Thank you Karue. Very thorough and helpful review. I am interested in seeing more content about your approach to customizing the V Core 95. Thanks again.
I have 2021 Vcore 98. I added 4" lead tapes to each side of the 3 and 9. I then added 2 dimes to the butt cap as I like to keep the similar balance which is 6 pts. Weight of the racquest is now approx 12 oz with swing weight about 330.
With this customization, I am able to stabilize the the racket when hitting against big hitters.
Note:
I found an unexpected bonus: I used to miss a lot of overheads but now I miss a lot less due to the extra weight.
I practice shadow swinging with a 5 lbs weight at home during meetings (working from home). That helps me with the swing.
I didn't start out at 4" lead tape right off the bat. I started with short strips. That was fun but still lacking
Then Technifibre 2 grams lead tape and that was physically straining. Even though I hit well.
Hopefully you will find it fun testing our different variation.
I picked one up a couple weeks ago and was able to practice some dubs with it. My partner had the new V Core 98 so I was able to switch back and forth. I was pretty surprised how stable it was at net. I've never played with any of the previous versions but I usually play with a blade 98, and I found this thing super maneuverable in comparison. The feel is also great. I still getting used to it, but stable, easy to move, good feel... I am stoked to play some doubles matches with it.
Hey Karue, I'd love to hear more of your thoughts on customization. You had mentioned putting a leather grip on the last gen VCORE 95, and now (seemingly) only adding lead to the tip of this version, which I imagine creates very different hitting experience. As background, I was a D1 level lacrosse player who took up tennis in my late 20's with the help of my incredibly athletic gf who played D1 tennis. I love to try as many racquets, strings (I bought a Tourna stringer over COVID), grips, lead weighting etc. I play best with the VCORE 95 (last gen), and can't wait to try the new model. Crazy enough, my 2nd fav racquet is the Blade SW 102 (full 1 inch extended) - maybe because of the handle length, as you mention as a Yonex plus in this video. It would be interesting to get your thoughts on sticks like the SW 102, which can be absolute cannons in the right hands, but seems to be difficult to adapt to for players who's muscle memory is standard length. Keep up the quality content!
I switched from 2018 to 2021 to 2023 Vcore 95. One thing I also noticed is higher launch angle and it wears strings a lot faster with the more open spacing
Yeah i'm using the 98 and also have a big adjustment to the high launch angle. I think the head shape helps for serving though, it moves the sweetspot up the racquet toward the tip so its a bit like serving with an extended length racquet.
Yes, please post a video on your customizations! string tensions, lead weight, etc!
Thanks bro, started the new year out with the new 98s, changed it up to the Pro97s… now the 95 is next on the hit list… love the Vcore line up.. love the feel of the new 23s.
Right on!
Great vid, Karue. Would love to see a video about your customization. Did you have the lead just on one side? Also, looks like it was double-upped. So looks like you had 2-3g of lead on the one side? I used to play with the 2018 version and loved it till I had a slight preference change. I like that you stressed about it being rounder on the top. I play a PAVS and a Gravity Pro and I like the rounder shape of the GPro. This racquet might just be a more controlled replacement for the GPro I think.
Thanks for the video! Would love to learn more about your customizations and, in general, how pros customize their racquets and why
Great video, as always. It has a lower stiffness, does it feel softer on the arm? I play with the 2021 version, strung it with PolyTour Pro, but even at lower tension (48/46 lbs) I have a bit of discomfort in the elbow, especially when the weather is cold.
Thanks for the review man. It turned me on to this racquet and I demoed it along with a few others but fell in love with this one immediately. Just bought two and officially making a racquet switch after a long time sticking with the same prince I used in high school. I’m coming from a 97 inch frame and this genuinely doesn’t feel much different. Cheers Karue!
Good preview, thank you. How would you say it compares to the Blade 98 v8 18x20?
I bought and instantly from ntrp 3.5 this racquet make me play like karue i am now wining hard on itf and planing to go to rg in qualification this year .
As always great review. I play also the 95 2023. But I also play the Ezone 98 2022. which poly setup do you play on the 95?
Hello Karue...thanks for review and your content...back to full poly?...Im playing with my first gut/poly setup and really love it...could you do a video on mindset, strategy when serving after you broke serve especially deep in the set?...next stop 100k!!!
I've been playing with VCore 95 for past 3 years and really like. Haven't tried the new 2023 yet, but looking forward to. (Have to buy new frames, as out of my three old frames, 1 is definitely gone, sounds like baby rattle, the second started to vibrate more). Thank you for the review.
