Finally a true "review" on these keyboards. These days when you search for reviews you get a bunch of unboxing videos.
That’s because not all reviewers know how to actually play the piano.

Cool 🎉
Great review. THX Hugh Jackman.
bOii I-
Lol. Never saw the resemblance until this comment.

i laughed so hardㅡ
😅😅
I'm hoping these companies keep improving these. The concept itself is a terrific idea! But like EVERYTHING, it takes several attempts to perfect
Yeah I don’t think this will ever quite work but you never know!
My three yr old is obsessed with the piano. This seems like a nice introduction to the instrument for a young child (Who can be a bit rough and tumble at times) without paying big bucks. We can graduate to a keyboard and then a real piano as he gets older. Thank you for your review.
Don't do that to your child. Buy a decent keyboard. If not the best.

Other people: Guitar is better than the piano because you can carry it everywhere.

I love how there is no judgement behind this. Just... it’s there. Is it good? Can’t tell. But it’s there!
(I know it’s because of the format of the meme, I just think that makes it even funnier, lol)
Still piano is better

The sound is not bad. but that clicky peddle is so silly. And the keys themselves are not suitable for much besides ...a little fun.
Mark Innes the sound is not the worst but it’s also not good.
Lmao it's Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth. Basically Windows' MIDI soundfont since 1996

Thanks for the review! I'm a singing teacher and just need one literally to run scales with students who don't have a piano at home. So I feel like a roll up will suffice. I needed to see someone playing one. Thanks!
Cool idea I like the idea of a piano that i can move out of sight Like my space clear.
My house is too small so this is perfect for me ;-;
This is just the beginning. Some time soon they’ll be amazing I’m sure

This the best review I ve seen in ages. - PERFECT -

@@arunavenkatraman9883Venkatraman: The market and demand will decide. :-D
Awwwww your comment is so surportive and cute . I like the idea too
@PianoManiac this one specifically (the reviewed product) wasn't half bad, the thing it needs is a market for it to grow.
I would imaging it having cloth-like outputs example, cloth-like buttons above the keys than just on the right side and the speaker is above the keys and the sounds produce by vibration that activates the speaker

Glad to have someone who knows the instrument to give a real review. Thanks.
it sounds so beautiful ! That’s awesome!
Thanks for your videos. I use a Blackstar carry-on folding piano when I'm abroad (got from Amazon UK) . It's got 88 keys and sustain pedal. The keys aren't weighted, nor are they quite as long as a real piano. But certainly good enough for keeping up and doing various work on. It's been invaluable to me. I think it was about £90.
Hey Jill. If it works for you that’s great. Thanks for sharing!
For a start, they are not that badly off. We hope over the next couple of years they can make the roll up piano a competitive product in solving a number of problems for both students, teachers and performers.
Not sure when you presented this, but I use the keyboards for group class. Each student has their own that way they can play their scales, chords, cadences, intervals, finding notes etc. Great for the groups.
How much piano
Fun to watch! I have a buddy, wanting to learn piano, who was thinking about getting one of these roll-ups - he's got a space problem at home.

