- Going back to basics for a beginners coding guide, I'm writing a complete breakout expert based on a published strategy including tips and optimisation.
Part 1 of 8
The strategy was published by TradePro and is a time range based breakout trading USDJPY with 3 stage take profit.
As a beginners guide I'm taking things slowly so I have to break the tutorial down to multiple videos. This is the first part and there is a link to the playlist below. I will add further parts to the playlist in the coming days.
The code is for Metatrader 5 but is almost the same for Metatrader 4 and I'll try to point out the differences as I go in the videos

I have learned a lot from all of your older videos!
Currently i am learning classes and outsourcing code from my EA into my own library.

The only guru and of course together with sir Jim Dandy. Very clear teachings from 1 to 8 . And tested your works. The part 7 is working also when Tp1 hit SL move BE to price entry, and likewise tp2 hit SL move BE to tp1.

Machine learning, maybe but it's not on my immediate list.
I don't dare to call myself a pro trader but with 12 years of trading I never knew what SL is, what I need to know is when to start and end a trend. Stop loss in trading does not mean increasing the trading account and also never know what bots or theory to use in trading. What I need is market objectivity with a reasonable number of orders above the available account level.
Well, that's the tricky bit and I don't give trading advice. Don't want to get in trouble with the regulators and now we have thought police so I have to be careful.

@Orchard Forex - Love watching your videos - implementing a lot of things in my own EA's. (Been a developer for over 15 years) Like to write my own "Trading Toolbox" - PS: Any idea how I can add these (Indicators & EA's) into a ToolBox menu Item in MT4/5?
To you have mt5 stuffs that makes sense ? How can I test them?
I'm not sure what you mean by a toolbox. Do you mean some kind of on screen button or a set of include files for development or something else?
I am really enjoying this series. I have got it all in so far but when I compile it is bringing up an error saying the InpRangeStartMinute is an undeclared identifier. No other errors just that one coming up twice.
Well, you have a mistake somewhere. Compare it to the download on the web site.

I haven't looked at it. Converting TV to MQL is a maybe thing for me.

Up to this video the only MT4 change would be to add #property strict. There are more differences in part 4 and I go over compatibility in the (coming) part 5.
