Similar situation - not exactly young, returned to US after 14 years abroad and having to retest for an expired license - also appreciate the video ;-) And cannot wait to move back to Europe. ;-)
My dad basically taught himself how to drive back in the 80s and he expects me to be like him or already be perfect after barely 10 hrs of driving and he yells at me for any slight mistake I make. This video really helped teach me how to reverse park well. Thanks
This has been the hardest thing for me to learn. Reversing in general confuses me but this video gave me some clarity. I will put it to the test tomorrow.
I hope that I’ll have a chance to try it soon too. I’d have to practice with my dad from being in the first phase though. It’s still fine though; that doesn’t matter so much to me
This is literally the best video for reverse parking. I've never understood when someone just tried to explain it to me byt this video has all the visual elements to make it cristal clear!
@Stan Cravens How can you tell if the vehicle is going straight when backing ? That's the area where I struggle because I can't judge due to the lack of vision of the parking lines when backing.
@@Ace_boy318 If you have powered side mirrors, you can adjust the left (or right) mirror pointing downward which shows you the line. It may be cumbersome at first, but you'll soon learn to back into spaces without having to adjust the mirrors. In case that tech isn't available to you, then the good old fashion is to literally step out of the vehicle and judge how much adjustment you need to make.
Lmao, all the time, I don’t even care if the parking spot is closer to my destination, ill always park where there’s 3 empty spaces unless I’m like super late ( for some reason I gain confidence when I’m in a hurry ) I always play it safe when it comes to driving.
I just want to thank you sir. Your videos helped me pass my road test earlier today. I can say you helped me more than the instructor at the driving school I went to. With prayers and by watching all your driving videos gave me the confidence to pass it. I was worried because my learners permit is going to expire soon too but now I'm very grateful and happy. More power to your channel sir, I'm now a subscriber of yours. GOD Bless to you.
Really glad to hear you passed - that’s great news! Congratulations, and thank you very much for watching and subscribing. I believe God hears our prayers and cares about what happens in our lives…God bless you as well!
me and my aunt went to a parking lot that had practice cones. I tried to do a back-in for like 30 minutes and kept messing it up so she got in the drivers and said she'd show me how then she backed in and ran over the cone. I felt a little better about not being able to back in after that.
What felt like months of searching for a video to help me reverse park, you definitely save my life and my mom neck from getting another wipe lash thank you so much, I have my driver test tomorrow so you were a big help
I wish my dad had explained it to me that calmly I feel like thats why the majority of us new drivers are nervous because of the strict driving coaches.
Everyone has their own style of teaching, and I suppose each style works with a certain type of student. I hope this video helped, and I really appreciate your taking the time to watch it!
You never get clear coaching from mom n dad, husband etc, invest in safe driving from qualified instructor to avoid accident! Jusr what I did! My test coming up! This video really helpful.
My dad tried to teach me in my teens. But it always ended up then saying I’m not taking it seriously. I’m now 23 and my friends and paid a professional driving coach to help me. Drove with him for the first time in a while yesterday and he told me he didn’t know why I was ever nervous 😐😂
This is one the better reverse parking videos that I’ve seen. To those working on parking skills, The four steps to good reverse parking are (1} Signal (2) Setup (3) Scan 4) Back in. ( As shown in the video). Keep the dry steering to a minimum. It’s not that hard with a little practice , also practice backing into driveways can be a good way to learn back in parking. The steps are nearly identical to bay parking. Good luck / good video. Thanks 🚗😎
As a driving instructor we have different size cars with obviously different reference points. When we teach we get the car thats available for us at that time. Instead of remembering different reference points for different car what would you say is a standard method for any car when backing into a parking space?
Reverse parking into a spot is objectively the better way to park in most situations. I've been a full-time courier for 14 years, and as such I'm sure you can imagine I have countless miles under my belt. I've been backing up into spots for quite a few years now and I'm glad to see somebody showing newer drivers how to do it because it makes it a lot safer for everyone involved.
It really does make it safer for everyone. I do it whenever possible, and it’s much safer than backing out of a parking space. It’s good to hear someone with your knowledge and experience add your recommendation to this!
Thank you for this ! My dad didn’t know how to explain it to me , even though I’ve been driving for 2 years already I was always scared to do this ! Thanks !!
Hey, don't worry, I've been driving for 15 years. I still can't reverse park. Heck, I even taught myself how to drive stick shift recently. Learning to drive stick is way easier than learning to reverse park.
