    Thanks again Eric! Side note: You suggested the movie "Survival Family" a few times in various videos you made. I had time to watch it this Memorial Day weekend, and wow!! You nailed it, probably one of the more realistic movies in the Post Apocolyptic genre. I really enjoyed it and actually it inspired me to work on some stuff at home. Mainly a portable tool kit for emergencies that I made. Thanks, keep up the great work I know your videos help me and I appreciate them always.

    I'm a master of disguise, if a mass shooting happens I will make myself look like a large plant or a small coffee table. I'm always one step ahead.

      Great, until someone hides behind you and the shooter fires at them. I'd suggest disguising yourself as a kitten... who would shoot a kitten? 😁

      Yes, that will make shooting people a lot easier for everyone, and harder for the authorities to stop shooters slaughtering kids in schools. Just what America needs. Why not give every person an armoured personnel carrier loaded with high velocity weapons? Or maybe give head to toe body armour for everyone going to school or a shopping mall? 🙄

      If you had actually experienced life in a real fascist society, I doubt you'd make such comments. In fact, you'd probably have been locked up for even daring to criticise orcquestion the regime. And unfettered access to UA-cam probably wouldn't be one of life's little pleasures either. But don't let reality ruin your delusions.

      not a perfect answer to your question, but this channel did a video on how many books it would take to stop different rounds. there are way too many variables to give an exact answer. for example, hard cover, soft cover, multiple strikes, hollow point, full metal jacket, etc. ua-cam.com/video/wHkLU7_4sTs/v-deo.htmlsi=_u7md3zsUm7lT2dY

      Writing this just a day after yet another mass shooting, this time a mall in Texas... several dead children and a few adults too. I think ANY sane person should feel sad and ashamed that their society is so obsessed by guns, that 10 thousand or more people can be by deliberately or accidentally killed by gunfire EVERY year. The fact that armed guards patrol schools and some kids routinely wear armoured backpacks, beggars belief. Gunshot wounds are officially the biggest cause of death for children in the USA. Just looking at the numbers, you might imagine it's some war torn country in Africa... but it's actually the" civilised" USA.

    i disagree with not getting a specific built backpack
    1. you can still remove and put in "normal" packs
    2. the good ones use heavy duty zippers, best cordura, built in drag handles rated to 200lb plus
    3. i have 12 of them from 5 makes
    recommend leatherback gear

    so does FRAS protect against everything "lesser" as well? or do you need a IIIA behind it?

    • @TheLordHumungus
      @TheLordHumungus  Рік тому

      any of the NIJ armor ratings always include the lesser threats as well. So anything level 4 for example will cover all level 3 threats as well
      The only exception is stab-proofing is a separate capability / rating.

      i'll hve to do a video on the service life, because its not like a lot of people think. They don't "expire" like food and suddenly go bad or not work any more. Most of the time you can expect a lot, if not all, of the promised ballistic protection for a lot longer than 5 years, depending on how it is used/stored etc. It just isn't guaranteed by the manufacturers past that point.

      I thought the answer to any problem in the USA was to simply shoot it? Preferably with an assault rifle. Maybe the government are about to nuke YOU from orbit... so grab you guns and ammo, hide in the wildness and eat squirrels. Until UA-cam and the government are overthrown by peace loving, gun toting patriots like yourself. Then we can all feel safe.

    • @Valorius
      @Valorius 2 роки тому

      Technically IIIA stops 12 gauge shotgun slugs, but that does not mean you will live. Here is a video I took a few years ago of a 3" sabot slug vs Safariland IIIA armor. It speaks for itself. m.ua-cam.com/video/aPTXECNyKC8/v-deo.html I am just putting this here as a public service announcement

      its within the backface deformation limits. I am actually currently trying to compile data to make a video on survivability while wearing body armor, because its a topic that comes up often (the idea that the vest may 'stop' the projectile, but you'll still be seriously injured or die.
      It is extremely hard to find specific data on the subject, as there just isn't much, but according to an FBI study and any other data I can find, I have concluded it is basically almost unheard of to die if the round does not penetrate the armor.

    • @Valorius
      @Valorius 2 роки тому

      @@TheLordHumungus the Army did a study on this in the early 20 aughts and determined that any projectile with an impact energy of 2700 ft lb or higher has a very high chance of causing significant internal damage through blunt force trauma alone, even against SAPI plates of that era. Unfortunately I do not have a link but you should be able to find it, it used to be online. Probably still is. The 12 gauge slug in the video I posted (1oz @1800fps) is over 3,000 pounds of energy.

    • @TheLordHumungus
      @TheLordHumungus  2 роки тому +1

      yes I've been looking at those studies, there was one they did with live pigs as well in the 80's I think.
      While the data does suggest its possible to be killed without armor penetration, I haven't found any real-world examples of it yet.
