When I see icy mike selling tactical flashlights: bruh, I dont get this weird obsession
When I see icy mike selling tactical backpacks: does the promo code work if I get 2?
When I was in highschool I played tournament paintball and learned how to use cover the same way, we called it snap shooting. Probably the only transferrable skill. Also check out Vertex bags same they make similar low profile gear.
Mike, have you timed unzipping zipping and donning the backpack compared to getting the plate carrier out of a backpack and donning that?
Just out of interest
Dang. That is a good price if they include the plates. I wish I knew about these guys before. I already have a couple of Vertx bags (Gamut 2.0 and Commuter sling) which were costly. But this is a great deal.
you should put a small abseiling kit in for getting the fuck out of low level buildings ,they would need to know basic skills and anchor points but it could be as simple as put on climbing harness(5 secs ) clip rope and drop (15 secs) ...bespoke for the workplace but if that shit was common where i worked, id learn to use it,you can get decent snag proof rope as well to take away line failure as a risk! great looking product thanks for sharing

Watching a guy wearing his backpack in front as a ballistic west, moving through his house with a gun and talking about what to do in an active shooter scenario. That's the content I signed up for ;D
same here!!! :-)
“can i get a backpack for uhh school?”
“sure what is it so we can order.”
“well ya see…”
Pretty ingenious concept actually. Much more discreet than walking around in conventional body armor/vests. A question out of left field, what color paint is that in your office? I'm repainting some of the rooms at my house and I'm stuck picking out a color. I like the looks of the paint on your walls.
Everyone should like this comment to the top so he sees it.

An imperfect defense that is convenient to carry is better than a perfect defense that you will never bother carrying because it's inconvenient. I think this is something a lot of people miss when they talk / think about fighting in general.
This is an excellent argument that has convinced me to buy a backpack for my wife (high school teacher)
"People tend to stop what they're going when you're shooting at them."

If you shoot well enough, they stop doing everything they'll ever do again. 👍🏽

“People tend to stop what they are doing when you start shooting at them” another solid ass quote 😂
Great vid! As a retired police officer, I still teach other to use their backpack (usually filled with large, thick school books) as a make-shift body armor. Those books should slow down or stop some rounds from hitting the person wearing it. If running away from the threat leave it on your back and if running toward the pew-pew; wear it on the front of your body. If you have to run, run; if you have to hide; barricade yourself; if you have to fight; fight like lions and kill the SOB that is trying to kill you. Don't die like sheep. God bless our sheepdogs!
I remember back when Colion Noir covered backpack ballistic plates and, in the lifestyles where you always have a backpack or gym bag with you anyway and can afford it, why not? It's passive defense that's not drawing any extra attention and can go with you anywhere you can take a bag.
Wow I was not expecting it turn into a vest like that. That's genius!
Thanks for all the tips I’m learning a lot, and i have a great laugh every time i watch one of your videos. Im so happy i found your channel.
never thought about it but if youre running away from a shooter it covers your back
Yep.
@@hard2hurt goes well with a tactical ballistic cap. you spin it backwards and it covers your neck
@@paweandonisgawralidisdobrz2522 Not sure if you were just joking, but serious but i was just thinking, this backpack and the video is excellent, but what about the head and neck, right?
@@bmaxse Smaller targets. There's a reason why police officers are trained to aim for the center of mass, or torso. Even if an untrained dickhead is aiming high, it's unlikely he'll actually land a headshot. Not impossible, but you shouldn't worry about anymore than your torso.

really loving that attitude.
I love that thing, looks like a life saver. No gun, no med kit, I'd love to go with that one around.
Love how he collected himself at the end there, " They don't have to *know* I'm that guy"
Now I actually wish I hadn't already spent money on a plate carrier
Because like you said, this would be a way I could take armor with me everywhere I go without anybody being the wiser
Pretty cool, and some great advice. Cornering guns, are still mostly early prototypes as far as I know.
Man I love this channel
I ordered one without the ballistic plates since I already have a plate carrier and plates. Might get a soft plate for the back to take down the wait a little bit. But great review. I can't wait til I get mine! Thanks for bringing this one to my view. Good price on them. Great review thanks

