Those wedding shots are amazing like the ides of reducing the sharpness .... so much to learn - top notch video as always !
It’s super subtle. Not always needed either. But it can help at times 👌🏻 thanks for watching
I used to prefer S-Cinetone over Slog3 but then I discovered the Phantom Luts and I’ve never gone back to S-Cinetone. The colors on Slog3 w/phantom luts turn out way better and its just a one-click solution. Not to mention you get several lut variations. It looks VERY similar to Arri Alexa colors.
I always found myself tweaking S-Cinetone in post which defeats the purpose of being a straight out of camera profile. Now I only use S-Cinetone for home vids or quick social media posts. Its still a great profile.
Yeah, i used s-cinetone all the time too. Log was always a challenge for me until maybe 6 months ago and now i’ve never looks back. Like you said, s-cinetone is great for quick turnaround 👌🏻
Thanks for watching
@@DannyBligh I also forgot to mention, great vid! Your vids are very informative. Keep up the great work!
@@sstteevveenn77 as long as they help or entertain the they serve their purpose 👌🏻 thanks for the support
@sstteeveenn77
How to get theese luts
I love the s-cinetone so easy to work with!!
100%!! Weddings are bliss with it. Use it every time!! 👌🏻
Tried this on a shoot and it works so well! Happy I came across this! Thanks!
Glad it helped!! That’s what I like to hear. Cheers Jackson!
Where can I find the correction LUT?
I’m a little stumped… I setup my camera to match your exact settings (3rd option) but when I pull the footage it still looks bland and not that colorful right out of the camera like you said. Help!
The Sony factory settings have Picture Profile 8 set up the same way that you set your Picture Profile 7.
He has an A7s3. I have an A1. What do you have?
@@derrickrr5516 I have an A7s3 and an A73. Pic profile 8 on both of those is Slog3 in factory settings.
forgive me but there is pp1 to pp11? which one of these match the best for the cinetone for weddings?
Where can I download S cinelog lut?
Is there a way to play with the hues in camera?
e.g I want to turn the blues slightly teal.
Yeah, go to colour phase in your pp settings, go to blue and make in + instead of 0. I think that’s the right way but if not, make it negative
S CINELOG 3 🔥🔥🔥 thnks again I just subscribed!!!! 👍🏼
My pleasure!!
How do you COLOR SPACE TRANSFORM for S-Cinetone, because as far as i can see. its not listed anywhere ???
Im on Davinci free version (no 4.2.2). Would s-log work? Currently using Handbreak to re-code it so it would work. (Filming without PuictureProfile atm)
(Perhaps time to get full licens).
I’ve never really used Davinci myself but heard that 10-bit footage only works with the paid version. Does that mean that it’s literally not viewable? - no idea! But it works with 8-bit im pretty sure which the Sony can also give you. However, 10-bit obviously edits better
Where can i buy the conversion lut you speak about for your SlogCinetone profile?
I use a standard slog3 conversion, as I was go retain the colours that s-cinetone gives me. I may have done things differently when I made this but yeah, that’s how i do it now
Any suggestions for a good B&W profile setting?
Not really, anytime i’ve shot for b&w i’ve always filmed it in a log profile, corrected it for rec709 and them graded it to be black and white. On the few times i’ve done this, i’ve used a s-log3 gamma with sgamut3.cine colour. Colour isn’t a major thing but you still need the b&w grade to reflect a good balance and separation between colours. Sorry I can’t help any more!
@@DannyBligh thanks for the reply. Much appreciated 🙏🏼
What is the name of that correction LUT that matttih discovered and bought, and that you bought too?
I just got it from his website when I got it mate ☺️ it’s part of his Sony lut pack but I just wanted to understand how his correction lut worked so had to buy the whole thing 😂
Was that wedding venue near Athens, Georgia, USA?
No, from the UK. Not had the opportunity to visit the states yet
Well sir it was a great video. Much appreciated!
Does A7SIII have Venice colours like the FX3?
Long story short, yes. However, to be a little more accurate. Both the Sony A7Siii and FX3 have S-Cinetone as a colour profile when in video mode. S-Cinetone is a colour profile that was firstly made available on the Venice. It may not be 100% the same but it's based on it
Danny what is the 1080p like on the A74, is it worth shooting HD 10 bit.
