I love my 650D, it's taken thousands of photos. It actually does 7 fps. I've used it for wildlife and 4WD off road competitions, weddings and in snow. I also added a camera grip and have adjusted my settings for back button focusing. I've had it 11 yrs now and it's still going strong.
Hi Debbie, thanks for watching. The camera is really good and I'm not surprised you are still using it fully after 11 years, and did I get my research wrong 😕
@@MyPhotoJourney Just on the fps, yout research on everything else was spot on. The high fps was better than other cameras at the time of purchase and I needed that for photographing off road vehicles and wildlife. I was nervous purchasing it, being the first touch screen camera...what could go wrong, but nothing. It's a brilliant camera
I just saw a used one for $250 USD and wondering if it's a good buy. Trying out photography, a new hobby, so I need a camera that is budget friendly but takes good picture as well. Will this do? Thanks.
@chanthana7694 it sound's a good price, but I'd be trying it out first. Try it on full burst, is there any lag. Does the shutter button work correctly, or is it sticky. Do all the buttons and flash work. Is it clean or dirty. Only you can decide if it's worth it.
My parents bought this camera when I was 12 years old, it’s been sitting in the garage for almost 10 years. Today I am 24 and am learning how to take pictures. This video was perfect , thank you for the information. (I can’t believe it cost $160 now, in 2012 it cost my parents over $800) 🤣
Great overview! Im just starting my photography journey and this is my starter camera. As a newbie, I'm blown away by all the features. I've put together a healthy kit with many accessories for a very affordable price. Thanks again!
Thank you very much, it is nice of you to say. I do think you have a great camera to start your career, and Canon are a top brand that will serve you very well.
This was the first camera i ever bought. That was 11 years ago, only month after its release. I was a student in high school in Germany and wanted to shoot my first short film with it. Worked out super well and it ignited my passion for video and photography. I still use it to this day (for photo, i replaced the video side with a Canon XA-40 (don't buy it, not worth it)) but will soon replace it with an R6 MK2. It is still a great camera for it's money and very capable, even in less than perfect lighting conditions.
I have just bought a 650D body to team up with a 17-85 USM zoom that has lain unused since it had its aperture strap replaced. I’m looking forward to using it. Your video and photos have given me the confidence that I have made the right decision.
That's is awesome, I'm sure you will get some nice photos with that camera and lens, thanks a lot for watching and for taking your time to leave a comment 👍
Very informative Video indeed. I bought mine in 2012, and the last few weeks was looking to replace it with a modern compact Camera. Mainly because the 650d is a bit bulky, and my use case primarily is to take it along with me to capture family moments when traveling with 2 young kids. As we already have „kids stuff” carrying all the time, I wanted the camera to take as less space as possible while carrying a camera that can take much better photos than my iPhone. I am not looking for super professional looking photos; just sharp and good photos that I can print and frame it for home. None of the iPhone photos are sharp and good enough when printed, when compared to how they looking on the iPhone display.
Hi Jeff, Thanks for your comment. I must say having used the 650D over the past few weeks I have quite warmed to it, though I agree with you about the size and hence why I swapped my Pentax DSLR for a smaller lighter Olympus Mirrorless camera! Thanks again and good luck with your next camera!
I just want to say that I have shot many thousands of photos with my t4i. I also have shot numerous promotional videos for various projects with it. I always liked it because I could do pretty darn good videos with little work. I used a Zacuto viewfinder and a Rode VideoMic microphone with the t4i. I have several other alternatives such as camcorders and cinema cameras, but I used the t4i for those quick and short videos. My lens of choice was the Canon 15-85mm EFS. All of this makes for a light/small configuration, which produces great videos every time.
Just bought one of these yesterday (for $120 CAN). Already own a T6i and this makes a great backup camera. Love the colors this thing is able to capture. Yes, still a viable camera in 2024.
Still a very good camera for most uses. Touch/Swivel screen is very neat and the whole thing is very well made. There is an error that comes up on many of them, when the flash won't flip out - Err 05, I think. Apart from that very, very reliable - and with an adapter can also use Canon FD lenses, if you are prepared to forego all the electronics.
Hey, this is Lincoln Arboretum! My stomping ground as a child. Awesome video by the way! I'm looking for a DSLR again to get back into video and photography work on UA-cam. Would be good to connect in Lincoln! Subscribed!