Given the glowing review you gave to tf iso 305. I have a ques? Any downsides when playing with the racket? Also how much weight did you add at the head
Thanks for the review Karue. I'm rocking the VCORE too. Most important question though - what bag are you storing the VCORE 95 in these days?
Thanks Buddy! This video sealed the deal for me to go ahead and buy a couple of those! Its exacly how you described it and I am really enjoying them! I had been previously playing with Guga’s Head Premier Tour, so its a big leap!
Great watching you Sir. Thanks for your wonderful insights in tennis. I am using ezone 98 2022 and I am Ok with it, but at times as I am a big swinger and like deep shots..I feel ezone some times gives too much power and balls go flying. Do you think vcore will control that and let me take big and faster swings..I am considering to switching it. Also I love playing with 95 as I played a bit with wilson ncode six one 95 and I like its control and stability and head light nature suits my game. I am now a recreational player but intend to compete at local tournaments in coming days
Thanks for the nice Review. How would you compare it to the Tfight Iso 305 you reviewed before?
I moved from last generation Vcore 100 to yhe 2023 95 and love it. I can control my shots a lot better and can boom my serve. I am only 3.5 but close to 4.0 player but have a full swing. So far love it.
Hi Karue, which poly are you using at at what tension? Cheers
karue, with the change in the headshape does yonex still recommend stringing the crosses 2 pounds lighter than the mains? i'm much more familiar with the "old school" yonex frames than the newer ones! thanks for a great review!
Hi Karue, nice video mate
What string are you using and which tension?
Thanks mate
Did you testet the 98s? I would be very interested in where you would add a little bit weight
Hey Karue, I currently play with the 98 2021 version do you think it’s THAT big of an upgrade to switch? I currently have tried a ton of rackets with the goal to switch but everytime I come back to my vcore 98. Curious on your thoughts
Bought recently this new frame and after 4 hours of playing I am very happy with it and does perform very well on all shots. Trying to figure out the best set up with strings but this can be a frame for longer than couple of months 😊
Hi! Which do you use strings with this racquet?
Thank you!
Watched Giron beatdown Gomez in person on Tuesday! Clinical. Hopefully the weather cooperates, but not looking good for Friday...
Excellent review. I have the 2021 98 and love it but will give this one a try.
What is the brand of that silver light you have in the desk? Like that too!
Uuh that is a good question. Just got it on amazon I think hahah
What are your favorite full poly setups on this frame? Thanks!
did you talk about the strings ? didnt get it. what was your full poly setup and your hybrid setup ?:)
what are thne gauges of karue's string set up again? and tension please. Thanks
Would be awesome if you share your setup! and also what strings you would recommend for this racket (except the one you are using).
Your recommendation ist the only one I trust. I feel like a lot of other testers don‘t have the game to really make a valid review about this racket, so im always looking forward to your review when a new VC 95 comes out.
100% agree. Only trust his opinion.
Thanks for the review. Do you have any commercial arrangement with yonex at all though? Just curious if this a completely unbiased review - i see Giron uses the racquet and given you have an early release version i presume you have a relationship with Yonex?
In your opinion, if you had to choose one YONEX racquet to go to battle with for DOUBLES only, which would you choose? Would that change if you were 65 years old? I would be grateful for your thoughts.
Hoping for a Galaxy Black version of this racket 🖤🔥
I’ve been really surprised by this racquet. As a fan of smaller head size precision racquets, this stick helps me adapt to the modern game with more power and spin, but all the precision and maneuverability of a 95.
I also completely agree with your take on serve. My serve has never really been a weapon, but for some reason, only with this racquet am I serving bombs and crazy slices and kicks.
I think this new version is less in need of customization than the previous version. This is a big improvement and much easier to use. I like it a lot too. I'd be interested in a customization video. I've only put a leather grip on mine so far.
Totally agree
Have you modified it anymore? I just received a demo and used 2g at 12 and it felt pretty good
@@MrFunkyko I dunno if you're asking me or Karue but I've added some weight at 12 as well. More than you. Little extra plow through and pop on the serve for me.
@@mikedudley9975 sorry, I was asking you. Was just trying to get a gauge of what customization players have been doing since I’ve been demoing this stick
Please tell us you have some of your old yonex frames we would love to hear reviews on them and why you picked them at the time and comparing them to the new yonex frames
Please do the 98 and 100 2023 Vcore too!!! I'm trying to decide if I should upgrade my 2021 Vcores.
Costumasition review of the 95 would be realy great!!
Thank you and love the review. As a yonex fanboy please review the Regna 98 !
