I’ve been growing my beard for almost 20 years. Almost shaved it to a mustache. Because I’ve made to many mistakes. Especially in the backline.
I didn’t know you till this day and I just want to thank you!
I’ll grow out my badboy again and follow your tips.
Thanks brother! You’re a genius. Much love for you.

Your tips helps massively! However, after having a beard for over 10 years, I finally went to an actual men’s barber specialized in beards. After an hour of a full cut, trim and shave I wondered why I never had done this. Amazing experience.

This. Go to the barber for a regular beard trim and pay attention to how they trim your beard before butchering it yourself.

That is excellent. These tips are in no way meant to replace what an actual barber should be able to do with your beard. But they do help you keep it tidy in between visits.

I want to do this but I don't know any actual barbershops near me. They'll advertise as a barber shop but it's just like the chains (sport clips, etc) that have a revolving door of girls fresh out of beauty school that probably won't be there next time you go in.

How much on average is a beard trim from a barber? I see people pay 75 or 120 and they draw an outline to make a fade and I’m not a fan.. I just want a clean natural look with very little if any fade… also how does it take an hour for a beard trim?

Thank you for this video. My husband decided to stop shaving and he looks like he’s 90 instead of his 75. Today he finally asked me if I’d trim up his beard a little bit and it’s something I’ve never done. I feel a bit more confident in tackling the job. He still wants it long which I don’t understand since we live in Florida but .. I’m going to give it my best shot. Thanks for all the info.

You have a tremendous amount of impact on men across the world, but you probably already know that. Whenever I get questions about my beard I just link your GQ video which has been a tremendous help for at least 1 1/2 years now. Happy to have found your channel and this extended cut now. I'd unironically buy your products if shipping weren't 39.95 USD. Unlucky for european students. It has been interesting to watch your approach to “cutting back the brush pile.” I tried the clipper method once about twenty-five years ago. Oooops! I went back to the scissors and comb. The last day that I shaved my face, was 10 Sep 68. This was for my Army physical, which a serious insect allergy caused me to be passed over. I may grow the courage to get a better trimmer, and try it again. The white hair seems a bit stiffer.
I thank you again for letting me watch you work and explain things in a sensible manner.

I've had a pretty long beard for a while now and want to say I think it's better to get a nice pair of small grooming scissors when trimming the stache. What I do for avoiding the cats asshole stache style (😂) is hold the scissors vertical to your lips as you progress across them. This will help you avoid a, in my opinion, bad look due to it looking too straight. By holding the scissors vertical, you get the length and shape you want while it being easier to avoid going too high above your lip. The tip you have about "less is more" is gold and applies here too - start low to trim, but give yourself room to progress further up. Back away from the mirror for a few seconds after every few cuts and brush down with a horse hair brush. Make sure that when you do your mustache that your beard is ENTIRELY dry. Wet hair is longer than dry hair so that makes a difference when avoiding the cats asshole. Very good video my friend!

I appreciate all the time and effort you put into these dude. I am kinda scared to try anything though, I don't want to fuck my beard up. I've never had one so I'm just leaving it alone even tho I think it could use a professional trim.

If you are concerned about screwing it up find a good barber. Just start with a “trim” before letting them change the shape. See how they do with a clean up first.

If Tom Brady had a perfectly manicured beard, you would have this man. Great tutorial, you've inspired me to grow my beard out. My entire chin is grey, I have a salt and pepper mustache, and jet black beard hair along my jaw line. Bring on the beard coloring video my friend.

@Matty Conrad Excellent video. I'll be trying this in the morning. As others have mentioned I's also like to know how to fade sideburns into a bald head and what to do when the beard is wavy on the sides and tends to naturally curl up underneath. Do I let it grow out more or keep it shorter underneath?
p.s.-@29:47 you say you use matte product to "scalp" your beard. I'm sure you meant "sculpt", so I thought you'd like to know.

You should have used the zero blade that brio provided you. I just picked up the V2 and love this clipper. Used the zero blade to outline and didn't even need to go in with a razor after.
I would like to see a video on how to fade a beard on the side using those clippers and the zero blade.