Enjoyed the tips and review. I guess something to practice with better than nothing! Keep up the good work and honestly sir!
For a concert hall pianist a roll piano it's not good enough for practice into the hotelroom. I agree.
But for a songwriter the 88keys roll up piano and a better sustain pedal will be good enough to hang around in nature or other inspiring environments to try out musical ideas and record them instantly.
This roll up piano is made definitively for this second group and not for the first group.
Omg the sound is so much better than I expected. This is absurd
Very helpful indeed! I was thinking of buying one for myself but really am thankful I saw this review.
I just bought an 88 key roll up! Never played the piano before! (I’m saving up for a proper electric keyboard) at lest I now know that they repeat sounds aren’t my fault! So thank you!
Welcome
I will try! I'm too old for start with a grand piano, so, I will play with that toy!
You're never too old to learn .
How's it?
@@artemisackerman6374 I WOULD HAVE SAID THE EXACT SAME THING.
Actually sounds WAY better than I thought the would.
Seems like the better one of the two could be useful for mental exercise, just for memorization and preparedness of mind. A full-size synthesizer is very big, especially if it has 88 full size keys.
this foldable piano is far better : ua-cam.com/video/hdy588PDMqI/v-deo.html
With all the advancements in weighed, hammer-action digital pianos, it seems like a logical next step to make the next generation of them table-top portable and hotel-room friendly, especially since in the ads, they seem so fun and expressive. ...so no dynamic control, notes which cut off super-quickly, notes which mysteriously repeat, tinny overall sound, and an annoying, clicky sustain pedal. So much for wowing my office mates with an impromptu "jingle Bells" improv at the office Christmas party. :) Very useful review. I'm glad I stumbled into this.
Following this viewing, I don't imagine I'll be getting one. I saw a roll up piano - just like this - in a Star Trek:NG episode many years ago. Hopefully the inventors will iron out the glitches before the the 23rd century. Thanks for sharing.
This would be worth it for people who want to learn Piano who have no space for a piano. Also practice while travelling.
no
This was my first keyboard!! I’ve been playing for around 6 years now :))
Would you recommend it for beginners? Good product?
Estefanía Rodríguez it was a gift, wouldn’t have been my first choice, but if you’re really unsure whether keyboard/piano is right for you, it doesn’t hurt to try it (as they can be REALLY cheap). My main issues is that the keys were too sensitive and not sensitive enough most of the time, and it had no weighting/weight reaction. I really only messed about on it learning greensleeves and things like that, it’s more of a toy than an instrument. However again, if you really don’t know whether you’d like to learn piano or not, it’s not a bad purchase, just not as practical as the portable element might make it seem 😅
Emerald Fraser but there is a ceck 4 headphone?🤔
this foldable piano is far better : ua-cam.com/video/hdy588PDMqI/v-deo.html
Thanks for your honesty! I though the feedback from the keys will never be the same and cannot be compensated in any sense when I am travelling. I might rent a studio for practice for a two weeks long holiday.
Totally understand! Sometimes you just need the real thing.
I bought a similar one for when I’m in quarantine at the hotel, just so I’ve got something to use for practice as I’m just a beginner
How was it for a beginner. I got a studio apartment so I have no space for normal piano... Was it good for beginner?
@@reenvillafuerte2333 It wasn’t great to be fair, it was ok for some finger drills but that was all it was really good for.
Nothing beats the feel of feeling an actual keys in your finger tip.
Correct!
:) Roll Up Piano (do not confuse with Roland piano)
lmao
lmao
Even though the first one uses Roland sounds and the 2nd does I think.
What is the difference both are junk. I want one with hammer action feel. But for the most part an upright piano from the 1900 or so will build more technique than these so called electric pianos. That roll up keyboard is good for theory class, then you can use a regular class room instead of tying up the piano or choir room for theory classes.
Oh I forgot that class rooms don't have chalk boards anymore everything is power point or dry eraser boards. You will need staffs or staves (what ever school you come from) to write chord progressions.
Ron B - "I want one with hammer action feel."
That's where the real cost is, making a GOOD key bed. One that doesn't use strips of little black rubber dots that can go bad, has touch/velocity support, and that mechanical feel, which you won't get without some actual mechanicals behind it. Oh, and a pedal that doesn't sound like a click track. While most electronic keyboards with a MIDI-out are vastly better than these fruit roll-ups, very few have a top-quality key bed without a top-quality price.
But at least MIDI means you can get a good keyboard that's just a keyboard, and let something else make the sounds.
Thank you. I've been debating on getting one. I figured that would be the case. I don't need it. This video helped me alot.
He's right, the first one, Love Music, had better tone than the second one. Where can i purchase a Love Music? I'm 70 and i haven't played the piano since i was 13. I used to play classical piano, and i want to get back into it.
its never too late!
I just ordered one that’s chargeable so excited! I hope the Keys work well
How is it. Is it good for beginners and learning music theory
Maybe handy for just working out chords/arrangements for composing while away from home....
Then just bring a midi