I am a new driver. I watched your parking videos and practiced bay and parallel parking based on them. I had to do reverse parking, forward parking, and parallel parking. I passed my driving test on the first attempt. Thank you for your excellent explanations.
My driving test is next week and I have to do this for my test. I’ve been driving for 2-3 years with my learners and have practiced this before and I know I can back up but I’m really nervous so I keep watching this video 3 times a day, it’s actually quite helpful so thank you so much!
It always makes me happy when I see drivers like you that are watching videos and doing all they can to learn how to become a better driver. That shows me that you're going to be one of the good ones! Keep practicing and your confidence will build, and I'm sure you'll do great on your test. Thanks for watching.
Stan Cravens Thanks for the reply! I practiced doing this for an hour today. At first I kept touching and going over the lines and it was a bit frustrating, but I kept doing it and I got better and ended up not touching the lines at all. Thank you so much for this video!
i just started learning this today despite driving normally for about 9 months and I find it so hard, especially because my dad isn’t familiar with the move either! thanks so much for this video. I feel so much better, this is so well explained!!
I'm the only person in my family that never backs in to a space regularly. The only time I remembers back in if they are instructed to at a funeral home with a small parking lot just before the funeral procession starts. However in that situation someone will usually guide you into the spot.
I am starting to drive tomorrow on my own, I’ve passed the test but I’ve really not had a grip of the reverse thing but just after watching this video I’ve learnt a lot & im going to update how it goes later on !
Congratulations on passing your test...that's a great achievement! Yes, please update me on your progress with driving and backing...I wish you the best!
I’m 52 and never lived anywhere that really needed this skill. But here we are, different city and different ways to do things 🙄😅! Your video was really helpful. I tried it a few times and it works. Thank you!
Thank you!! I have my test today and am just doing a couple little refreshers! This was so easy to follow, I'm shocked you don't havepre views. Wish me luck!
Thank you for sharing both left and right sides. I'd never been shown how to reserve park, although I've been driving for decades. I recently bought my first car and started using our condo's parking garage. However, the spots are quite narrow, and mine is against a wall. I had to go back and forth 20 times to make it work every time I parked, which was not only embarrassing, but took too much time. I finally found your video this morning and was able to park so easily that a woman stopped me afterwards to remark on how impressive my parking is! hahaha! Thank you.
Hi I watched this video about 4 months ago for advice on reverse parking, and just today, I passed my road test. Thank you very much for your advice sir!
I passed my driving test. I watched your videos several times, which was really helpful. I have no idea I have to find a reference stop before reverse until your video. I’d appreciate it very much.
Congratulations on getting your license! That’s a great feeling. Glad to hear you’re going to practice this skill... it can come in handy sometimes. Take care and drive safe!
Thank you so much, this video has legit inspired me for this weekends drive. I have been going at it for a month and I just bought my first car and boy am I excited.
Sorry, I know it can be frustrating. It does help to take a break from it, and after hours of doing it, I bet you really needed one. The next time you try it, everything might just click for you. It’s often little things we’re doing that throw us off when we’re learning something like this. And remember to try slightly different reference points to see what works best, and be sure you’re turning your steering wheel all the way when you start your backing turn. Best of luck…you really can do this.
I had the exact thing happen the first time. I got my reverse in after like 3 tries then hit the curb while pulling out. I felt like such a dummy and I was stressed that my dad would freak out. I had to wait a month!
Just got gifted a 2009 chevy silverado. Im a tiny 5"4' girl. Many people told me (as i soon figured out) youre better off backing into a spot as opposed to going forward. This video was so so helpful!! Thank you :)
Hello, thank you so very much for this tutorial. I backed in once using this reference method, (i practiced countless times to get my reference point) did the test yesterday and passed after 3 fails. My out of country license is now a done deal.... thank God
Yes, different wheelbases and other factors affect the turning radius of a vehicle making it important to work this out for your specific vehicle. Thanks for watching!
Lol! Well, I hope it helps...the main thing is just to get plenty of practice and don’t stress over it too much. Practice somewhere that isn’t very busy.
Ohh thank you. After watching your video and practice. I did my first reverse parking today. I saw many UA-camrs I didn't understand any of them. Like my algebra class lol. Yours was very easy , detailed. Thank you again!!!!
Very interesting as I'm on driving lessons..I've stored this in my head for when I start doing bay parking..very interesting to watch..also my husband takes me out on a Sunday in his car to practise bay parking in the aldi carpark..I love it..and I will get there..hopefully pass my test this year 2022 😊
Best of luck to you on passing your test! You’re watching videos and practicing this skill, so I’m sure you will do great on your test when the time comes. Thank you for watching this video!
