I don't think we will ever get updates to fighting. It's slowly dying out in the NHL and I doubt the whoever is allowing EA to have the rights to the game would want them to make fighting updates a big feature

They have that, it's just currently being saved in a special folder where they keep features from previous games that they've stripped away in order to have "a way out" incase they drop the ball one year and have nothing new to add. Then they reach into the folder and add those Replays after a big hit, like we all love.
I would appreciate small details like warm up presentations(playable?), better fan reactions for the front row, different lighting in different buildings. Be a pro needs a refresher too. I like how the game is seemingly playing better though.
Please make sure we can visually disable the pressure system, I don’t want to have an arcade looking game (on-ice pressure projection as well as the boards projection), especially for offline.

I like the idea of the offensive pressure timer. My only worry is that everyone in EASHL will be a 6’9 truculence enforcer and just hold the puck in the corner for 30 seconds until they have “momentum” despite not actually creating any offence. Is there anything to combat this?
That or a small guy with elite edges that can weasel his way around the zone untouched. Unless they greatly decrease the rate that the bar increases by just holding the puck, this will be one of the biggest problems this year.

I'm glad that there are at least some changes compared to last year I hope the gameplay will work as I imagine and I'm glad that finally the pressure in the attack zone will finally be useful in something.
Gameplay was fine already, it only needed some tuning and fix for a few things such as the hitting bubble and L2. The pressure system is only going to create a much bigger skill gap, the one touch dekes are a jokes, its not Disney on ice, it's an hockey game. I hope broken glasses doesnt stop the game....randomness can be ridiculously one-sided sometimes. And once again they go all out for offence and little to nothing to defense. There's no way this is going to be a better HOCKEY experience than previous years.

I want a reworked Be A Pro. Specifically, maybe starting in the AHL, giving time to build your stats. I play a lot of goalie BaP, and the entire 1st and sometimes 2nd season is just you getting smoked as a 70ish overall against elites in the NHL. Full presentation modes for BaP, too.
add more customization options to create a team like jerseys, goal horns, effects, light effects, etc. and add if its possible accurate goal horns and songs

My main problem with the pressure system is that someone can sit still with the puck in the corner and when i go to take it they just go the other way, and they do it until the full pressure comes up, it's broken.

Please focus on the European side of hockey, I’m tired of seeing teams leaders being rated 50ovr and washed NHLers still being 76OVR. Also idk how can you mess up the handiness of players so much, I’m editing every player’s OVR, Equipment, Appearence in NHL23, there’s at least 30-40 people I’ve changed handiness, most of the being in the Czech Extra Liga. I’m currently done with the NHL, AHL, ECHL, SHL, Liiga, DEL, now working on extra liga.

NBA makes a pretty decent WNBA roster and season mode, I haven’t played any of it since NBA2K20, but it’s playable. FIFA has at least a playable franchise mode for all of the nations included. Imagine how fun it would be to play Franchise mode, if they made it like FIFA. You could work your way up as a GM from the Swedish 2nd league or ICEHL up to the NHL. Adding more depth to the game doesn’t hurt. In my opinion the main gamemode is franchise mode, the rest being extras, but even then, why not crank up the rarity of NHL player Ultimate team cars and build hybrid teams between the European leagues? Be a Pro, start in europe, playing full seasons or even staying in europe your whole career. It’s not even just about Europe, why they haven’t added ECHL to franchise mode, even if non-playable, just like back when we didn’t have AHL teams would make sense. EANHL would only benifit from adding more depth to the non-NHL side of the game.