Yes, please add a customization video when you can. Good review
great chanel mate. Should i put my trusty 95d stan the man away and give this a try? Cheers
Hey Karue. I wanted to suggest a string setup for you, Wilson makes an NXT and Luxilon adrenaline pre packaged hybrid. Stringing it high like 58+ is insane control and really comfortable. Maybe for the yonex a bit lower since its a 95?
I am actually trying some of those strings right now
@My Tennis HQ That's awesome! If possible please make a video on it. I'd love to hear some thoughts from a pro
This review has me interested. However, besides the surface area and beam width how is this different than the Boom Pro? Can you do a comparison video given the specs are very similar. I have never played w a 95 but I notice the ability to move my Boom Pro through the air vs my Gravity Pro so I would imagine the vcore is more maneuverable than the Boom.
How would you compare the 2023 VCORE 95 to the 2023 Pure Aero 98? Have you tried the new one? I bought the 2021 VCORE 95 and really love it.
2021 Vcore 95 is the best racket I’ve ever used
Karue, big fan of your tennis. I think you have some of the best technique on all strokes I have seen. Not sure why you are not trying to play on the tour! Would love to know your full specs including weight/balance/swing weight on your frames. Mostly interested in your balance and swing weight but will probably need it measured at a pro shop if you don't have the equipment!
he did i’m pretty sure and he coaches Marcos Giron now
Have to agree with the review. I've now had the 2023 Vcore 95 for about 1 month. But am loving it and with every hit it feels better and better as I gel more with it.
Volleys was the last thing that clicked for me, but even that now is starting to feel really nice. Thats mainly because I came from a 100inch head down to the 95 and so reaction volleys had little less room to deal with them. But have dialed that in.
Is low powered, but I put in syn gut at 52lb and that feels right for me. Because its low powered with good control, I have more confidence in where my shots are going, which makes me play more aggressive and so am as a result probably hitting at least as quick as I was with my Pure Drive.
So honeymoon is over but it keeps feeling more and more like for lack of better term extension of arm, the more I play with it. So this ones a keeper for me.
P.s: as we know there is no one racquet for everyone and I grew up playing with 95s in the 1990s, so it suits me.
Any down sides at all yet? Also if u ever hit with a blade 98 how does it compare in terms of power and spin?
@@LiamApiladoBit less power and similar spin to the Blade 98
@LiamApilado the only downside for me is the smaller sweetspot when hitting defensive volleys (if its hard straight at you).
@@tristanpearce78 Thanks your input is very helpful. I'm having a difficult time chosing between 95/98 despite hitting with both for about 2hrs each. Felt the need for more power and spin coming from the blade 98 and wanted to like the vcore98 but felt like a 100 square inch racket to move around and I didn't get nearly as much swing speed than on the 95.
@LiamApilado sounds more like the Ezone 98 would be your best bet if wanting something from Yonex. More power and spin than Blade 98.
But to demo is only way to know for you personally.
What is it compared to the vc98, Wilson blade v8, Babolat pure aero , and vc100
i love the vcore 95 2018, do you think it will be an upgrade?
Finally someone commenting on the grip length of Yonex! My first real racket was a Ezone 100. But I got recommended to also try Babolat PureDrive. And I didn't like the PureDrive because I felt like I didn't have enough space for both hands on my 2H Backhand compared to when I used the Ezone 100. Just ordered a Vcore100 to see if the Vcore suits my game better, for my level I think I need the extra forgiveness the 100 brings to the table :)
Using the Vcore 100 and beginning to like the forgiveness, power and spin, still adapting to control it. What’s your string tension?
@@alng16 Hey, I use Lynx Head Tour Orange 1.25 strung at 23kg/50pounds. Really enjoying my Vcore 100 so far, especially on clay. When I play on hardcourt I am trying to mix it up between using the Vcore and Ezone. My opponents say they notice the difference in spin I am able to create with the Vcore compared to the Ezone (strung the exact same).
Karue - what strings and tension are you using now? Previous video you did a video of your specs and trying out natural gut etc. and the lead tape were in different places toward the mid to bottom, and only one tape on each side versus on all sides… how’s the tape being at the top better/worse to your previous positioning? Great vid!
58 lbs on the strings. I explain why I have the led tape in the video, make sure you watch the whole thing!
@@Karueselltennis lol sorry misunderstood… I meant how is it for you now versus from before? Do you like it better being on the top for accelerating through your shots, or when you had the tapes lower
@@Karueselltennis what gauge?
Karue+Yonex = Onelove 🎉😊
Have you reviewed the function tennis saber?