Thank you sir for this. Nobody ever mentioned to me the rule of thumb about which way to turn your steering wheel. I've never driven before and I just had few driving practices with different people. Now I just need to go out there and practice this.
That's the key...just keep practicing. By doing that, you're creating a habit that will stick with you and become automatic when you need to do it. Thank you very much for watching!
I used your guide and I got it bang on between the lanes on my first go (coming from someone who's never done a reverse park without some adjustments on the way back). Now to get it done with cars parked in the spots to the side
This was good. I been driving for years but never learned to back into spots. I always drive in. This was helpful I’m going to start practicing. Thank you
I have my test tmr and I was pretty confident after doing these parking maneuvers with my instructor. I practiced today on a whim with my mom and I ended it in tears and am totally discouraged now. I lost all knowledge of how to reverse into a stall and parallel park. Wish me luck tomorrow I hope I don’t make a fool of myself😭
This was really easy to understand and you did it so smoothly compared to other videos i have seen . I'm going to practice in a few hours and tomorrow morning before my road test. I hope i pass.
I have my driving exam in couple of days and this was really good help. About to go practice some parking with these tips in mind. Really good advice keep it up.
I haven't practiced my reference points when reverse parking on the left, because my driving school only taught me parking to the right, cause it's the most used,so i just assume they will only make me do a right side parking in my road exam tomorrow. If not, your tips helped,to be centered with the parking lines on the left,so shouldn't be any harder than a right side parking🤗💙
Thanks for this! I'm looking into parking parallel and reverse parking early so i have a general idea before it comes up in lessons. It's also nice to see my own car being used for something like this :)
I would like to say “THANK YOU” 🥹😭 I passed my road test today ! I didn’t have time to practice 90 degree parking. I watched your video more than 5 times and tried to remember all the techniques! 🎉 thank you again !
I don't know how anyone can learn driving by reading the handbook alone.... I NEEDED these videos thank you! It's very detailed, with lots of road views examples, calming tone! Very useful thank you for putting this up.
Thanks for the video 🙏 It’s been a very horrific story for me😢 I don’t know why I don’t have luck whenever it comes to getting my test it’s either I’m with a bad supervisor or I’m just the one with the problem, I have failed my test thrice now and I was fed up not until I was told to hire a test drive professional who could help me skip the test and get my license which I did and I got my license now.
Oh that’s a very heart touching story , sounds as if we both be in the same shoes I been unlucky twice and I’m actually fed up tbh 😵how can I hire a test drive professional please?
I totally understand but if you don’t mind because I’m not sure I can find one where I am. CAN YOU PLEASE RECOMMEND ME TO YOUR TEST DRIVE PROFESSIONAL?
I practised this so much before my license test - and then - I was asked to parallel park, which my instructor for whatever reason, did NOT teach me. It went smoothly though. Just except someone's dog suddenly decided to run between the cars, and "sit" in my spot, just as I was about to manouver the car into place. I mumbled: "yeah doggie, you can sit there until your owner gets to you, we'll keep you safe until then". Got my license in first try, after a very short (and hilarious) test. :) It's all about staying calm, and keeping an eye on what is going on around your vehicle.
Thank you for your teaching so clearly. Reverse parking is my weakness and an instructor shouted at me for not getting it on my third try that;s why i losing my confidence in learning how to drive. but with this video, everything is clearer now. Thank you again :)
Sorry to hear about your experience with your instructor...yelling at a student doesn't help them learn...it makes it harder, in fact. Don't give up on yourself, just keep practicing and studying, and you'll get it. Hang in there!
I know it might not seem like a big deal to most Yanks, but thanks for including metric units in your video; it really helps us to visualize and understand what you meant better
Driving test tomorrow, got everything down including this but this is the one thing I’m a little worried about. Good luck to everyone taking their tests soon!

I almost failed because I was unfamiliar with reverse bay parking until your video helped me with tips and reminders. I didn’t practice but gave you a 👍🏼. I always thought that I was the only one who couldn’t reverse park, but I was surprised of how many views this video gets. So I guess I’m not alone.
Hello Stan, simplicity personified! great explanation and simple steps. Will you please make a tutorial for parallel parking as well? Thanks in advance!
I feel so cool reverse parking 😂 I park and look around to see what other cars reverse parked, If im pretty much the only one I think to myself yup I’m badass 😂 gotta get better at it tho I’m still a bit slow
How to reverse park:
1. Take a deep breath
2. Pray I do not hit anything
You took a lot less time to explain how to do it than me!
