if you do an LT77 i would love to see you go through setting up the reverse and 5th shims (mine is the later type so not the one with the adjustable bolt for 5th)
No - it could be that the O ring on the bottom of the gear stick is finished www.lrworkshop.com/diagrams/land-rover-series-3-gearbox/lt76/gearbox-main-gear-lever-except-109in-v8_151#25
Long time watcher, first time commenter…. I’m really struggling…. I’ve put a rebuilt r380 into my 110 and as often as not it jumps out of first when moving off. I’ve been through the whole gear linkage set up a couple of times to no avail. 3rd and 5th give no issues suggesting it’s not a detention ball issue…. Do you have any ideas before I take it all out again and send it back? (Warranted unit) Thanks
Ah but what of the LT77/230t bias plate horrors? They always crack, and/or shear and you are left with a 1st/2nd bias - every time. You could get round to replacing the plate... or leave it so only you can drive the bugger. Anyone else is graunching "the grand old duke of york" "Where did you last see your stolen Landrover sir?" Just over there... listen - he's still trying to get a gear - bwahaha"
When you read the manual, the instructions make it sound much worst than it is to adjust.
Top job Mike for simplifying the instructions. 👍
Thanks 👍
I tell ya what, i recon you have the best land rover videos on youtube 👌 top job 😊
Thanks 👍
You make it look easy it’s really not, but you do make it look easy
I always appreciate watching the benefit of years of experience.👌
Thanks!

A short but very informative video please can you do a similar video on setting the fifth gear stop
LT77?
I would if I had a remote! I have lots of LT77 but boxes only - no shift mechanisms!
@@BritannicaRestorations Thank you for your reply keep improving Land Rover one at a time 😁😁😁

Does it matter if its right hand drive ? Still use third gear to set spring stops ?
Yeap !
These tips, like the bonnet spring, just make ownership a real pleasure!
I understand that the lt77 was used on the TR7!
Mike will this apply to my series lt76 as reverse is lovely but 1 2 3 and 4 feel like the spring isn't doing anything