thanks for posting this video - it was thorough and VERY helpful. Your effort saved me from going down this rabbit hole and I much appreciate it!
Thanks for the review. I was almost going to purchase one but then changed my mind :D
Update to my previous comment:
Finally received it and its the same one as the one at the start of the video and it is not that bad as you think atleast not the one i got with 88 keys from wish and I tested it with Magix music maker. Not tested with FL studio because i don't have that one. Also tested it with Synthesia.
First it came uncharged, I can confirm that you it turns green once recharged and I recommend recharging it first which I didn't do at first.
So first I started to test the keys and it goes very loud. The buttons are confusing so I haven't figured those out yet but I discoverd how to edit the volume. I also can confirm that it doesn't need Midi cables because it doesn't has those big midi ports and you also don't need a seperate midi port station thing. That USB is actually a midi cable itself. Not only is the USB used to charge it up, its also a midi cable so that it turns into a midi instrument within a DAW program.
If you press the volume button and either + or - at the same time it goes the the volume menu, keep pressing - to completely mute it if its connected to a daw program so that you won't hear the music double. If its not full recharged it and you are not active in a while with it, it automicly turns off and resets the volume again.
I plugged it on my laptop and it actually recognizes the instrument.
Then downloaded synthesia and for some reason synthesia will recognize it but for some reason that app will not let it play and thats the app its fault so avoid synthesia for this roll up keyboard/piano.
If you have magix music maker no matter what edition you are in luck. When you go to the settings in magix music maker it actually recognizes the keyboard when you go to audio/midi however the virtual keyboard on it will not play at first when you try to use that roll up piano for it. You disconnect and re-connect again and see if magix still detects it. Make sure that the keyboard/piano is also on. It should recognize it, if you already added other keyboards to magix and this one is connected it should be on the list can't remember the name because it tried it on a friend his computer and i forgot how it was called so before trying it on your DAW, you first go to your pc itself and check the name of it, it should be connected with all the other stuff you plugged into your pc.
When you close magix and restart magix it should work. You will then notice that you will hear the sound twice. On you laptop/pc and on the keyboard itself. This can be fixed. You just need to turn off the volume of the roll up piano itself. Go to the buttons of the roll up piano and press the volume button and either + or - at the same time so that it directs you to the volume menu. Now keep pushing - a few times until it goes to 000, then don't touch the buttons on the speaker itself anymore because you can now play the roll up piano through magix music maker without hearing the tones double.
Make sure that the piano never turns off so once in a while check if its fully charged and now can enjoy playing the virtual keyboard on magix while playing on the roll up piano. This will also make it easier now to create music because you don't need to use the keys on your pc keyboard anymore.
If you don't use a DAW, you can still practice on the piano by connecting it to a USB port and just experiment with it.
I also discovered that it can remember some of the tones that you played earlier and it also has a tutorial thing on it that I don't fully understand yet.
The flat buttons are satisfying to me but you need to get used to it, it will take some time. Its defently better than those keyboards that childeren used to have.
I used to own a keyboard on batteries for childeren when I was younger which didn't have 88 keys and that made me used to piano keys but this roll up piano defently sounds better then those cheap keyboards for childeren.
The reason I bought it was for Magix music maker.
Nice honest review 👌saved me from a headache when purchasing one of these
Great video, I already my piano app and I’m hungry to learn how to play classic music, and you help me out a lot! Thank you and the best for, I want to learn how to read the notes as well, today I learn the C and D.... better than nothing
I think it's a FANTASTIC option for parents who are considering purchasing a piano for their child. It's a whole lot cheaper than trying to purchase a REAL piano - THAT'S for sure. You know children go through all kinds of phases in their lives. Most drop out of piano lessons early on as well. So to me, this would be a great option for a parent to purchase.
Thanks for this. You answered most of the questions I had. I think I will hold off on buying one, and maybe in the next couple of years the technology will improve a little. The concept is awesome!
Even if it's not the BEST quality it is rlly good to start learning. I'd rather learn on this then move onto a real piano or keyboard than to buy a real one and have it dust in a corner if it's not for me thank you for the review : )
Thanks so much for your review on roll up pianos. What a great help this has been!
I have never used a roll up piano however the comparisons between these two fine examples of utter perfection is amazing.
got the same roll up piano as the second one. i totally agree with all of your reviews.
Thanks Galaxy lover. Ps I love galaxies too!
I think that for a professional like you, this doesn't seem great. But for an amateur or for someone without a lot of space this thing is AWESOME. I'd love one of these.
Of course, depending on the price.
I also love how clear the sounds are.

7:57 CAT ALERT!
Ok
And in 7:02 too hahah
I DO KNOW THAT CATS LOVE MUSIC. THE ONE I USED TO HAVE LOVED MARIAH CAREY BEST.
Just a note here, the Konix is 1 & #1 (#2 in the notes above).
are the keys very thin? do you feel it moving down when you press it?
only a very tiny bit my cousin has one
oh okay thanks, it has all the keys needed so i guess that's fine
The most frustrating quality with these is it feels like a hollow rubber. If you tap it too lightly, or in the wrong spot of a ‘key’, you might not get a sound. But if you make sure to tap it properly, you’ll occasionally (frequently) get double inputs and sound terrible.
Not good for sounds with a fast attack. Decent for harmony with pads, maybe strings etc. Sometimes I just set something heavy on the sustain pedal and use it for a drone haha (wouldn’t recommend this with their built in sounds)
That's a good question, I thought the same....
that was exactly what i was thinking
I had the same issue with the piano "doubling" the notes, it's a matter lay your finger over the key instead of using just your fingertip
*nice table*
They seem like a good option for beginners
I'm now so glad I bought a good keyboard instead of going for the 'cheap' option to learn. I would have ditched it I think if I had one.
As a long time musician The biggest problem with this product is that the black keys are not much higher than the white keys... That would be a huge problem when playing fast music like Chopin's Revolutionary or Beethoven third movement from moon light sonata... However it would be very useful for street performers not carrying around a big piano...And is a good option for those with little space or kids. Great review.
that winter sonata theme song got me! haha
When manufacturers make keyboards they normally use Octave modules per board. In other words, inside the keyboard it is divided up into separate octave boards. I think it would be a relatively easy conversion to take almost any midi controller keyboard and cut the case and divide the octave boards, reattaching the boards with a plug cable, and secure the case components with some 3D printed parts, or maybe a hinge. Upon searching, I found a few modular designs, however I think the conversion process for a MIDI controller would be quite trivial provided you know a little bit of CAD, 3D Printing and electronics.
Apple butterfly keyboard (I mean piano).
Well neither of them are too great.
Alexa lol yeah!
wow that sounds good for a roll up piano