1. Net gets knocked off way too easy - defensemen can skate into it while you have a scoring chance 2. Can’t use L2 to open up (without puck) and shoot. Guy goes for a shove hit 3. Hip checks are so OP. Guy can blow past you and you can hippy him from behind and it’s effective 4. When attacking the net with puck, if you lose control and you spam shoot, you will do a shove instead of picking the puck back up and shooting it… 5. My grandma can do 3 michigans a game
The biggest issue I have with the game is the AI. After playing the beta for a week, it's clear that this still hasn't been worked on. For example, AI skating away from a loose puck, AI skating past a puck carrier coming down the ice (presumably so they can get into their assigned position), AI skating at the puck carrier as they enter the zone vs angling/going in-between their path and the goalie, etc. etc.
lol how about make a move one way and back the other, and the goalie is completely done. or when the goalie is tired, he will lay in stack the pads for literally 5 seconds .
One huge issue I especially see in EASHL with the AI is all the people that use these tiny builds with high 90s skating hustle past the AI that never turn around and start skating full speed with them, they just continue to backskate slowly and get passed like pylon.
I am not mind blown by any of these things (which the developers always seem to think we're gonna be when these new "reveals" come out) but I am intrigued. Glad to see the benching and breaking the glass are back. It's amusing when they bring back things that USED to be in the game and call it new.

While I agree that it should not be a one touch play, I think all of these tricks and lame dekes are stoooopid. In an actual NHL game, the Michigan has actually been used to score a goal how many times?? Just lame. Same with breaking the glass. It happens like once a year per arena, so Nasher saying it is once or twice a game is also lame. It will become as repetitive and annoying as hearing Ray Ferraro’s commentary.
The Michigan, something that happen once or twice if lucky in an entire NHL season......Now going to happen several times per games. What a disaster. Any dekes that required a minimum of skills turned into one touch button. I imagine all the kids going all out smashing all the buttons one after another instead of actually playing hockey.
-Are we left/forced to play with that new player icon? The ugly circle around our feets? Are we back in 2001 or what? Loved the minimalist V and pre 20-21 diamond shaped icon. They were already in the game so why instead of taking down the previous icons, you don't simply add new one and let the playerbase choose the one they prefer?? In most games now a day you can fully customise your interface/allied and ennemy health bar, have hundred of different crosshairs in shooters but we can't have more than one option in NHL for silly thing such as player icons.... -Bring back protect puck and reverse hit on A/X. Right now it only interfere with other action such as skill stick/shooting. You don't need all 4 buttons for one-touch dekes. 3 is more than enough and leave A/X to what it used to be, it was perfectly fine already, it doesnt needed any change, it only screw up with other action now. -Let big hits be what they used to be (push up). Now you need to go back and fort, it doesnt feel natural. You make a bunch of dekes that should require skill to use on one touch....but make hitting more complicated? wth.. -The pressure system, does it reset after a whistle while in the Dzone? Because it should and also partially drop on icing, there's always a 30sec to 1 min pause after an icing to take back our breath. Give us the option to turn off the right in the middle of the zone pressure system. It look bad and unrealistic and is an anoying distraction. Why not just adding a bar along our energy or scoreboard bar or literally insert it inside the scoreboard?
My dudes. The momentum mechanics have been in the game for 20 years, they are just finally adding visualization of the momentum game so you know where your at momentum wise.