Thanks for taking the time for a selfie in Houston before Marcos practiced with Jack Sock. I saw you bring out this all red vcore 95 to hit with Marcos a bit afterwards. Are you reviewing the new prostaff? Good luck to Marcos when the rain stops. A video on your full specs would be nice.
yep will review it soon!
Hey Karue!
Could you please review the VCORE 98 2023 and compare it to the previous 2021 model?
Great review. Can someone explain launch angle? Is that where you are hitting the ball?
launch angle is the angle in which he ball comes off of the racket. A higher launch angle means that your ball is going higher into the air when it comes off of your racket when compared to another racket when you swing exactly the same.
Im like USTA 3.5 (but not from America) OHB, you think it can work?
Hi Karue. Great review. I think that the way you customize your racquet would interest a lot of people 😅.
I have the vc98 but it feels light :(
Feels much more solid with weight added to 3 and 9
How many grams?
Why 3 + 9 and no 2 + 11?
Thank you for your help
Hey Karue what grip size do you use??
Thank you Karue, do you teach private lessons and if you do how much per hour?
what string and tension you use man ? i use poly tour revamp 50-52, love the control but i d like a touch more power, any recommendation ?
also how many grams you added on the top of the head ?
Should i even demo this stick. Love my customized VC98 2021. The stiffness is way too low for me... Does it really feel like 61? If yes, then why do you say it's powerful?
Can’t make that decision for you, sir! All I can do is give you my feedback on it
Hi! Just ordereed a 98 to playtest (95 atm unavailable). Did you or anyone here have chance to compare them? Cheers.
I usually add lead tape to 3 and 9 o’clock. Do you recommend adding it the spots like you did?
I recommend you trying out different things. What works for me may not work for you. If 9 & 3 feels good, no need to change
Customising video would be great that includes all specs (sw, weight, balance)
Would love a comparison with the new Radical MP beefed up to your specs, seems to be very popular and the talk of the town right now! Getting one
Radical mp should be a lot more easy to use than this vcore
@@tbluefuck also the swingweight seems to be under specced
@@peterlappland Unfortunately, head quality control isn’t the best.
@@tbluefuck for sure, Luck involved there=)
How would yo compare this racket with the Extreme Tour?
So Karue great review I've been researching this racket for the past few months and I have finally decided to purchase one so tell me exactly how to give you credit for the referral at Tennis Warehouse? Incidentally in the last couple days I was momentarily sidetracked by observing the specs and performance of Iga's 298 tecnifibre and admiring what a fascinating athletic game she plays with it!! Have you tried it?
Klahn and Escobedo signed up for the UTR torunament next week. Now you became the underdog. Curious to watch! Hope it's on Prime Video.
it is STACKED! Looking forward to battle hahah
Did you try the ezone tour? I have used Wilson h19 for the last 15 years and still coach and play. I’m thing about a switch to Yonex to wax my junior players. 😉
Hi Karue,
I personally play with the head boom pro, which is a 98 sq inch, but with a similar head shape. I was wondering if you tried that one and if it feels similar in a way or not at all
I’ve actually heard they are kinda similar to the Yonex shapes so might be time to give it a try. Never played with it
Did you try 95? I am also playing with boom pro and am planning to switch. Do you recommend it?
Do you know why Marcos switched from the vcore 95 to percept 97D?
Summary this video
The 2023 VCORE 95 is highly recommended by the reviewer, Kuru, who plans to use it as his daily driver.
The racket's paint job is a temporary one given to pros to practice with before the final design is released.
Yonex has widened the upper hoop of the racket, which creates a larger hitting zone, making it more stable and forgiving than previous generations.
The racket's string pattern is still 16x20, but the squares are wider, resulting in a slightly more powerful and spin-friendly racket.
The new VCORE 95 has a lower beam stiffness of 61, making it slightly softer and easier on the arms compared to previous generations.
Is it the best 95? I am playing with a radical mp microgel. It has broken
How do I get one with the percept 100d paintjob.
been mainly using the Ezone 98 tour; and want to try a VCORE would it be a huge diff from a 98 to 95? I've also recently gone down from 100 to 98 and its been really2 good
nice video btw --> 100k soon!
I went from DR 100 to Vcore pro 97 and barely noticed. Head size wise, lots of difference in the racquets themselves of course. Vcore 95 is next to dry.
What is your grip size?
I’m a v core pro 97 user. I’m interested in the v core pro 98 though. 95 seems intimidating and for super pros. Even tho I’m a decent player
Is it similar to radical microgel mp
I had tensions @ 54 lbs will it damge the frame when hiting the ball?