Not yet got my hands on the a7iv, but if it’s anything like my a7siii, it’s great! I don’t use it often but it’s a really nice quality in comparison to the a7iii. And having 10bit colour is very versatile. Sorry I can’t give you an exact answer!
I can’t find the REC709 converter lut
What PP number is s-cinetone on the Sony a7siii?
If you haven’t changed any of the settings, as standard it’s pp11 but you can set any of the pp’s to any settings you want
@@DannyBligh ok thanks so much! I didn’t know that
S-Cinetone clipping point is 109, S-Log 3 is 94
is this info for the Zebra-Settings?
@@rokkstar8129 yep
thank you very much .. Shall I set the Zebra level 100+ in S-cinelog3 pp ? What do you recommend?
And the Exposure Comp. Shall I leave it as a +0.0
Anytime you use a gamma that is S-log3 zebras should be around 91+ for highlight blowout.
As for exposure comp, there’s no right or wrong. I was filming yesterday and some scenes were above +2, others +0.3
my friend, you mentioned that you use S-Cinetone for all of your wedding work, but then at the end you said that using SLOG3 with Scinetone colors is what you use for 90-95% of all your work. So which one do you use for weddings? Have you moved on to Slog3? Or still Scinetone? thanks
So for weddings we were using just straight-up S-Cinetone all of the time. But weddings were only a small portion of my work when this was filmed last year. All of my UA-cam content and client work which is the 90-95% is filmed with s-log 3 gamma, scintone colour.
Since filming this we have now made the move to film in just s-log3 with s-cinetone for everything including the weddings. Hope that helps?
Yes thank you sir
@@DannyBlighI just switched on my a7Siii from straight S-Cinetone to S-Log 3 because of some clients who do their own edits and require it! I found it tough to expose and grade. HOWEVER I recently discovered (whois MattJohnson youtuber) who turned me on to S-Log 3 PP8 but using the S-Cinetone Gamma!! WOW what a great look as you suggest and very easy to apply a Sony Lut or Alexa LUT. THANKS FOR THE GREAT VIDEO and confirming my decision. For me it’s the best of both world’s and a nice compromise with easy work flow and the client still is happy cause it is basically still S-Log 3!!
@@Pfagnan I assume you meant to say “but using the S-Cinetone COLOR.” ???
I'm going from the a73 to fx3. I use cine4 pp on the a73 as it allows for some editing. What do you recommend for me on the fx3? Will s cinitone replace it? I don't want to use log btw
I’d say either stick with cine4 and get comfortable with the camera first or you can go and use s-cinetone straight away
@@DannyBligh cool thanks
Thank youuuu very much for the video. Which Zebra you recommend 95,100 or 100+ ? 😉
Depends what gamma you’re working in. For cinetone gamma, 100+, slog3 91+
@@DannyBligh S CINETONE & S CINELOG3 😉 thnks a lot for the quick response
One question, which profile you use in low light situation? For example dance floor? SCinetone have enough dynamic range?
S-cinetone should be fine for most situations. But I personally use slog3 for literally everything now. I forget that I don’t have to use log sometimes 🤷🏻♂️😂
Is there a Neutral picture profile
There is a ‘pp off’ but not really (not that i’m aware of anyway) of a neutral one
Does this apply to the A7 III ?
Unfortunately not mate!! When I owned my A7iii I used s-log 2 or cine 4 depending in the situation.
S-log 2, s gamut3.cine colour
Let me know what profiles you prefer from Sony!
Sweet video! Do you use Zebras when you're trying to expose s cinelog, and if so what do you set them as?
Yeah, or at least I did. I think I set them to 100+. I think you can do 106+ (may be wrong) but yeah, 100+ is fine. Works well for hybrid shooting
Quick question! When using S-Log with Cinetone color, is it still recommended to overexpose a bit and mind the ISOs (base 800 on A7IV)?
Yeah, regardless of any colour mode as long as you are using a gamma of slog2 or slog3, always treat it the exact same as any other log footage
What's the native ISO when NOT using picture profile?
80 and 1600 i think
Danny, wich PP is now PP8 on new fx3 2.0 firmware?
I wasn't aware it had changed Jakov. But regardless, you can change any of the profiles to be what you wish. My pp8 is SLog 3 but I know that PP7 is normally SLog 3. Sorry that I can't help you more
@@DannyBligh Thanks! but they delete PP 5 to PP10
