What he does is not rocket science. You mount up an optic, shoot a couple thousand rounds with it, rack it off a post a few times, drop it a few times and see if it still works. No quantum physics required.
It's possible the engineering behind the near flush fit rear lens makes it easier to quickly swipe any crud or mud away without it getting compacted on the edges. Great review.
This. Shirt lint getting into the recesses of the optic is the main reason I want to upgrade. If I leave my rmr for more than a few days without wiping it the dot blooms like crazy.
@@ImperiumLibertasreally? That’s strange, I have quite a bit of time on my rmr and I have yet to clean or wipe the lens at all, it the dot is crisp as ever
That’s how the early Navy contract samples of the Tasco Super Snipers had their objective lens. The idea was to be able to flick the optic to shed and beaded up water.
@nathanskupowski4726 What do you do to keep crud down? I had an open emitter for 3 days and it was building up a decent amount of crud. EPSc has been much easier to live with.

So what ya mean... it should be a "life standard" cause we all know in life shit happens. Lol 😂 "if something can happen, it will happen" words my friend gave me when I use to work in automotive and diesel vehicles. Weird crap all the time
Have you seen The Honest Outlaw's torture test on this optic? If not , it's worth watching. He beat it up. That optic is what all others will want to be baring any longevity issues.
The capstan screw is gonna go a long way to alleviate frustrations. Specifically the frustration of stripped heads galled threads, and finding the right size allen wrench 😂
Always love when Aaron gives us some free content. I love my Holosun EPS Carry, so it's going to be hard to move over to Trijicon. Great video, anyhow.
@jesserobinson838 😂😂😂😂😂 I've beat the hell out of three 509Ts and two EPS's and they still work great. Had three RMRs that all quit or had the battery flicker issue.
I appreciated the effort when you posted the videos for free...and he still profited from that. However, when the only thing that matters is money, the reviews might still be good but no appreciation is necessary.
Both my pistols have the threaded bosses. I was curious if this would fit. Thanks for mentioning that right in the beginning. I'm happy the RMR footprint will live on. Still happy with my RMR Type 2s that I bought based off of your reviews. There is a Trijicon video showing how to torque these screws with an Allen wrench and a a supplied card that shows how much you torque is applied based on how much the wrench bends.
If there is a piece of gear that I am interested in, the first thing I do I check your channel to see if you have reviewed it. Another amazing and informative video!
This is something I’ve been looking forward to. I have a couple of enclosed optics and I strongly believe this will replace 3 optics on my guns. Especially on my number one duty gun and my first edc that I always use and down the road get another for my second edc.
@@KSN2019 I’ve got the entire holosun line up already. 2x 508t’s 1x 509t a few 507c’s and even a 407c oh and one of the primary arms acss Vulcan 507’s. So….. needless to say. Anyone complaining about price probably isn’t ever at risk of breaking an optic, but to anyone who the durability matters it’s worth the extra. And it’s like $560 for qualified professionals.
I’ve always said the same thing about the blue lens filter in some RDS. When you’re running drills, you don’t see any blue filter. You are just focused on the target and red dot. Great job on the review. 🤙🏼🇺🇸
Both of my glocks are milled for RMRs, so it makes sense to stick with that foot print. I’ll eventually get one to replace the 407c on my G19. The 407c doesn’t work as well with my astigmatism compared to the RMR on my G17. I looked through a 509t and had the same problem. My astigmatism just doesn’t work with their emitter.
I just mounted an RCR on an Agency AOS slide. I had to cut the raised posts down a couple of mm and I had to use #4-40 button head screws instead of the capstan screws. I also had to modify the allen key for the button head screws to make it fit in the small gap allotted for the capstan screw heads. Finally, it took a very long time to screw in because you only get about 15 degrees of movement with each turn. It works, though. I used loctite and estimated about 10 in/lbs of torque. We'll see if it loosens up.
In regards to brightness levels, it is nice to have brighter dots for those who have eye damage from Optic Neuritis. Dots (light/color in general) are dimmer in my damaged eye vs my non damaged eye.
Thanks for posting Aaron. I ran an RMR for duty use for years but now carry a 507C for duty use bc I love the ACSS Vulcan reticle. No matter the angle of my presentation from a compromised position or stress level, finding the dot is almost guaranteed. I like closed emitters but don't trust the 509 due to fogging and internal moisture issues I've seen. Would be awesome if Trijicon & other manufacturers would do something similar to the Vulcan, especially in a closed emitter optic.
@jessegpresley Can be a crutch if you haven't put the time in without it but from a purely tactical perspective, it could be a lifesaver. i.e. if injured, presenting with off-hand, from a laying position etc
People who saw the t rex arms review on it where he was bashing optics reviews that have high round count or drop testing need to see what a REAL review looks like. Glad you put it on youtube
I know the majority of his video is on Patreon but I still don’t understand how this man doesn’t have much more subscribers. I watch a ton of reviews but I hold sage’s review with the highest regard. If it’s not sage approved then it’s not approved for me.
Basically what was expected. I would say look thru it, or better yet, demo before purchasing if you have an astigmatism. Some find that the bluer the tint and smaller the dot makes the dot appear more of a starburst.
I think they should include an inch pound spring type torque wrench (like the old bendy bar and pointer torque wrench) to torque the screws. It's probably too easy to over or under torque the screws.
Performed as expected. It kind of hurts my ocd that I’d want to figure out a way to use an actual torque wrench to tighten those mounting screws with proper Locktite of course. 🧐
You can use a torque wrench on the screws designed for this. You’d have to adapt a torque wrench designed for spokes on a small wheel. Anyone who takes maintenance for their dirt bike seriously would likely have a good adjustable spoke torque wrench in their toolbox.
Great video! I have an RMR now and generally love and trust it. One concern with it, however, is that the glass fogs when moving from cold to warm environments. Does the RCR solve that?
Great review as always. This optic is a little large for me to put on a concealed carry pistol. I will put this on my CMMG Dissent PDW in 300 blackout.
