  • HI everyone join me as I take down this partially dying red oak out on our property! This tree is loaming over our (Future) trail and I wanted to remove it! This bad boy took double stacking wedges to get it to push over! I hope you enjoy this tree felling video! I love managing the woods! In the next video we will buck this up and get it (hopefully) easily back to the homestead to stack and burn next year in our outdoor wood boiler! Thanks for watching!

    Great fell!
    Check out how to “stack wedges” with the use of a series of plunge cuts. Its a safer way of felling those big dead trees and your wedges wont fly out at you.

      Hey Zack! Thanks brother, I got new K&H wedges which stack way better than these cheap echo ones! Just took down a maple tree with them and didnt bounce once! Thanks for tuning in!

    Wow, Jay! That was a nail-biter! Didn’t realize how big that tree was until you started your notch cut. I’m wary of taking down snags with limbs hanging on. Great job! I loved the slo-mo and reverse views! Thanks for sharing!

    Good take down. I always bury my wedges right until I can't pound anymore before I try to double them up. Can't always do that on smaller trees. But I use two or three and alternate pounding them in all the way until they are sunk. Then if I still need more lift, I double up. And the tree looked like a maple to me.

    • @HomesteadJay
      @HomesteadJay  3 роки тому

      Hey Derek! Yeah I thought for sure the single wedges would work but guess not haha I looked at the footage again and one limb up top was holding it up ahaha I thought it was red oak but could be maple haha whatever either way its a hardwood and it will burn haha Thanks for tuning in!

    I bought a new Echo Timberwolf and sent it to Iowa Performance Saw's for a muffler mod and retune and it's a good saw. I'm looking for information on a better chain to replace the original.