They have thousands of face scans in their FIFA titles, those games have wayyyy more leagues, teams and players. How they can't have face scans for just 32 teams in NHL is embarrassing. All I really wanted was them to do something with the playoff mode. When it comes to goalie chance, authentic crowds chanting for the actual teams. Overtime celebration songs from actual teams and all the goal songs from all 32 teams.
Every single year, they add more and more offensive tool without given any defensive tool to counter-interact any of the offense move. It's back to cross crease one tee all day in NHL 24.
Hahaha, and they give it a disguising title, "Power bar". This is supposed to be their 2nd biggest brand new addition to the game aside from the new physics engine, and all it is it them finding a shady way to admit that Ice tilt is very prominent in controlling the gameplay. EA has a patent for what ice tilt is im pretty sure, dating all the way back to NHL 09, and it's called Dynamic Ai difficulty Adjustment (or something close to that), and it describes how EA uses the AI as its ultimate weapon to balance the gameplay if there's a skill defecit, and they do it while the play is happening. So basically, this new game is just the new physics engine, thats the only actual addition, and it's what we're spending our $99 on.
No matter what in sports video games….people find exploits. Full pressure is going to be the opposite of realistic and will be exploited to the point of frustration. Mark my word
I can deal with a lot of these changes. But I need to be able to map the icon passing. For example, I would have my forwards assigned to Square, Triangle, and Circle. Sometimes in the offensive zone Circle would get assigned to my defense instead of the wide open RW and my pass would go to an empty point.
Fans need to be done over, and scrums, fights need to feel more organic. Having opposing players in offline modes come up and initiate a scrum mid-play or have CPUs asking for a fight before a faceoff would feel a lot better. Small things and not a huge goal obviously, but would add to the feel of the game in my opinion.
7:28 - they say your player will take longer to get back up to their feet if they get hit with low energy. Guy gets crushed, has zero energy but you can clearly see him immediately bouncing back up before they cut away.
My favorite part was the goalie correctly predicting five-hole with the instinct system and still getting beat five-hole, very strange clip to include lol
One touch passing doesn't work in EASHL Nobody is going to use any of the one touch dekes in total control except for the michigan Glass breaking is a novelty that wears off after 5 minutes, too frequent, causes play to stop which can change the outcome of games Pressure system's main impact is it prevents defending team from generating on the counter attack, it hardly helps attacking team score.
I am so glad I took a break from these games for the past 3 years I got so tired of buying a roster update. And today is the first time I’ve seen this game trailer so I only have to wait 1 month to play this game other than when I used to have to wait an entire year just to be disappointed.

Exactly. And big hits that mostly defense use now you have to go back and fort on your stick instead of only up which I'm scared will make hitting harder to aim and awkward to use. It was great already but it's EA, they had to change it....for no reasons.
I still feel the pressure meter system needs to be re-worked some after playing the Tech Test. Passing the puck and just holding the puck should not fill the meter as quick as it did. Shots on net and regaining procession should fill the bar faster. Also, If the team that has full pressure activate goes out of the zone and on re-entering the zone they go offside it should reset progress of full pressure and the meter. I think that should be the change going forward. IMO. Also, if I am full pressure and have a full energy bar at the start. I shouldn't be able to get walked around until it close to a quarter of a way left or completely drained. The Dumps need to be change back to how it always has been. The little flips are going to break the traps in 6v6 play. Minus those little changes I think it will nice to have some change to the game.
You should be able to backskates all the way if you want smh...You may not see it in the NHL all the time blah blah blah blah, but its still possible to skate backwards people💀💀
I remember Bench hits and glass breaking were a brand new feature in NHL12? Please keep these in for future releases and don’t sell them as a “cool new feature.” Looks like a step in the right direction from last year. They make slight adjustments to the physics code once per year for the new game and then market every game with "physics based hitting" like it's a new thing 🤣
You probably could if the developers find the old files for where that feature is stored, and if they simply put it in the game using their current glass breaking animation. It'd be pretty easy for them to do, You could literally have that with a couple clicks on the keyboard, but the developers are probably saving that to be a "cool new feature" in a later game. They working with such little improvements on a yearly basis, that they literally need to strip away sound/integral parts of their games so they can use them again to bulk up their additions in a later game.
They should add home and away on rivals so ur logo goes on ice with them light affects and jersey and logo creations including stadium creation on hockey ultimate team
So basically a bunch of features that make the game more infuriating, and 1 or 2 features that should've been in the game the whole time but they removed, are back. Aside from that, nothing that people actually asked for

I played the tech test and if there’s anyone who’s fallen off the series and are curious about this one, now is your time to jump back in, the game feels much more like the golden era of PS3/360 and I had an absolute blast playing. Honestly the most fun I’ve had playing a hockey VIDEO GAME since 14.

