This simplified the actual process for me, I began to think I was going to have to locate the wires coming from the steering wheel itself but was pleasantly surprised to learn that I could splice into the existing radio harness! Hands down great video that explains the steps simply and logically. Keep up the great work my friend!!!!!!!!
I have this connected to a Pioneer and it works fine. I'm going to change head unit to a Joying 10.1" Android unit, it doesn't have the 3.5mm input. My plan is to get a female 3.5mm to RCA adapter, cut off the RCA connectors and use the loose cables to Key 1 and Key 2 on the Joying. Do you know if I should use both "positive" or one "positive" and one "ground" ?
Thanks for the great video! The SWI instructions are very lacking, without your video i wouldnt know which is just Black or SWC black. Also great tip about hooking up the Red yellow and black directly to the head unit wiring, much easier! Two Thumbs UP!!
Hey thank you for the video! Do you have a link to download the controlpro app? I tried googling but nothing and on android says its not supported for my version of android, tried with old phones and new phones, same results :(
It depends on what the radio has as a steering wheel input. If it has a single wire, connect the single blue/yellow wire to it. If it's a 2 wire setup, just cut off the 3.5mm jack and connect the two wires to them.
Hey man. I got this installed along with a kenwood stereo in my Honda Pilot. The steering wheel controls works sometimes and at other times they don’t. Any idea why this would happening? Thanks
My head unit has a 3.5mm for a mic and one labelled remote. Would I be able to plug into one of those? The PAC instructions say to use the 3.5mm with my unit but now I’m not sure if that’s correct
Hi there JP. Can u tell me if install this item to a honda civic 97 model with a android 9inch screen with a honda account steering wheel with a button function. Please get back at me plz. Thanks.
i like to military spice for the most part here is a vid on how to tap into wires like that ua-cam.com/video/7Kq-93DVjOM/v-deo.html or twist the wires together before you add the connector
I installed in a 2015 Mazda 3 base model (no touch screen) also opted for the SWI-CP2 to retain my steering wheel control, I hooked it all up following the directions step by step I have a Kenwood KMM-BT328U -the dip setting I have on the SWi-CP2 (For explanation I will say up and down “DOWN has the word ON with a arrow pointing down) 1-down 2-down 3-down 4-down 5-down 6-down 7-up 8-up Second bar 1-down 2-down 3-up 4-up The steering wheel controls do not work and they kinda do..... they are not doing what they are suppose to if I hold the volume down button or click it a bunch of times it will bring the head unit all the way down to zero and will not let me go up on the volume and when I click back or forth on the Seek/next tack it makes head unit “ATT ON/ATT OFF” only flaws I found is the second step in wiring - it says to connect wire WHITE/BLACK to Pin 12 grey( on my car pin 12 is black and pin 14 is grey) now I know some time manufactures change color of wire but not pin spots so I connected to pin 12 -second part there is multiple BLACK wires to connect to my car on Pin 14 as well as Pin 9 I even thought I may have mixed those up and tried reversing them as they are both solid black coming from the SWI-CP2 Also seems that when the SWI-CP2 is connected it’s flashes green constantly in the trouble shooting that states “A button is being pressed” Hope to hear back with a resolution, Thanks
Nice video, man. The last 4 dip-switches, the PAC program tells you to have the first three up and the last one down, looks like you have the first three down and the last one up...I'm sure you caught it, just thought I'd point it out. Also, that dash kit is ugly! No shade on you, that's Metra or Scosche...some of their kits just aren't great-looking, you know? Anyway, I enjoy your videos, well done. :)
I’ve been searching for about 30-45 min for someone to actually show how to connect the steering wheel control harness , Thanks for the detailed video
Anytime man thanks for watching

Keep up the great work my friend!!!!!!!!
Brotha, you have made my life so much easier.
That's amazing! The instructions said 1, 2 and 3 UP and 4 Down for the Sony stereo and you did the exact OPPOSITE and it still worked . . . . somehow!
When I saw he had the switches wrong I was like “whaaaaat” haha
Thanks!

Nice job JP. Just what I needed to see.

Where did you plug into on the back of the Sony radio ??
Where did you plug the SWC jack into on the back of the radio? I have the same radio but don’t see anywhere to put it
can you help me with a 2013 nissan altima retaining steering wheel control. i’m confused with the chassis ground and the 68ohm watt resistor on aswc-1
Hey thank you for the video! Do you have a link to download the controlpro app? I tried googling but nothing and on android says its not supported for my version of android, tried with old phones and new phones, same results :(
Do I plug the aux cord into the remote port on the radio? Idk where else to plug it but my bottoms aren’t working
That's work on bmw e39 with aftermarket navigation?
How did you get it to work when the second set of switched are backwards?
I have a eonon in my 2014 maxima I’m unable to select a radio any options? Trying to get my steering wheel control working
Omg your video is soooo helpful! Thank you for posting this!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Nice video bro. Does this interface work on 2017 chevrolet trax?
What if it’s telling you to plug in a 3.5mm and you don’t have one what’s the work around

Was it doing it before you installed the radio. Sometimes the actual controls go bad
Any info on 04 tl
what input on the back of the radio do you plug the 3.5mm into?
If your radio has a steering wheel control jack it should say W/R or SWC
My head unit has a 3.5mm for a mic and one labelled remote. Would I be able to plug into one of those? The PAC instructions say to use the 3.5mm with my unit but now I’m not sure if that’s correct
Use the one that says remote w/r is wired remote it's the same thing
Hi there JP.

Kinda helpful. The ONLY thing I was really needing is how you added the PAC wires to the radio harness. Did you use pins, or just shove them in?

I have a Kenwood KMM-BT328U
-the dip setting I have on the SWi-CP2 (For explanation I will say up and down “DOWN has the word ON with a arrow pointing down)
1-down
2-down
3-down
4-down
5-down
6-down
7-up
8-up
Second bar
1-down
2-down
3-up
4-up
The steering wheel controls do not work and they kinda do..... they are not doing what they are suppose to if I hold the volume down button or click it a bunch of times it will bring the head unit all the way down to zero and will not let me go up on the volume and when I click back or forth on the Seek/next tack it makes head unit “ATT ON/ATT OFF”
only flaws I found is the second step in wiring
-
it says to connect wire WHITE/BLACK to Pin 12 grey( on my car pin 12 is black and pin 14 is grey) now I know some time manufactures change color of wire but not pin spots so I connected to pin 12
-second part there is multiple BLACK wires to connect to my car on Pin 14 as well as Pin 9 I even thought I may have mixed those up and tried reversing them as they are both solid black coming from the SWI-CP2
Also seems that when the SWI-CP2 is connected it’s flashes green constantly in the trouble shooting that states “A button is being pressed”
Hope to hear back with a resolution, Thanks
Thanks, Man.
Is the app only available on a computer or is it available on a phone or tablet??
And great video makes this so much easier
Its available on phone or tablet as well I think its called control pro by aamp global
AWESOME, (THANK YOU❗️❕❗️)
Thank you
Since both blacks are grounds, can’t they just go to the same place?
1 needs to be grounded for power and the other is a reference ground for the controls
@@jptheinstallguy thanks bro
