Thanks so much for sharing this step by step! I recently bought the piburn grip and have been wondering what to do for the Stanley type cups-can’t wait to try it now!
Where can we find the tool file you had for the background that showed where the logo was? I just got my Mira 9 thanks to Melanie over at Brand and Burn and I’m looking forward to making these for my wife and her friends
*Great video Emily!* Quick tip: Be careful with a ZnSe (zinc selenide) CO2 laser lens, and never touch them with your bare fingers; they are toxic and easily damaged. I personally always use cotton gloves.
Can I ask - when you originally ran the job and were off by a bit (when you mentioned in the video how it ran from lining up to the top line, but went off course as you followed it around), how would you have fixed that problem? I know you showed it running the full length around the tumbler as "on the line", but If I"m off and need to fix, what's the step to get it to line up? Thank you soooo much!
Thank you for the video! I have been using the Grip and have seen contradictory information about how much to tighten the cup on the Grip fingers. It makes more sense to me that it be tight. Thank you for confirming!
Although when doing Stanley tumblers the handle tabs can be bent flat when the mug is being engraved which keeps it flat and away from your laser head.
Hi Emily, I’ve slowly figuring out full wraps and have been successful. I do have some questions I’ve been struggling with 1. How do you measure and figure out where you allow for be Stanley logo? 2. My designs seem distorted/stretched on the smaller bottom of cup, how can I fix this? Thanks, Karen
Correct. You focus the cup on both the top and the bottom. Because of the larger lens, there is a longer range of focus so even though the center is slightly out of focus, it's still within the effective focal range and will engrave nicely. :)
Thank you for this video. I have the Mira 7 and I love it. Been wanting to try the tumbler engraving but what were your final speed/power and lpi so I can test mine out and then adjust it from there since I’ve learned every engraving is different. Thank you for all your help and courses. Huge help for me 😊
I didn't think LA Awsome smells bad. Really just has a nice cleaner smell to me. I've been very happy with it. I have to check price of the Dawn Powerwash to LA Awesome. When I used the Powerwash for regular household stuff, it seemed to go pretty quick and if I recall it wasn't that cheap. It's a good product though, I agree.
Thank you sooo much for this! I have been struggling and you made it so much easier to understand. I see you don't have the feet on your rotary, is it just easier to work with like that?
You are so welcome! Final settings for a 60 watt Mira 7 were 350 speed and 40% power. You can purchase the file here: thatmomwithalaser.etsy.com/listing/1663557670
When you raise the small diameter side, doesn't that raise the middle of the cup up also? Isn't there a chance of it hitting the middle (large diameter in the middle just before it drops to small?)
Can you just take the tape off while it’s on the rotary. Since you took it off do you have to go through the process of setting it up again but withiut the tape?
I have watched this over and over. The darn part that I am stuck on is when you are just selecting the two edges to make sure they meet. I can't figure out how to select those areas??? HELP!
I have done it ungrouped but it will not allow me to grab just the end pieces. Is it the design? Maybe I can't do this on this design? Thanks for your quick response@@ThatMomWithALaser
@@marlenelastoria2930 my pleasure. It's kind of hard to help since I can't see what's happening on your screen. Can you email me a screenshot or even better a short video? hello@thatmomwithalaser.co
It’s ok because the cup has been leveled on the top and the bottom. The beam will be slightly out of focus in the center but that’s ok because that area is still within the effective focal range of the beam.
This is CO2 laser most people do not have the money for this type. the most common these days is a Diode laser. Now they can achieve nearly same results for 1/4 the price.

I have STRUGGLING with doing tumblers on my Polar. This video has been more help than anything I have been able to find! Can’t wait to try again
Wow! Thank you so much for that. This made my day. 🥹🙏🏼❤️

Thanks for this very informative video! Where can i get that triangle ruler thing. That you used to measure the cup and the laser?
Omg I’m just seeing this 😅. That’s a focal gauge. I got it with my PiBurn from www.lensdigital.com :)
Thank you so much for this Emily! Was suffering from analysis paralysis, will give it a whirl!
Awesome! 🥳 It’s my pleasure. ❤️
Thank you for the informative video. I’d love to get that template for those cups with a logo. Can you please tell me where to get it?
This video is AWESOME!! So good! Thank you for making it!
Yay! That makes me so happy. Thank you!
Great video. I don't envy how much effort it takes you to change a lens. I really like my one piece one screw in and outs.