Love to see gameplay changes, Unfortunately if they don’t bring back full presentation I won’t be buying until they bring back a feature that literally every other sports title has.
My main problem with the pressure system is that someone can sit still with the puck in the corner and when i go to take it they just go the other way, and they do it until the full pressure comes up, it's broken.

Please focus on the European side of hockey, I’m tired of seeing teams leaders being rated 50ovr and washed NHLers still being 76OVR. Also idk how can you mess up the handiness of players so much, I’m editing every player’s OVR, Equipment, Appearence in NHL23, there’s at least 30-40 people I’ve changed handiness, most of the being in the Czech Extra Liga. I’m currently done with the NHL, AHL, ECHL, SHL, Liiga, DEL, now working on extra liga.

NBA makes a pretty decent WNBA roster and season mode, I haven’t played any of it since NBA2K20, but it’s playable. FIFA has at least a playable franchise mode for all of the nations included.
Imagine how fun it would be to play Franchise mode, if they made it like FIFA. You could work your way up as a GM from the Swedish 2nd league or ICEHL up to the NHL. Adding more depth to the game doesn’t hurt.
In my opinion the main gamemode is franchise mode, the rest being extras, but even then, why not crank up the rarity of NHL player Ultimate team cars and build hybrid teams between the European leagues? Be a Pro, start in europe, playing full seasons or even staying in europe your whole career.
It’s not even just about Europe, why they haven’t added ECHL to franchise mode, even if non-playable, just like back when we didn’t have AHL teams would make sense.
EANHL would only benifit from adding more depth to the non-NHL side of the game.

I get it but nhl have bigger problem to fix first, like franchise mode, career mode and stuff then they can focus on details like this
1. Net gets knocked off way too easy - defensemen can skate into it while you have a scoring chance
2. Can’t use L2 to open up (without puck) and shoot. Guy goes for a shove hit
3. Hip checks are so OP. Guy can blow past you and you can hippy him from behind and it’s effective
4. When attacking the net with puck, if you lose control and you spam shoot, you will do a shove instead of picking the puck back up and shooting it…
5. My grandma can do 3 michigans a game

The biggest issue I have with the game is the AI. After playing the beta for a week, it's clear that this still hasn't been worked on. For example, AI skating away from a loose puck, AI skating past a puck carrier coming down the ice (presumably so they can get into their assigned position), AI skating at the puck carrier as they enter the zone vs angling/going in-between their path and the goalie, etc. etc.
lol how about make a move one way and back the other, and the goalie is completely done. or when the goalie is tired, he will lay in stack the pads for literally 5 seconds .
One huge issue I especially see in EASHL with the AI is all the people that use these tiny builds with high 90s skating hustle past the AI that never turn around and start skating full speed with them, they just continue to backskate slowly and get passed like pylon.
I am not mind blown by any of these things (which the developers always seem to think we're gonna be when these new "reveals" come out) but I am intrigued. Glad to see the benching and breaking the glass are back. It's amusing when they bring back things that USED to be in the game and call it new.

The Michigan, something that happen once or twice if lucky in an entire NHL season......Now going to happen several times per games. What a disaster. Any dekes that required a minimum of skills turned into one touch button. I imagine all the kids going all out smashing all the buttons one after another instead of actually playing hockey.

