Kashmiri Chilli powder is all you need to take this to the next level. Just a half teaspoon takes this to a whole new level without adding much heat. Use that instead of Cayenne. You're welcome!

I made this yesterday and it was absolutely delicious. I followed the recipe all the way except that I didn't have Boursin, so I used Alouette cheese. This is a really savory and slightly sweet dish. I made rice to go with it, but it was actually better without the rice! Thank you so much for these great recipes. Jeff, it’s certainly a new approach but I think stating it results in the same flavour profile is a bold, and some may say arrogant, claim.
I would suggest you check out www.pipingpotcurry.com. Her recipe for paneer tikka masala is to die for and the only esoteric ingredient in it is fenugreek leaves. All of the other ingredients are not dissimilar to yours... minus the Boursin and maple syrup, of course. She has a chicken tikka masala recipe also which I’m sure is as good as the paneer one from my read of it.
Finally, my sense from Bahsaq’s comment is that your recipe caused some upset and was perhaps viewed as insulting. Maybe a little more sensitivity going forward when cooking dishes outside of your culture is warranted. #foodforthought