Yeah I live in Lincoln and really like the Arboretum and have recorded lots of videos there. Good luck with finding a camera, there are so many to choose from. Thanks a lot for watching and subscribing 👍👍
I started out with a Canon EOS 650 film camera with 3 lenses back in 1987 and in 2014 finally decided to buy a slightly used EOS 650D and of course still able to use my EF lenses all these years later. Both great cameras. Chose this over the 60D and 70D because reviews said the video was more capable. I probably wont ever need another camera between this and my phone.
just bought one for 150 € with the kit lens. I like that old cams. You must not think about the price, just have fun and take pictures, if it crash, just get another 650, 700, 750. Thx for your Videos, greetings from Austria.
Picked up one of these today for $220 aud with the 18-55 lens, 10 sd cards and 5 batteries. Can’t wait to get stuck into it next week on my holiday while I watch a meteor shower
Thanks for your comment - most of my early videos I used my Samsung phone, and the more recent videos I have filmed them on my Olympus OMD EM1 mark ii.
I got one for cheap on a lens deal and gave it to my son. He shot his aunt’s wedding with it and I fixed up the RAW files for him and his pictures turned out better than the photographer they hired.
Thanks for another helpful video. I have to admit that I’m amazed that you can get down to a shutter speed of 1/25 hand held (unless you have a sneaky tripod somewhere 😂) I struggle at 1/40 more often than not.
Sorry for the dumb question, but I pulled my T4i out to take some skyline pictures and put on a 75 inch monitor/TV for our company during presentations. The pictures come out very nice for an 11 year old camera. BUT, when putting the pictures up on the big TV, there are black bars on the sides. I can change the aspect ratio to 16X9 on the T4i, but they are still there. You can see the difference between ratios, but the bars never go away. Is there a setting on the camera that would allow the pictures to fill the screen completely? As a comparison, my iPhone 13 Pro Max when set to 16X9 photo will indeed fill up the entire TV screen. But the pics don't look as good, especially when shooting from far away. Maybe it's just later cameras that will do this. I've been out of the photo game for a long time ha! Thanks for any info. Great video and keep up the good work!
Thanks for a very informative video. I too have a 650 D and have taken some very good pics. I have moved on from clicking family pics to street photography, which i feel needs a much slimmer camera to "blend" with the crowd, hence using my iPhone 12 pro. Haven't used the 650 till now though, mite as well give it a try with a 18-55 standard lens.
That's great, and I agree a slightly bulky DSLR probably isn't best suited for street, but you will get great results with that camera for any type of photography. 👍
Thanks for watching and for your question. Although one battery should be OK, it isn't a new camera and the battery has probably degraded, and 2nd would be helpful 👍
Definitely a good camera for a concert, and you may need a portrait or longer lens depending on how far away you are from the stage, though the kit lens will get nice shots 👌
Do you reckon using a fast write-speed SD card will make my 650d less slow when recording video? It sometimes takes a while until I can hit record again, waiting for the recording to save or process
The iPhone 12 is amazing for photography and I would use both the phone and the Canon Camera, Not sure what you mean about the quality, and I have published a video on Night photography. Thanks for asking 😊
For photography at the beginner level , would you prefer me to use an iPhone 13/14, or should i use my Canon 650D ? I actually wanna take some cool pictures of the sports cars around me
Thanks for watching. The iPhone is amazing but it will never beat that camera for photography and creativity. If you have a 650D I recommend you use it. Good luck 👍

Thanks for watching, I'm not sure and the 70D is definitely a nice camera with good features, good luck 👍
Hi which camera should i buy canon 650d or canon 4000d for photos
That's an interesting question, for me I would get the 650d because of the fully articulated screen. Thanks for watching
@@MyPhotoJourney my only concern is portrait photography is the 250d good for it?
Portrait photography is more about the lens than the camera, and either would work.
is it a kit camera or you addd your new lens?
Kit camera, though the 50mm lens was bought separately. Thanks for watching 👍👍
do u think its great for making cinematography not much moving subject in video ?

would using an iphone 12 be better? also whenever i record the quality is terrible, could u show us how to create night videos with good quality