-Are we left/forced to play with that new player icon? The ugly circle around our feets? Are we back in 2001 or what? Loved the minimalist V and pre 20-21 diamond shaped icon. They were already in the game so why instead of taking down the previous icons, you don't simply add new one and let the playerbase choose the one they prefer??
In most games now a day you can fully customise your interface/allied and ennemy health bar, have hundred of different crosshairs in shooters but we can't have more than one option in NHL for silly thing such as player icons....
-Bring back protect puck and reverse hit on A/X. Right now it only interfere with other action such as skill stick/shooting. You don't need all 4 buttons for one-touch dekes. 3 is more than enough and leave A/X to what it used to be, it was perfectly fine already, it doesnt needed any change, it only screw up with other action now.
-Let big hits be what they used to be (push up). Now you need to go back and fort, it doesnt feel natural. You make a bunch of dekes that should require skill to use on one touch....but make hitting more complicated? wth..
-The pressure system, does it reset after a whistle while in the Dzone? Because it should and also partially drop on icing, there's always a 30sec to 1 min pause after an icing to take back our breath.
Give us the option to turn off the right in the middle of the zone pressure system. It look bad and unrealistic and is an anoying distraction. Why not just adding a bar along our energy or scoreboard bar or literally insert it inside the scoreboard?

All I really wanted was them to do something with the playoff mode. When it comes to goalie chance, authentic crowds chanting for the actual teams. Overtime celebration songs from actual teams and all the goal songs from all 32 teams.
Every single year, they add more and more offensive tool without given any defensive tool to counter-interact any of the offense move. It's back to cross crease one tee all day in NHL 24.
It's 10 times easier to bump players off the puck now. No more holding back hand force field and L2 back skating cheese.

Hahaha, and they give it a disguising title, "Power bar". This is supposed to be their 2nd biggest brand new addition to the game aside from the new physics engine, and all it is it them finding a shady way to admit that Ice tilt is very prominent in controlling the gameplay. EA has a patent for what ice tilt is im pretty sure, dating all the way back to NHL 09, and it's called Dynamic Ai difficulty Adjustment (or something close to that), and it describes how EA uses the AI as its ultimate weapon to balance the gameplay if there's a skill defecit, and they do it while the play is happening. So basically, this new game is just the new physics engine, thats the only actual addition, and it's what we're spending our $99 on.

I can deal with a lot of these changes. But I need to be able to map the icon passing. For example, I would have my forwards assigned to Square, Triangle, and Circle. Sometimes in the offensive zone Circle would get assigned to my defense instead of the wide open RW and my pass would go to an empty point.

Facts but we need to fix the bigger issue first
Fans need to be done over, and scrums, fights need to feel more organic. Having opposing players in offline modes come up and initiate a scrum mid-play or have CPUs asking for a fight before a faceoff would feel a lot better. Small things and not a huge goal obviously, but would add to the feel of the game in my opinion.

Nobody is going to use any of the one touch dekes in total control except for the michigan
Glass breaking is a novelty that wears off after 5 minutes, too frequent, causes play to stop which can change the outcome of games
Pressure system's main impact is it prevents defending team from generating on the counter attack, it hardly helps attacking team score.

I still feel the pressure meter system needs to be re-worked some after playing the Tech Test. Passing the puck and just holding the puck should not fill the meter as quick as it did. Shots on net and regaining procession should fill the bar faster. Also, If the team that has full pressure activate goes out of the zone and on re-entering the zone they go offside it should reset progress of full pressure and the meter. I think that should be the change going forward. IMO. Also, if I am full pressure and have a full energy bar at the start. I shouldn't be able to get walked around until it close to a quarter of a way left or completely drained. The Dumps need to be change back to how it always has been. The little flips are going to break the traps in 6v6 play. Minus those little changes I think it will nice to have some change to the game.

You probably could if the developers find the old files for where that feature is stored, and if they simply put it in the game using their current glass breaking animation. It'd be pretty easy for them to do, You could literally have that with a couple clicks on the keyboard, but the developers are probably saving that to be a "cool new feature" in a later game. They working with such little improvements on a yearly basis, that they literally need to strip away sound/integral parts of their games so they can use them again to bulk up their additions in a later game.

I played the tech test and if there’s anyone who’s fallen off the series and are curious about this one, now is your time to jump back in, the game feels much more like the golden era of PS3/360 and I had an absolute blast playing. Honestly the most fun I’ve had playing a hockey VIDEO GAME since 14.
