vs. amateur zerg... the stuff flash gets away is just way too much in this game this is not a game its bullying
Why does every zerg go low econ in starcraft 1? Is it not viable to play a higher eco. Feels weird watching very little skirmishes but have half the drone count and half the supply.
They usually have low drone count because they lose a lot of them to make buildings and need to use the hatches to make other stuff. Low supply is usually ok since they can macro a full army very fast and they have low supply cost.
So far as I can tell, the mech switch is much better than pure mech in this meta because Terran is pressuring enough that Zerg almost never feels safe enough to get Queens out.
Arty don't let these fools shame you for nerd chills! I do like rating the chills as mild etc. Gives me a great indicator for how sick of a strategy I'm seeing 😅
I dont even play starcraft online but this mech approuch is clearly working better than bio, Zergs seems to depends on lurker way too much and this works better vs dark swarm than Marines.
Was wondering the same. A top Zerg player would have won by like 7 minutes. Flash didnt have enough defense, specially because of that choke by the minerals... but the mutas were very timid.

JD used to drop defilers. You couldn't even see the defilers when dark swarms surrounded the overlords.