Thanks to your video, I bought a Civilian One. Thanks. I work in a lot of different countries, some of them great, others not so great.
Very informative,
Very Cool backpack.
I Was doing this before it was a thing.
I would add a suggestion to your pack, an identifier option for LEO's to separate your image from the active shooters description and a cheap phone for 911 communication.
Knew I liked you a minute in, but you gained a subscriber when you said the importance of stealth in a gunfight is overrated. The truth people need to hear.
You should check out the Byrna Shield, not as many pouches or pockets but converts into a front vest also!
4:59 - Mike on the money as always - I am currently serving and one thing that they teach you in more advanced development classes is - do not become static. Move. Make a decision and live with it - even if its the "wrong" decision, Just. Do. Something.
My dad was former military. He often used "move, do something even if it's wrong" in everyday life which I now use in my martial arts training.
I'm not from the U.S but from what I hear and see on the news, Ballistic backpacks seem like a good idea for schools.
Jep. Funny thing is that most weapons used for school shootings come from their gun nut parents unlocked cabinets.
Thank You Sir
Actually a really good idea might invest in one ..
this is the perfect bug out bag enough room to carry basic supplies and gives you protection at the same time
Looks like it has a strong zipper which is important. I doubt any average person will ever need a bulletproof backpack though. More important would be an escape plan, repelling backpack if on a high floor (good for fires too) and choosing the better place to sit- maybe near a side exit.
I think that might be illegal in Australia, or at least in the state of Victoria. See, here, near any attempt to protect ones self from gun violence is considered a threat. Looks cool though. I wouldn’t mind one as riding armor. Bet that would save your skin from road rash.

Can 100% confirm shooting back makes cover. 10/10 recommend.
You should do an improvised body armor video. Not like making or building a plate carrier out of random junk but rather like the one you did with weapons where you just grab what is close and available in the moment. Many people cowar and grab somthing they think will help protect them like a cookie sheet or a steel weight plate etc... Things around the house, things in Walmart or other places you go frequently. Which are good options and bad ones. You have whole new set of video ideas now maybe.
You're a bit boned if you're in a situation where the only thing left you can do is come up with a makeshift shield against a gun. You're better off yoloing a makeshift weapon instead
1:24 Yeah!!! ... Super cool ... I love your backpack 💛
- by the way, a regular backpack ever saved my life from a knife attacker; since it is my behavior to carry a backpack at the front of my body. SO, I would say I don't have any backpack, but frontpack. 🙂

@@noahllanos286 😇🧡.. Thanks God and my Frontpack 🙏
Can you use the front part as an arm shield and still move it around with the back strapped? It looks like u could with added arm buckle straps.
Toss a water bag in the back portion and I can see myself using it for when ever I'm traveling or going places. I'd skip the plates tho, cus I don't feel the need for it over here. If I ever visit the states tho, might use it just cus.
Great informative video. Like
I have his backpack and the straps that tighten it down can be used as a tourniquet
Icy, another request, I want to see how you adjust to defending yourself based on different clothing. For example, suits are very restrictive, how would you defend yourself while wearing a suit? You can't high kick, you can't warm up.
I've had 2 of exact 3a ones for past 5 years. If you wear it split its 3a front back if you wear not split it'll stop 5.56

2) Someone needs to develop a ballistic/hatchet proof tactical cooler.
3)The place where I live doesn't have much of a gun culture, but I still watch this side of your content because it often has at least one or two principles or considerations that apply to self-defense generally.

Also if you hide you are losing valuable information on the attacker, location, etc
I actually just realized I cut out a good size portion of explaining what's wrong with hiding... and that is part of it yeah.
I’m interested in knowing what’s in the ziplock your medic friend put together for you.
If it’s purchasable as a prepacked kit, even vetter
U can prep one yourself if you know what you are doing
Byrna has a backpack called shield, it is well made, it stays on your back, you reach back and pull the extra ballistic part up over your head to your chest, it is insanely amazing construction, with three options, plain, handgun armor, rifle armour...it is armoured front and back with a molle on front...Please Review it? Agelite has a nice laptop case that doubles as a carrier
If you wanted to take a class, or get more exhaustive training on active shooter response, is there a way to do that?
Would this make it through airport TSA? Assuming no weapons in it... I don't know if body armor isn't allowed.
Can you teach more cqc stuff like this?
Hi would you recommend kids having a bulletproof backpack for school? If so, which one?
Could you take a back pack like that over sea's? Would it get through customs?
Sir, can this bag hold / carry a ar15 pistol with say a folding arm brace?

