The bottom bolt bracket off my motors block an can't find noone to weld it. Also,us there maybe a bracket I can bolt somewhere else an add second bolt to something like that for my alternator in my 06 5.7 jeep grand Cherokee limited. Please help
Afternoon guys, im getting ready to put a 2011 5.7 in a 69 dart with manual steering, no ac and I'd like the alternator low on the passenger side. Would a 15 jeep/challenger front cover with electric steer fit so i don't have to cut the frame? Would my crank pulley work or would I need the doner also? Thanks for all y'all do!
2011 has the same accessory drive dimensions as 2012-2021. You can run the Jeep alternator from a 2006-2008 but may need to shim it to align on the 2011-2021 timing cover. As far as timing covers go the dimensional ranges are, 05-08 then 09/10 and then 11-up.
@@SUBLIMEparts Just to clarify, I've currently got a truck front cover. Will the 06--08 jeep alternator shim up to my timing cover? The reason I asked about the 15 Jeep cover is the PS delete pulley. How would I route the belt if I'm not running PS or AC? Delete pulleys?
How do you control tension with a one through bolt "Swing" mount like this? Is there another piece that didn't get mentioned? Or are the lower bolt holes utilized?
@@SUBLIMEparts Thank you! I'm new to the Gen III Swap. Trying to learn as much as I can while I'm still gathering parts. You have the best info of anyone I've come across so far!
Hey, late response but unfortunately we could not make it to Carlisle this year. Covid and show uncertainties kept us from making the 20 hour drive. We hope to make it out next year though!
I don't believe this will work with newer VVT front cover Hemis, as the belt alignment will be off. I used a late model 160amp Mopar alternator and it bolted to the stock provisions without modification in a 71' Barracuda. The 160amp uses a smaller case vs. the 180 or 220.
Dr. Mopar, M.D. we did a 2013 5.7 this way too a year ago, but we will for sure verify once again, just in case we are mistaken. We interchange alternators a lot between years for various reasons. The difference in the newer vvt engines of 09+ is the thickness of the timing cover to accommodate the VVT cam phaser. All accessories are spaced forward, with exception of the power steering pump delete pulley as used on electric power steering pump models. That’s why people have problems with belt alignment when using the power steering delete pulley from a VVT engine on a non VVT engine. The delete pulley bolts right to the cylinder head and doesn’t shift with timing cover change. As stated above, we will verify to make sure. We really value the discussion and love the feedback though, thanks for bringing this up!
@@SUBLIMEparts You nailed it. I found out the hard way unfortunately about the VVT spacing and had to do some juggling. The smaller case of the 160 was a huge relief for me, I'm not a fan of cutting the car either if I can avoid it. Not much info out there currently, so I'm glad I stumbled on this vid. Glad to see the Jeep alternator could be another solution.
Dr. Mopar, M.D. haha, we totally understand. We have a bunch of 220A police alternators around and would love to use them, but sometimes they just don’t work out. Do we really need 220A? Probably not, but the hotrodder instinct is always “more has to be better!”
@@SUBLIMEparts I am using a motor out of a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherookee SRT, it has the car water pump with the alternator on the lower passenger side. I drilled the top bolt boss, trimmed the plastic cover on the alternator a bit, mounted it, and that pulley sits rearward about 1/2".
So far we put the alternator on the bench, took the pulley off, put as many washers as we could behind it, and reassembled with loctite. I got the alternator back on the car and will be trying a 5 rib belt cause it's still a bit behind everything else.
Havent gotten to the belt yet, but i've found that in 2009 is when they added VVT but I read that the alternators didnt change to PWM until 2012? That might work with the 2012+ 6.4L
I love DIY Hemi! Im learning so much
Thanks so much! These comments make us push for the next vid. 😎

Awesome tip I’m going to use this on my 5.7 going in my 71 duster
Mike, did that alt swap require the second bolt in bottom
AWESOME!!

There is a lower bolt as well

Do you happen to know how much room this gains? Do you have a measurement?
It depends on the application. Hard to tell but it's about 1/2" to 3/4" smaller protrusion. Hope this helps.

I have a 2021 6.4 power steering delete going in a 72 Demon. Which way should I go
I broke my bottom bolt bracket on my 2006 5.7 jeep grand Cherokee limited
To be clear this WILL NOT WORK ON A 2015 6.4L HEMI, ask me how I know.
On some you have to drill and tap the bolt boss. Are you using a truck 6.4? This is for cars
