- @EkiOriginal and Kenu visited EA SPORTS in Vancouver and they had a chance to play a few games of NHL 24. This is the recording of the very first game. More to come. Please see Eki's channel for a cut-down video with commentary.

The transition between scoring the goal, the awkward goal celebration with the player scoring and the rest of the team lifeless following him, then the cutscene with the rest of the team celebrating HAS to get fixed. It's an eyesore right now
I agree it doesn't feel organic and the jump happens too fast. One of our feedbacks as well.

I like the crowd noise. They're really into it! It's the little things like that, that make me wanna play sports games. I thrive on that real life atmosphere!

For the first time, I feel like im watching an actual hockey game while watching an nhl videogame. The arena feels alive and some of the new effects are so cool. This looks like one of the better nhl games in a while

Could you define in more detail what you mean by full presentation?
that you see the goalie statistics at the beginning and that you show even more save repetitions and, above all, before the game that you also highlight the best player from the respective team
@@Chris-qz8hd I would love to see more of that. I think, sadly, that most people just skip this stuff and EA can see this in their telemetry data, so they might not see that it's worth putting in all the details that you and I would like to see. (Note, I'm speculating, I could be wrong)
That being said, they have added more replays of saves and in general the replay camera angles are much improved and we see 2 angles of every goal now as well (not sure about own goals).

the goal celebrations suck.. and ref still calling penalties from anywhere on the ice instead of center ice like a real game

While I do agree it would be nice to get more authenticity in the presentation, such as the details with the refs, I do think they have some more critical issues to focus on.
I thought they did away with the back skating while in the offensive zone? Clearly can still be done
The 2nd NYR goal is one of the biggest problems with the game. 2 defenders there and they’re dopes

I haven't heard that or seen that. Agree those would be nice details. The crowd audio and commentary has definitely seen some upgrades recently.

I noticed that the puck reacts differently ? and the noise also of the puck and different
It does feel like a mix between the old and familiar, and something fresh. I would say the puck feels looser, in a good way. The dump needs some improvements, but other than that I like how the puck plays.
Is it just me... Or the menu music at the beginning feels VERY familiar?
It's always like that in the unfinished copy of the game. The "real" songs are only revealed in the retail copy. This theme song has been in the game for many years, but isn't the default music to play in the retail copy.
Or if you change the soundtrack to NHL I have it for NHL 16 and 19 I think

Exactly what I was thinking, all the video EA allowed to be posted are essentially positive one with barely any negative thoughts....none that matter at least.

I understand that my comments on the videos may come across as cheerleading, as I don't simply trash the developers, but actually try to provide context and insight to why things may be harder to do that it seems.

@@SportsGamerGG It was actually a good and honest text (novel lol). Glad you're bringing up some concern about the one-touch dekes, particularly with the michigan which the game seems to catter a bit too much to new or literally unskilled players. I would be fine with dekes such as toe-drag or the one handed tuck on one-touch but the others should still require a minimum of skills to execute. The game is babysitting us now. A great expression someone else posted on the forum, ''when everyone is super no one is''.
The michigan happen how many times in a full hockey year? Once or twice? I can't beleive they thought it was a good idea to make it a one-touch deke...now it's going to happen several times a game...eww
The pressure system need to be tuned so poeples doesnt rely on this specifically to win/scores. And it make passes between defensemen (defensive team) or backward pass to Dmen almost irrelevant now because the only thing that will matter is to get the puck out of the zone asap to gain stamina again. You did mentioned that concern too in your text. 👍
Good idea on paper but not necessaraly well executed in-game.
Some buttons new mapping are pretty bad such as switching protect puck and reverse hit, they were perfectly suited on A/X. They need to introduce free buttons mapping asap. With so many changes and new buttons they need to let us map our controller that fit best for each individual. Right now I would make a blend between skill stick and total control. It need to happen and it's been asked for years.
Reverse hit should'nt be that easy to pull, it's actually pretty rare in the NHL...
I'd like to add about the ''Tethered Control System'', after a lot of backlash, they added an option to play with or without the auto centering system.
It was another idea great on paper but terribly executed.
The new charge up big hit (going back and fort) is also pretty dumb. why nerfing one of the rare Dmen tool while making about everything easy mode for offense. Oh and while they complicated the use of big hits, they made hip check on one-touch? Hip checks should be much harder to use, not the other way around.
Icon Passing, another great idea on paper but is killing any need to aim manually and it instead make it another skillless tool. Plus, to me, the simple idea that I cannot use the skill stick while aiming a pass feel so awkward.
Not everyone should be equally good when it come to passing or deking. The only skill gap left is the hockey IQ. Everything can now be done by everyone almost at the same level. Kinda sad.
A few other little things need options to be added such as a toggle on/off for the pressure system stamped on the ice, not everyone want to see that kind of stuff in the middle of the ice, unnecessary distraction, leave it to the board only or add a small bar like the player energy bar at the bottom left.
It's clear now that I'm not really happy with lots of the changes lol I've never complained like that before about a beloved series like NHL, I thought we were in the right direction but I'm not sure if it is anymore.

Depends on what mode you play and how much in my opinion. Of course the same product acts as the basis, but from my perspective they have actually done more to the game than in many previous years.
Is there an option to change the commentators?? Just looks like the same repackaged stuff, cellys were pretty embarrassing also
So wait... they got rid of user celebrations and replaced it with the same animation every time for both teams? Makes sense. EA gonna EA. It’ll be added back next year as a “new feature”.

That 4 button assist system is joke? I hope i can play normal skliil stick and this sytem is only for kids who doesnt play hockey. :D
You don't have to use the icon passing. I actually only used the "old" controls because I'm so used to them. The icons will show, though.

Fair question, but like @dakjamse3407 and @raimo41 said, this build is from early August, so it's not a representation of the final product.
I also noticed the dump being powerless immediately and it was one of the things I brought up as we were playing. A lot of these games were played with a producer or developer behind our backs, so there were often discussions going on as we were playing.
They do not. Ever. All they care about is HUT. It shows.

mmm 2024, high resolution motion capture, ai, complex models that run on modern computers.. and still the players look silly and erratic.
Skating still look like crap especially when turning and start/stop. How hard can it be? Remember skating was great in nhl 15 demo but after the update it was shit again..
The way the Panthers guy plays is super lame. Constant L2, just hold the puck behind the net until the pressure meter fills. Hopefully the devs can find a way to do away with that nonsense

the boards suck! makes the game less like a simulation game and more of an arcade feel. So gimmicky.
I thought so too at first, but it turns out I actually like it for the most part. For example seeing the last few seconds of the period on the boards is a nice touch especially with the current scoreboard being at the bottom of the screen. This will be usefull for an esports audience especially.
I will tell you the reason why this game still sucks. When you are on a power play the AI still bull rushes you. You can’t set up a power play. Until this is fix I still will not get this game. Such a disgrace.