Yeah I gonna buy an armor panel for my little brother's backpack.
Considering a shooting just happened recently in just the state above me I will not just let my brother go to school with nothing.
You should have shot on of the armor pads so we can see the protection.
"People tend to stop what they are doing when they are shot at" life lessons right there 🤣🤣
I was on the fence until he pulled out the Kel-Tec Sub 2000.
Lmao, that face when you naturally use a CAR stance for CQB (9:31) but then go to isosceles for regular shooting 10 seconds later. I get it mike, LEO's and vets (like myself, I swear everything the Navy does is outdated, I was carrying an M9 on watch in freaking 2015) are still being taught to use weaver or isosceles shooting stances, but its outdated. It took some effort, but I've switched to CAR (used to use weaver) and found it to be way better; just give it a try man. I know its a pain in the ass to un-learn the stance you are used to but its SO worth it, especially when you have martial arts experience.
I don't know that it's as simple as saying that one or the other is "outdated" or obsolete per se. CAR definitely has a legitimate niche for someone who has put the time training in it, though. There are different schools of thought from what I've seen with a lot of people falling on various sides of it, some feeling either method is situational or personal preference. I toyed around with CAR once and found it wasn't all that alien, I plan to do some more with it in the future when I get back to the range but at the moment isosceles is my preferred stance.
@@SaftonYT CAR is definitely a more modern shooting stance, that is better suited to a lot of situations than ISO or weaver. It is arguably better for retention, and has several position stages (there's the intial draw, the CQB stance, etc) and is better suited for cornering, etc. It excels in areas that ISO and weaver do not, and doesn't have any drawbacks, at least none i have noticed thus far, OTHER than being more difficult to learn and teach than ISO and weaver.
And its fair to argue that weaver isn't necessarily outdated, but ISO is VERY outdated.
@@formoney5255 I agree that standard Iso is outdated for any serious work. In my head I was envisioning Modified/Modern Iso stance which is far more practical in my estimation. Sorry for not making that clear.
As for CAR any any perceived issues, two articles do a better job of explaining than I ever could. UA-cam doesn't seem to like me linking them, but they're on Pew Pew Tactical ("Center Axis Relock: Is John Wick Right Or Wrong?") and Guns America Digest ("Can Center Axis Relock Make You Faster, Safer, and More Accurate?").
A solid and valuable tool to have in one's toolbox, but not a direct replacement or roundly superior one I would argue. Just one man's opinion.
Icy I'm curious what do you call your self defense style? Is it krav maga? Or something else?
Plus staying off the wall means that when they punch through the wall in an attempt to pull you through to their side they won't be able to.
good point
Is the 'Fight' option still viable if you're not carrying a firearm?
What Armoured Personnel Carrier for the mall? Heavy and slow or fast and light?
Can you use those ballistic plates on a car door or panels?
Where as I agree with you on most things it hands too low, there are too many loss straps that can get you hung up, and takes too long to don. I'd rather the Switchblade, Masada, or even the C.A.R.R.
Just moved to somewhere I can afford. Turns out what my fiance and I can afford is a small apartment in the hood, and I drive a motorcycle for my day to day. So im currently saving up for a backpack like this. Not saying id risk my life for the bike, but stray bullets are a thing and have already heard multiple shooting that were definitely a bit close for comfort. Last thing I want would to take a stray bullet on my commute to work.
10:51 this is why we like Mike
Any chance you will discuss the McLaughlin Provost fight?
I always watch your videos and then try to work out how it would apply to us in the UK where knives and other medieval weaponry is more commonly used. I wish I could carry a gun and be that tactical guy (I carry a knife, but with the regulations on what is legal to carry, it isn't exactly ideal) if you're more likely to get stabbed than shot would something like this even still be viable?
stab vests panels bro
If you are committed to the idea of a stab proof backpack you could just slide a large book or laptop into a regular backpack. Honestly any backpack with enough stuff in it in likely sufficiently stab resistant.
Unfortunately places with restrictive weapon laws generally also have laws against owning body armour as well.
Honestly though the times when having armour that is not already in place and requires time to set up would increase your survivability in a knife attack are pretty slim to none, but a slash resistant bag has the added benefit of keeping your stuff safer in a slash and grab attack.
Having said that, if I had to try and tackle a guy with a knife (very unlikely) anything to cover your soft bits would be an asset.
Won't be long till he gets a suitcase that folds out into the iron-man suit. Heck I wouldn't be surprised if he had a suitcase that became a make shift riot shield or something 😂

I do agree with everything you're saying, but what happens when the cops think that YOU are the active shooter when in fact you are the defender???🤔
They have a vague claim on their website about being NIJ certified, yet when you look for their company in the NIJ's list of certified plates, their name isn't even on the list. I emailed their customer support to inquire about this, but I think my chances of getting a response are about as likely as their backpack's chances of stopping a bullet.
So this is not a legit armor company?