🤭🤭🤭
its better than backing out of a parking spot and hitting a person

Thank you, I hope it came across clearly. I appreciate you taking the time to watch it and to comment!
This is totally deserving of the 1.5 million views.
Clear, concise instructions. Much appreciated.
Thanks for watching!
i just got my license yesterday and can’t wait to practice reverse parking with the help of this video !
Congratulations on getting your license! That’s a great feeling. Glad to hear you’re going to practice this skill... it can come in handy sometimes. Take care and drive safe!
Awesome
Thanks for keeping it very simple, it gains confidence of new drivers like me. Waiting for more such useful videos
I very much appreciate your watching the video and I’m glad it helped!
Thanks!
Thank you very much for that, and it wasn't necessary, but was very kind of you!
Thank you I will practice reversing and parallel parking dozens of times before I go in to take the test
Best of luck on your test! You can do it, and practicing is the best thing to be doing beforehand.
same lol
you are a god send thank you i’m stressing out so bad for my test tmr
I’m three years late but same!! I’m soo scared for the parking portion 🥲
@Alli_B96 Never too late! Keep practicing🙂
Thank you so much, this video has legit inspired me for this weekends drive. I have been going at it for a month and I just bought my first car and boy am I excited.
That's a huge milestone when you buy your first car...congratulations! Have fun this weekend!
Practiced this for hours today and ended in tears. Thanks for the help, hope i pass my test in 3 days
I'm very glad it helped, and thanks for taking the time to watch it!
Hello, thank you so very much for this tutorial. I backed in once using this reference method, (i practiced countless times to get my reference point) did the test yesterday and passed after 3 fails. My out of country license is now a done deal.... thank God
Congratulations on getting the license...well done!
I'm glad you did it with a second vehicle explaining not all vehicles will be the same, ty
Yes, different wheelbases and other factors affect the turning radius of a vehicle making it important to work this out for your specific vehicle. Thanks for watching!
my mother is making me watch this because i cannot park to save my life
Lol! Well, I hope it helps...the main thing is just to get plenty of practice and don’t stress over it too much. Practice somewhere that isn’t very busy.
And if my video doesn’t help, please watch someone else’s until you find the right one for you!
Practice at church parking lots
JonesiBoy Beastmode that’s what I’m doing right now 😂
JonesiBoy Beastmode or schools
Have not seen a video where it’s explained so well. I wish u had more videos about parking. Love ur video
Thanks for the nice comment and I’m glad it helped. Thanks so much for watching!
Ohh thank you. After watching your video and practice. I did my first reverse parking today. I saw many UA-camrs I didn't understand any of them. Like my algebra class lol. Yours was very easy , detailed. Thank you again!!!!
Great job! Glad to hear it helped.
It is literally a no nonsense video.. great Sir! For a novice driver like me,this parking method really works.. Thank you 🙏
I’m glad to hear it helped you, and thanks a lot for watching!
Glad it went well for you! What that done, I’m sure you’ll do great with parking between other vehicles too.
Thank you,very helpful.
Did my drive test today and passed. Had to come back here and thank you for the great job you do
That’s awesome!! Really glad to hear you passed…all your studying and practice paid off. It was all you, Joan!
This was good. I been driving for years but never learned to back into spots. I always drive in. This was helpful I’m going to start practicing. Thank you
Glad to hear you're going to start trying this out...just be patient with yourself, put in the practice, and you'll be backing up in no time!
@@HowSkills thank you
I have my test tmr and I was pretty confident after doing these parking maneuvers with my instructor. I practiced today on a whim with my mom and I ended it in tears and am totally discouraged now. I lost all knowledge of how to reverse into a stall and parallel park. Wish me luck tomorrow I hope I don’t make a fool of myself😭
Hope it all went well, Rosie. Sorry you had the bad experience before your test.
@@HowSkills I ended up failing lol but thanks🥲
Right! It feels so different. For me it’s just about confidence or I’ll freak
Thank you for posting this! My test is scheduled in few days here in Canada and the anxiety is building up here.
I understand that feeling! Good luck on your test...you’ll do great!
I never had to do reverse parking in Alberta and I got a Class 4 last year. What province is this?
@@rubyrose49 In BC you have to reverse park in road test.
@@sitav6661 That's interesting. I think we should have the reverse parking on the road test.
This was really easy to understand and you did it so smoothly compared to other videos i have seen . I'm going to practice in a few hours and tomorrow morning before my road test. I hope i pass.