Just thinking about getting a rotary and wondering about different diameter cups. Thanks for sharing!
You're so welcome. I hope it helps!

You’re welcome. Idk what people saying about it being loose. I just know I’m more successful when it’s tightly gripped. 🙂

This was super helpful. Thank you so much.
I’m so happy to hear it. Thank you for taking the time to comment. 🙏🏼❤️
Awesome video!!! Loved it!
23CM is the long line under the 23. The numbers are actually on the 1/2CM.

18:10 so you focus both spots of the cup? I don’t own a piburn but my thought is won’t the cup in the middle be way out of focus due to tilting?
Correct. You focus the cup on both the top and the bottom. Because of the larger lens, there is a longer range of focus so even though the center is slightly out of focus, it's still within the effective focal range and will engrave nicely. :)
That makes sense!
Excellent tutorial!
Can you show how you create the design so that you have the ability to select portions of the design?
so how did you correct the frame in on the second cup to be straight on the cup?
I didn't catch it until after I had run the job but there was a random dot floating slightly above the image.

That makes me so happy to hear! For this I engraved at 350 speed with 40% power on a 60watt Mira with a .07 Line Interval.

I love your shirt! Where can I get one!??

You are so welcome! I don’t use the feet because I have less room with my z axis with them. People love them though!
TY so much for sharing this tutorial! Just curious what your final engrave setting were? Also, I love that design… Where can I purchase it?
You are so welcome! Final settings for a 60 watt Mira 7 were 350 speed and 40% power. You can purchase the file here: thatmomwithalaser.etsy.com/listing/1663557670
What was your speed/power for a baseline to get me started in the right area of testing. We have almost the same AEON as you.
Hi! It will depend on the cup. Have you run a material test? If not, try 350 speed - 600, with a range of power from 30-50
When you raise the small diameter side, doesn't that raise the middle of the cup up also? Isn't there a chance of it hitting the middle (large diameter in the middle just before it drops to small?)
It may feel that way but it actually doesn't hit the center because the longer focal range creates plenty of clearance even for the center.
What was the final setting (speed/power) for the engraving? Is the paint about the same on most tumblers?
The paint varies depending on the tumbler and color. For this I engraved at 350 speed with 40% power on a 60watt Mira.
How long does it take to make a cup like this?
Thanks Emily! Love to know im not the only one out here using girl math!!
It's my pleasure! Haha 🙌
How did you compensate for the taper and lower half? I see your template didn't show that portion.....
You don’t need to change anything in the file. Just level the cup on the top and the bottom. 💪🏼
Quick question. After you took the tape off you mentioned that you put the tumbler back on the rotary. Why take it off?
I took it off so I could remove the tape. Is that what you mean?
Can you just take the tape off while it’s on the rotary. Since you took it off do you have to go through the process of setting it up again but withiut the tape?
Que hermoso trabajo lastima q un láser sale muy muy costoso 😢
I have watched this over and over. The darn part that I am stuck on is when you are just selecting the two edges to make sure they meet. I can't figure out how to select those areas??? HELP!
It might be the way your design is set up. Make sure the image is ungrouped so you can only select what you want :)
I have done it ungrouped but it will not allow me to grab just the end pieces. Is it the design? Maybe I can't do this on this design?

You ran the cup and said that it wasn't even with the top. How would you get it to be even with the top if you had noticed it wasn't?
@@gemhill1 hey there. It was an outlier in the file. Had I caught it in time I would have removed it from the file and reframed it.
also thank you very good video thank you
My pleasure!
So the focal distance isn't consistent obviously but thats okay? You wouldn't be 23 mm all the way down the cup.
It’s ok because the cup has been leveled on the top and the bottom. The beam will be slightly out of focus in the center but that’s ok because that area is still within the effective focal range of the beam.
Amazing! Thanks for the great video@@ThatMomWithALaser

You're reading the tape wrong. the full line is a centimeter. The length should have been 233cm
