This is eye opening. My sister is ESFP. She will do/ say hurtful things and behave in selfish ways that negatively affect others, then weeks/ months / years from now, will say it is because we was immature/ young/( insert another excuse). Is this because " her perception of reality is constantly changing"? I feel more sane when I limit my time in her presence. My ENFJ father said something similar about his mistakes in the past. " Everybody is constantly growing. I was younger then" I agree that people are growing but it is no excuse for constant bad behavior. Surely!? That is like me slapping you in the face today and tomorrow I say I was a different person then, that slap doesn't count. Then, next week,I slap you again. And repeat. It is crazy making.

@@PowerRedBullTypology while I agree with you about our cores as human beings remaining the same and the changes being a result of biology, environment etc , that doesn't answer the question about excusing bad behavior. It is genuinely crazy making for me. It is a form of gaslighting. " Well that is your perspective on it/ reality" uhmmmm... No, if you hit me, you hit me. I

People grow and learn, yes, but I don't think that should exempt them of being accountable for hurting others.

Being an asshole has less to do with typology (per sé) & more to do with lack of Empathy, power tripping, & double standards. It's like Patrick Teahan (LICSW) says: "Sometimes the diagnosis is simply: 'asshole.'" Now, I suppose we could have the conversation of patterns, as it pertains to which types tend to exemplify/demonstrate such behaviors. But I'm not so sure we have those data sets (as of yet). I do really have a great deal of Respect for how you seem to be using Typology to understand yourself & others (vs simply do so with intent to exploit them) though. 💪🏼💜

This was so interesting tbh I learned so much. I’ve lost count how much times I’ve rewatched this to build more onto my understanding of the functions. Si-Ne was too relatable because I do that the majority of the time. I understand you can value both but we generally lean one way over the other.
Just like your example in that video where you were saying it’s like taking the train you can take both ways but you have a preference for one over the other.
It’s not possible to go two directions at the same time the rest was just my thoughts and expanding a bit from this.

I would argue that the slider was referring to whether or not you're an ExxJ/IxxP, or an ExxP/IxxJ. A fixed reality would, I think, be referring to a dominant judger that comes to conclusions about certain things and doesn't change those conclusions unless they need to. Someone whose reality is constantly changing would probably have a dominant perceiving function, since they're constantly gathering new information and not necessarily coming to conclusions about them. At least, that's what my interpretation of the question was...
I took the test and didn't move ANY sliders except for that one to see how it affected the results, and if I moved it over to the "fixed reality" side, then the results gave me 50% for all the cognitive functions except for Ti, which was a little higher, and Ni, which was a little lower. And if I moved it over to the "constantly changing" side, then the results gave me 50% for all the cognitive functions except for Ni, which was a little higher, and Ti, which was a little lower.

Thanks for checking, that's interesting! It still pretty much fits what was said though, that this changing perception of reality is related to Ni. Not sure why the other option would be specifically Ti, and I get it's also not exactly an SiNe perception but it's more that SiNe does not usually relate to changing perception. Anyway, that question was more the trigger to the conversation, not a determining thing.
