- The first in several reviews of the new P2 offering from xTool. In this episode I try and engrave a tumbler without a Rotary attachment.

Nice.
Just wanted to mention how funny UA-cam is. Anytime you say the word "like" in a video the like button comes to life and plays its animation.
That's hilarious. Must of come on a lot...that's my go to space filler! LOL
Ohhh another neat toy (okay, tool) that I want but will probably never can get. The curve laser etching is amazing. Customized dishes with a laser can be faster than using a CNC to make the dish and then CNC-engrave it.
watching, I just ordered mine today
Very cool. There are a couple things I like about the P2 over my Polar - the large pass through area, the upcoming conveyor, and the clearance height for the pass through. I've got mine on risers because, for real?, you can't put much on the rotary with the way it is. And once the warranty is done, I'm taking an angle grinder to the bottom and enlarging that hole as big as I can. Now to figure out how to do the conveyor belt.
Very cool!! Keep up the great work. 👽
awesome! I'm waiting for my P2 to arrive. I currently have a trotec rayjet but these new features are so exciting and much cheaper than any trotec with camera technology. Why do you think the laser bumped it the first time if it mapped it, shouldn't it have raised the head at the proper timing? Have you been making more tumblers with the curve since then?
Looks like the rotary attachment for the P2 is coming several weeks after the P2 arrives so I will be needing to experiment with curved engraving for glassware and tumblers until the rotary arrives. Any additional tips or tricks since you made this is appreciated! thanks
The RA2 rotary cable for the M1 and P2 are the same. However, if you don't already have the RA2, there is a P2 version that is $18 cheaper because it doesn't have the blocks to raise the M1. If you have the RA2 for the D1, there is a cable for the P2 for $9.
Good to know!
This machine looks really interesting. I learned a lot on my Glowforge but it is SLOW. Not to mention I need a larger bed.
The conveyor system is a TRIP!
Yea imma need one of those.....
I've seen others put the cylindrical thing into a box or similar, so only the top that should be engraved is out. It helps with the scanning process, because it doesn't have that sharp of a drop to the sides.
Yeah...I saw Buster Beagle do that, I think?
Doing 6mm acrylic black using the P2 auto setting if I do 4 pieces the first 2 it did first dont pop out seems to be welded shut? The last 2 pop out np and clean. Suggestion on setings?
Thanks!
Too hot or too slow
Just wondering if there is the possibility to use a honeycomb bed with this laser. Much of my work is leatherette related. Thanks!
Coming soon!
Can you save the curve measure of the curve surface?
I don't think so!
Do you reckon a laser engraver can engrave through blank sublimation to reveal the metal underneath?
Yes
@@BuildDadBuild thanks so much
I was just curious if you can give me some info. I'm trying to figure out what the difference between the
Xtool D1 10W vs
the Xtool D1 pro 10w.
Is there an actual difference or am I just lost...
Thanks I appreciate you.
The pro is a more reinforced frame with higher speed capabilities.
@Build Dad Build does the pro have any more features on the xtool program side of things? I can't seem to home my D1 laser with a click of a button or I just haven't had enough run time experimenting yet could be the issue thanks.
Cheers.
XCS has more features than Laserbox Basic if that’s what you’re asking.
Nick!!! Should I buy the new F1?
It looks pretty cool. XTool did not deem me worthy of sending me one to try out.
Glowforge sucks lol I have one, so I know. But I also got the p2 coming as well. The worst part about glowforge is their solution if something fails, and that's buy a refurbished one that will break down since they don't sell replacement parts to the public. And their customer service is non existent and they expect you to join a fb group and bouncy solutions off of each other. Imma still run my gf cuz well, I paid 7k for the heap. But imma run the p2 too as well. And super excited about the curve surfaces cuz I make bowls, plates, spoons, etc. So it will be nice to add to what I already make. Hope my comment is of value to someone haha
Nail polish throwing me off with every wave of his hand
Have you any experience with the RotoBoss rotary system? You should check them out.
