Winter actually has good gamesense because he understands the flow of the economy. The guys doing the casting for ESL have none and it’s frustrating, I remember watching someone take a fight and come out with -4000 resources, only for the casters to praise his strong position and say his opponent was on the ropes...right before he surrendered because of how badly the fight had cost him.
They are single-handedly going to make the reverse what happened to Zerg happen to Protoss. Clem and Serral are so good at their race that I am seeing some Protoss buffs incoming over the next year unless Maxpax and a few others can start consistently beating Serral and Clem. The joys of an RTS being balanced based on the top tier. Its unfortunately neccessary when the esport is so dominant, but it makes it hard for people below the top tier or just below it (Pros and GMs).
It’s always so crazy to me how much APM the top Terran are able to get in. In everything under Masters, Zerg just needs like 5 banes to wipe your whole army and it’s gg. These top terrans just weave in and out of these swarms like it’s a fkn campaign cut scene
You're my favorite SC2 commentator Winter. I love how you say more with less words. Many other commentators have higher words per minute, but it's mostly cacophonic spam.
Kinda sus that serral brings out broods when big money is on the line, every time. But here, hes almost resistant to them. Doesnt wanna get them nerfed lol
Thank you very much for casting this :) I am not playing the game anymore for like 10 years... but: I have to be honest... it seems weird nowadays, obviously this isnt the case for most Terran players, but especially with this truly insane amount of micro medivacs with marines seem beyond broken :D Ive noticed this nearly every high TVZ match... Its just so frustrating to fight and then your enemies disappear and are back in the sky... with the lack of zerg AA (I dont count corruptors because they cant shoot ground, so they are useless if marines are on ground ) its just sad to see this every time. At least Protos cant do it that extreme because Prism doesnt heal... Idk feels weird to me... Against Protos you are scared when blink stalkers hit at least. Even crazier than Clem simply killing that drone trying to build hatchery at the third watching around 3 mins game time is Clem never goes over 160 minerals while it happens. Disgusting.
Man, I remember when Clem was just starting to gain notoriety as a top Terran; his aggression and his micro were top notch, but he was so momentum driven; easily overwhelmed against opponents that could keep up with him, and really bad at managing counter-damage. He has evolved over the last few years into a much more calm, patient, well-rounded Terran that can dish out blows and take them really well too. Really putting Maru on the spot for his title of GOAT Terran.
hes like taking maru and adding a zerg element and more APM. Hed crush Maru right now no doubt and as he gets better, Maru falls off little by little with age
Keep thinking that as long as the terran units can be immediately picked up, people will always call these situations imba - where, the zerg wastes 10k+ and can't seem to break the terran line. Maybe if fungal interrupted the medivac's ability to pick up units. Maybe then it would be a lot more fair lol
21:00 It feels like you need to have everything align for yourself in order to have a bare chance against Serral. How was he alive after the disastrous beginning of game 2?
Not to sound too hyperbolic here but that game 3 is the most impressive, clutch, diehard gameplay I've ever seen. Literally every other player would throw in the towel but it just makes Clem fight harder. This guy is special.
This matchup reminded me of Hero's run through GSL, dominating Maru and Dark. Clem really knew what to do against Serral and first time I've seen Serral look "stuck" on back to back matchups.
This match was really interesting, as I have noticed how sometimes players like Clem notice their strong sides, like widow mines in this case, and manage to monetize on this in a games further on the line. I guess that this is a sign of a true professional
Clem was at 64 supply with 9 SCV's and zero bank vs Serral, the finisher, the GOAT who has 43 drones and almost double the army supply, and not only does he not just gg and leave the game, he wins? That's amazing, this may be one of the greatest comebacks of all of SC2.
Bro Ive never played a game of starcraft, but man I love watching these games. I can only imagine the amount of skill it takes to micro all these units at the same time. I don't know how they do it.
Great cast Winter! Great series! Terran seems so overpowered. The ability to build 30+ command centers and scan the entire map constantly, while zerg's so called detection is so damn fragile and slow.

Bruh, by your logic, Lurker also shouldnt existed in the game? Damage consistency of a Tank and hidden like a Widowmine, also no friendlyfire? Just float your Overseer around and mines are wet farts😂.

The issue is Terran scales with micro potential. The sky is the limit, and that's just not true of other races. At the highest level, Terran simply is better.
Those things are strong, but not OP. It's okay for terran to have units strong enough to handle anything the swarm can throw at them, at least when defending. In the late game, the zerg can always remax after 1 bad fight, so they get many chances to catch the terran out of position. I don't like games where no big mistakes have been made but the zerg runs wave after wave of units on planetaries until they win, and I was happy to see that style get defended.
@@johnkalyvas4838 I think the issue comes down to counterplay. Zerg has no effective tool against turtle ghost siege lategame. Clem was such a monster for this whole tournament. 3-1ing the "GOAT" was no small feat, and he did it convincingly, even in late-game when Serral was in macro mode. There's a single-digit number of people who have managed to do this vs Serral.
I think the biggest shakeup they could do for SC2 at this point would be to allow buildings to be rotated. Imagine how many pro's could take advantage of this mechanic in the current meta. Reactor could be made inside and proxy's could avoid slight scouting paths.
I've kinda felt like Serral wins the majority of his games by landing some god tier fungal eventually and wiping out his opponent in one fell swoop. In this series he never really managed that. Clem had about 3 digits worth of orbitals just sitting around scanning all over the place and taking out the infestors before they got into position and there was no other method in sight to deal with the weakest units in the game, ghosts. I haven't played SC2 in 10 years so if my opinion is stupid, I blame lack of practice.
