I have 2021 Vcore 98. I added 4" lead tapes to each side of the 3 and 9. I then added 2 dimes to the butt cap as I like to keep the similar balance which is 6 pts. Weight of the racquest is now approx 12 oz with swing weight about 330.
With this customization, I am able to stabilize the the racket when hitting against big hitters.
      Note:
I found an unexpected bonus: I used to miss a lot of overheads but now I miss a lot less due to the extra weight.
I practice shadow swinging with a 5 lbs weight at home during meetings (working from home). That helps me with the swing.
I didn't start out at 4" lead tape right off the bat. I started with short strips. That was fun but still lacking
Then Technifibre 2 grams lead tape and that was physically straining. Even though I hit well.
Hopefully you will find it fun testing our different variation.

I picked one up a couple weeks ago and was able to practice some dubs with it. My partner had the new V Core 98 so I was able to switch back and forth. I was pretty surprised how stable it was at net. I've never played with any of the previous versions but I usually play with a blade 98, and I found this thing super maneuverable in comparison. The feel is also great. I still getting used to it, but stable, easy to move, good feel... I am stoked to play some doubles matches with it.

Hey Karue, I'd love to hear more of your thoughts on customization. You had mentioned putting a leather grip on the last gen VCORE 95, and now (seemingly) only adding lead to the tip of this version, which I imagine creates very different hitting experience. As background, I was a D1 level lacrosse player who took up tennis in my late 20's with the help of my incredibly athletic gf who played D1 tennis. I love to try as many racquets, strings (I bought a Tourna stringer over COVID), grips, lead weighting etc. I play best with the VCORE 95 (last gen), and can't wait to try the new model. Crazy enough, my 2nd fav racquet is the Blade SW 102 (full 1 inch extended) - maybe because of the handle length, as you mention as a Yonex plus in this video. It would be interesting to get your thoughts on sticks like the SW 102, which can be absolute cannons in the right hands, but seems to be difficult to adapt to for players who's muscle memory is standard length. Keep up the quality content!

I switched from 2018 to 2021 to 2023 Vcore 95. One thing I also noticed is higher launch angle and it wears strings a lot faster with the more open spacing

    • @TheJstaples
      @TheJstaples 2 місяці тому

Yeah i'm using the 98 and also have a big adjustment to the high launch angle. I think the head shape helps for serving though, it moves the sweetspot up the racquet toward the tip so its a bit like serving with an extended length racquet.

Great vid, Karue. Would love to see a video about your customization. Did you have the lead just on one side? Also, looks like it was double-upped. So looks like you had 2-3g of lead on the one side? I used to play with the 2018 version and loved it till I had a slight preference change. I like that you stressed about it being rounder on the top. I play a PAVS and a Gravity Pro and I like the rounder shape of the GPro. This racquet might just be a more controlled replacement for the GPro I think.

Great watching you Sir. Thanks for your wonderful insights in tennis. I am using ezone 98 2022 and I am Ok with it, but at times as I am a big swinger and like deep shots..I feel ezone some times gives too much power and balls go flying. Do you think vcore will control that and let me take big and faster swings..I am considering to switching it. Also I love playing with 95 as I played a bit with wilson ncode six one 95 and I like its control and stability and head light nature suits my game.

Have to agree with the review. I've now had the 2023 Vcore 95 for about 1 month. But am loving it and with every hit it feels better and better as I gel more with it.
Volleys was the last thing that clicked for me, but even that now is starting to feel really nice. Thats mainly because I came from a 100inch head down to the 95 and so reaction volleys had little less room to deal with them. But have dialed that in.
Is low powered, but I put in syn gut at 52lb and that feels right for me. Because its low powered with good control, I have more confidence in where my shots are going, which makes me play more aggressive and so am as a result probably hitting at least as quick as I was with my Pure Drive.
So honeymoon is over but it keeps feeling more and more like for lack of better term extension of arm, the more I play with it. So this ones a keeper for me.
P.s: as we know there is no one racquet for everyone and I grew up playing with 95s in the 1990s, so it suits me.

    Summary this video
The 2023 VCORE 95 is highly recommended by the reviewer, Kuru, who plans to use it as his daily driver.
The racket's paint job is a temporary one given to pros to practice with before the final design is released.
Yonex has widened the upper hoop of the racket, which creates a larger hitting zone, making it more stable and forgiving than previous generations.
The racket's string pattern is still 16x20, but the squares are wider, resulting in a slightly more powerful and spin-friendly racket.
The new VCORE 95 has a lower beam stiffness of 61, making it slightly softer and easier on the arms compared to previous generations.

I have a question: I kind of fell in love with vcore 95 too, but only caveat for me was on serve returns. I feel like to control the ball with vcore 95 you need to spin it some. That works great for everything except returns, so I ended up wristing most returns instead of a somewhat flat redirection like I used to with a pure drive. I could place the ball deep, but not with much penetration. Is it due to head size, or is it just something about my technique, or lack of experience with this racquet? Any thoughts? Thanks.

    • @Karueselltennis

I find it great to return so not sure if it is the racket. But I think form, skill level and all that plays a bit more into it. Also some weight on the head for extra stability might help

This is such a dumb thing to focus on but I simply cannot vibe with the look of the new hoop shape, haha. I loved the feel of the previous gen vcore 95, but even then the flattened shape of the isometric hoop bothered me. Now it's more exaggerated and I just can't do it.
I've always preferred smaller head sizes because I grew up playing an all-court game and learned with 85 and 90 square inch rackets, settling into 95s later on. But at this point I'd rather play with a 97 or 98 than a vcore that's been sqashed and stretched to play like a bigger frame with a higher twist weight. It looks so weird!
Again, I know this is irrational. But I think I'll stick to nice smooth ovals like Babolat and Wilson.

    Hey Karue,
Great review. What strings do you recommend with this?
On a separate note, my daughter is playing with the previous gen vcore 98, and she would like to work on getting a bit more consistency on her return of serve. Many returns are hit hard, but just catching the tape. Is there any recommendation about different strings (maybe?) to change launch angle? She's using the Lux Alu Power at 52 pounds.
Alternatively, is this where she might consider changing frames, but retaining her existing stroke mechanics?
    Thanks,
    R

    • @tank9758
      @tank9758 Рік тому

Could you give an approximate of what her level is? If its returning serves that are hitting the net with enough power that might mean that she has decent time to react to the ball (hence her ability to produce power) so getting closer to the baseline will help the ball get through the net as she catches it on the rise. If that doesnt work, try to catch the ball further from the baseline as this really gives some extra time for her to just punch the ball upwards with spin which is something that Medvedev does in his game.
Overall I think that a frame change isnt necessary but an exploration on spinnier strings might help. I've tried Solinco HyperG, Solinco Confidential and Babolat RPM Blast with great success. I also put the tension at 52 lbs.

Her level is training with state level representative players in Sydney. She was nationally ranked in the UK before we returned to Australia, and has trained with Novak's old coach when he was 13.
I think she has a great level, but it's always good to find somewhere to improve.

I've playtested the previous VCore 98 and wasn't a big fan of the feel and lower launch angle. It also felt too muted for me. I have the new VCore 98 and it's a world of a difference. A lot softer on the arm, more plush, and a higher launch angle so a lot of balls will fly at first. It also has a better feel so it's not too muted. I also added 3 grams of lead at 12 for more plow through and a leather grip too. Aside from that, the new VCore 98 is a great update to the previous one!