Thank you for this useful review. I escaped from war, and I was looking to buy something for a temporary replacement. Thanks to this video, I've changed my mind, I won't be buying one of these. I guess, I'll go with an ordinary electronic keyboard.
I've tried it and,as said in the video, there will be repeated keys and that really annoys me,I tried playing simple song such as flea waltz but still, ussualy the repeated keys are on the white keys, black keys however are far more better
in case you wanted to know the glitching is probably from not keeping the note pressed, as a piano player you would be used to lossen the fingers after the "press down" with just enough pressure to keep the note from muting i would think, this "semipressed" pressure wil cause it to jump back to "no sound input" but very close to "sound input" (from the computers perspective XD ) but electicity can sometimes jump through air and play the note again or you can press it by accident since your already so close to playing it, so try it wilst pressing down hard and keep the fingers presses till the note needs to stop. I think that should work. let me know if it did.
I just wanna buy this to play anime songs lol.
Same!! Haha
Lol I want to play songs from Your Name
That’s a hell you’re walking into.. We all ended up buying a real piano at the end.

4:27 your cat is calling for you!
I used it for a jam session with my daughter, she played the guitar. It was fun but it's not easy to play swiftly. Hey, you did an incredible good job, though!
Why thank you 🙏🏻
Sounds like the cat was telling him to shut that thing off. LOL
It could help practice theory, when students don't have a piano or keyboard at home. It can also be used in group lessons. Studying counterpoint in the music academy, I was reliant on the piano time I could get at the academy, but looked for something simple and cheap to study with at home. And although I wouldn't use it to play the piano myself, I could utilize it to teach very beginners the catch of playing a melody or a chord. It would be awesome to use it for teaching the circle of fifths visually, too!
If it's just a reference in theory classes - sure. But otherwise I'd steer clear.
One thing you didn't mention, is the cost...but I know you've provided links...I have severe arthritis, often bedridden...I keep my portable sythesizer by my bedside so I can play in bed...but I've been thinking of buying one of these...to me is better than nothing. Wow...compared to my Boston/Steinway 6 ft grand piano...hands down sounds much better....If I end up having to live in a tiny house, I can sell my big piano and buy a few thousand of these roll-away keyboard...AND no neighbors to complain about my banging the 88 keys in middle of the night whenever I get up, practice...still working on "Three Bland Mice"...life over the edges of Boring Oregon changes everything. I wonder if the prisons would allow them? I couldn't fathom being an accomplished pianist and living without my piano...that would be torture!
do you think this is good enough to use on DAWs or software for beginners?
He does looks like Hugh Jackman 😅
He is a lucky guy😎

Excellent review. I was wondering about these and you saved me feom the drama, lol.
Great review. :-) This would definitely not work for me though. But it’s pretty cool!
I think it's more for kids and people who can't afford pianos at home to at least give kids the idea of how to put their hands and stuff so I mean for that purpose I think it still works
Debatable 🤪
Now we can bring a 'piano' everywhere LOL
I have had a lot of fun with cheap music keyboards purchased at thrift stores. Some have voices that sound great to me. Sometimes the keys rattle a bit but I like just about all the ones I've tried. I don't think I could adjust to roll out flat pianos with squeaky foot pedals and that skip notes!
(I recommened same as this piano but the silicon drum set)I used that kind of piano for years it is actually really helpful because it sound a real piano.....I learn bcoz of this flexible piano but I have a different brand I also have the silicon drum set...🙈🙉🙊
So I stumbled onto your channel again by chance. Yet again, very helpful videos.
Thanks Hu. Hope you subscribed!
Thanks, very useful.
It would be useful if it has midi in rather than midi out.
Tim Topham for fun I guess, just to experiment just with the different sound plus it could be a SUPER (decent) portable midi controller
@@ChrisMartinez-py7mv a midi controller uses midi out for a DAW (digital audio interface) like GarageBand or fl studio
aman Sood that’s true I actually forgot about that I guess that takes what I said out of the picture due to no interface
I actually liked the sound of the Flexible one although the pedal is clicking, but I'm sure they'll rectify the problem.