Would love to see a collab between you and Simon Freund!
Vcore 95 or Vcore 98 Tour or Percept 97D? Which is the best from Yonex?
I have a question: I kind of fell in love with vcore 95 too, but only caveat for me was on serve returns. I feel like to control the ball with vcore 95 you need to spin it some. That works great for everything except returns, so I ended up wristing most returns instead of a somewhat flat redirection like I used to with a pure drive. I could place the ball deep, but not with much penetration. Is it due to head size, or is it just something about my technique, or lack of experience with this racquet? Any thoughts? Thanks.
I find it great to return so not sure if it is the racket. But I think form, skill level and all that plays a bit more into it. Also some weight on the head for extra stability might help
Are you going to customize at all? Personally, I really like all the vcores and my only issue is I wish they were another .5oz (14g) heavier.
Oh I see you answered that lol
@@ebstmnt I hit with babolat pure strike tours but just bought one of these new vcore 95s for fun. Strung it with nat gut in the mains and luxilon 4g in the crosses. Hit with it a little bit but definitely noticed it could use some weight. Added 4g at the top of the hoop too. Going to play again saturday and could not be more excited to see how it feels.
This is such a dumb thing to focus on but I simply cannot vibe with the look of the new hoop shape, haha. I loved the feel of the previous gen vcore 95, but even then the flattened shape of the isometric hoop bothered me. Now it's more exaggerated and I just can't do it.
I've always preferred smaller head sizes because I grew up playing an all-court game and learned with 85 and 90 square inch rackets, settling into 95s later on. But at this point I'd rather play with a 97 or 98 than a vcore that's been sqashed and stretched to play like a bigger frame with a higher twist weight. It looks so weird!
Again, I know this is irrational. But I think I'll stick to nice smooth ovals like Babolat and Wilson.
has anyone who used to use a pro staff back in the day switched to one of these? i tried the new percept and not sure if i love it and thought might give this a try instead
I used to use the PS97 v13 and switched to the VCP97 310g and then to the VC95 2021 and now trying VC95 2023. The VC95 2021 is closest to the PS97 v13 in my opinion but tons better imo 😎
Please bring up a vid about how you costumized your 95!!!
What's the difference between VCORE 95 and 98?
Hi Karue early to this one! I really hope you see this, but I am inspired by your level of play and am playing a tournament soon. Please wish me luck!
After bying 25 rackets and trying more v core 95 is the racket. I wish i Could figure out from reviews. The thing it does is that makes the proper technique easier to be achieved. It goes under the balls easier and shots on the move are more achievable
This! It goes under the balls easier and shots on the move are more achievable. 100% agree
Yes would love to know your personal specs 😊
Hey Karue,
Great review. What strings do you recommend with this?
On a separate note, my daughter is playing with the previous gen vcore 98, and she would like to work on getting a bit more consistency on her return of serve. Many returns are hit hard, but just catching the tape. Is there any recommendation about different strings (maybe?) to change launch angle? She's using the Lux Alu Power at 52 pounds.
Alternatively, is this where she might consider changing frames, but retaining her existing stroke mechanics?
Thanks,
R
Could you give an approximate of what her level is? If its returning serves that are hitting the net with enough power that might mean that she has decent time to react to the ball (hence her ability to produce power) so getting closer to the baseline will help the ball get through the net as she catches it on the rise. If that doesnt work, try to catch the ball further from the baseline as this really gives some extra time for her to just punch the ball upwards with spin which is something that Medvedev does in his game.
Overall I think that a frame change isnt necessary but an exploration on spinnier strings might help. I've tried Solinco HyperG, Solinco Confidential and Babolat RPM Blast with great success. I also put the tension at 52 lbs.
@@tank9758 thank you for the thoughtful reply.
Her level is training with state level representative players in Sydney. She was nationally ranked in the UK before we returned to Australia, and has trained with Novak's old coach when he was 13.
I think she has a great level, but it's always good to find somewhere to improve.
Love that the time stamps all say “Pro staff” haha
Can you also review the 98 and compare it to the previous version ?
Yes please!
I've playtested the previous VCore 98 and wasn't a big fan of the feel and lower launch angle. It also felt too muted for me. I have the new VCore 98 and it's a world of a difference. A lot softer on the arm, more plush, and a higher launch angle so a lot of balls will fly at first. It also has a better feel so it's not too muted. I also added 3 grams of lead at 12 for more plow through and a leather grip too. Aside from that, the new VCore 98 is a great update to the previous one!