Update! I passed !- I practiced a lot but I was able to get it thanks to this video.
Finally I found the perfect video for reverse parking. Other videos don’t show the steering wheel. You showed it here. Thanks
Thanks for this! I'm a visual learner and this helped more than my instructor, lol.
I'm the same way...if I can see it demonstrated, there's a lot better chance I'll grasp the concept. Thanks a lot for watching!
I have my driving exam in couple of days and this was really good help. About to go practice some parking with these tips in mind. Really good advice keep it up.
Best of luck on your driving test…bet you’ll do great!
With this video, i parked perfectly backing up twice
Good luck, Jessica! You can do it!
I have a drivers test on Friday. I need this
Best of luck on your drivers test!
Thanks for this! I'm looking into parking parallel and reverse parking early so i have a general idea before it comes up in lessons. It's also nice to see my own car being used for something like this :)
Love it that we have the same car! Good luck with your upcoming lessons...I'm sure you'll do great.
I would like to say “THANK YOU” 🥹😭 I passed my road test today ! I didn’t have time to practice 90 degree parking. I watched your video more than 5 times and tried to remember all the techniques! 🎉 thank you again !
Great job! Glad to hear you passed, and now go out and enjoy that license!
I don't know how anyone can learn driving by reading the handbook alone.... I NEEDED these videos thank you! It's very detailed, with lots of road views examples, calming tone! Very useful thank you for putting this up.
I'm glad to hear it helped, and thank you for watching!
This is one of the best videos I've seen for this. Thank you!!
Thank you for watching and for the kind comment - take care!
I need u tube
U tune
I watched this video the day of my driving test and passed! Thanks!! This made the most sense out of all the explanations and tutorials
That's awesome! Glad to hear you passed your test - all your practice and studying paid off. Now go and enjoy having that new license!
I’ve been driving for many years. But for whatever reason I never mastered this maneuver. Thanks for the detailed explanation. 🙌🏽
You're very welcome!
The Best video and the way you talk is very calm and halps alot ( without pressure ) Thanks! I hope i can past my driving test on friday ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Thank you for watching, and I hope you do great on your test Friday!
Thanks for the video 🙏
It’s been a very horrific story for me😢 I don’t know why I don’t have luck whenever it comes to getting my test it’s either I’m with a bad supervisor or I’m just the one with the problem, I have failed my test thrice now and I was fed up not until I was told to hire a test drive professional who could help me skip the test and get my license which I did and I got my license now.
Glad to hear that you have your license now and all the bad experiences are behind you!
Oh that’s a very heart touching story , sounds as if we both be in the same shoes I been unlucky twice and I’m actually fed up tbh 😵how can I hire a test drive professional please?
I’m hoping to hear from you soon
Well like I said earlier I hired, do the best thing is for you to check your environment and hire one...
Sounds like you had the right attitude and did a great job on the test!
I’ll try to remember that in the future every time I give measurements. Thanks for the comment!
Driving test tomorrow, got everything down including this but this is the one thing I’m a little worried about. Good luck to everyone taking their tests soon!
And especially good luck to you on your test tomorrow…bet you’re gonna do great!
@@HowSkills thank you very much Stan! I passed with one mistake and I’m beyond exited. Was so nervous. This video definitely helped for the test. Thanks!

I just passed my road test in St. John's, Newfoundland😄😄🤩🤩And this video was very helpful! I am grateful to you sir! I almost failed because I was unfamiliar with reverse bay parking until your video helped me with tips and reminders. Seriously, thank you for helping this college guy pass and finally get his full license!
Glad to hear you passed your road test...that's awesome! All props go to you for the time you spent studying, researching, and practicing.
I have no problems when reverse parking. I do it very easily, but your video and the subtitles helped me improve my English a little bit more, as I'm not a native English speaker :). Thanks Stan.
I’m glad to hear it helped in some way! Thank you for watching.

You’re definitely not alone in this…I’ve found that it’s a very common thing. And thanks for watching and the thumbs up…I appreciate it very much!
Passed my road test, thank you for your videos.
Great job! Congratulations to you for the study and practice you put in to get your license.
Splendid!!!!
Thank you so much Stan, I just did my test and needed to reverse into the parking spot. Did it perfectly!

I feel so cool reverse parking 😂 I park and look around to see what other cars reverse parked, If im pretty much the only one I think to myself yup I’m badass 😂 gotta get better at it tho I’m still a bit slow
This may be the best reverse park tutorial I’ve ever seen, thank you!
