I like how most scouts had a radio... A single scout with a radio has the capability to do more damage than an infantry platoon. A skill level 1 scout has already the capability to conduct reconnaissance, navigate through terrain, conduct patrols, and call for many types of indirect fire via air or arty onto enemy positions. 19Do it all...! See you bitches at Fiddlers Green!
+Brandon Cole Im not going to disrespect my fellow infantrymen... but to me a POG is someone who sits in the rear of the fight, scouts are first in and last out and in front of infantry and all other conventional forces... and you are still a troll who has shown that you have 0 clue as to what being brothers in arms mean.
+Brandon Cole You're right cav scouts are POG's (people other than grunts) but what's a grunt? "a low-ranking or unskilled soldier or other worker" so cav scouts are actually skilled well trained reconnisance personnel AND an infantry unit when it's needed. Scouts out!
built that OP, OP English from the ground up. Many patrols from that area. My plt #rd had the first attack hile holding the grounds waiting for engineers to clear the area and star building it. 6/8CAV Alpha troop, 3rd plt!!!
Trust me guy, we have plenty of war stories from there as well and lmao at your stay off the road comment. You have no clue the situation behind us taking the route or the location. But it was right next to our permanent OP.
0:27 Did anyone else notice a soldier left his rifle with the magazine in out of arms reach? One distraction and it could turn deadly. Of course, I don't know the disposition of the Afghans they were with, but the thought just crossed my mind.
Can someone describe to me in detail the life of a 19D? Fun or boring? Are they the "smarter" of the infantry men? Anything really. I'm stuck between 35F or 19D.
Try not to do this shit in the future man. The enemy is always trying to monitor specific things even something like that. You can use more general terms like soon or something but keep that in mind. Hopefully you head to a troop at basic and OSUT that will hammer that point in.
@ john biddle I'm taking off on the 1st with this mos. I'm told they are the ones who check areas out before military send it bigger units or creates posts
G Miller lol no we're not basically infantry. we're reconnaissance. infantry go in to fight. we go to find the enemy, maintain stealth and report it back to the Commander. it offers the Commmander more options. whether to move the Inf or Ar to close with and kill.or,use artillery to pound the enemy into the stone age. if a Scout plt runs into trouble, they're gonna be calling in the main units to come bail them out as well as indirect fire.the Scout's best friends are the 11C's. the Inf & Ar are much more suited to go take the fight to the enemy. but as far as kickin doors, yeah were all doin grunt shit lol so in short, they have the support of whatever the main unit is. no were not infantry,we're Cavalry. we Scout, screen, overwatch, provide security, traffic control points and do hasty demolition on high priority targets (like bridges) if there are no immediate engineer assets available. we are also used as force multipliers to reinforce the main combat force. such as just using us in a Inf role like kickin in doors. hope this helped lol
In today's modern Army and battlefield without distinct front lines, and since the drawdown from Cold War, with fewer bodies to share across the battlespace basically every combat arms MOS (infantry, armor, field artillery, engineers, and scouts) will at times operate as an infantry unit in addition to their primary MOS in a FOB/CP style battlefied including attachments from support functions such as MPs, maintenance, and quartermaster/logistics. Today's downsized army personnel is 85% overhead (non combat arms) so all soldiers are fair-game and have a high likelihood of operating in an infantry style capacity.
I am not in the Army (will be once i am old enough) (only 16 right now) but having said that you can be a cav scout and get your ranger TAB at ranger school but you will not be able to go to RASP and enter the 75th ranger regiment. Hope that cleared things up
In a conventional war they will go in front of the mainstay of armored, infantry and other units and scout the enemy positions. They either avoid combat or zoom in full speed attack and get their asses out of their. In a geurilla war they are like normal infantry units, but not as well trained as the infantryman in infantry tactics.
Hey don't beat your self up I passed with a 35 I barley passed. Just keep taking the practice test an you will do fine I hope to see you soon solider PVT Simpkiss out.
***** scouts aren't infantry by the MOS series they are actually armor 19 series. But Ar. and Inf. unit will both have at least one scout platoon. I think there is only one or two units in the whole army that have motorcycles. A scout could be on armor hummer motorcycle buggy Blackhawk and most often boots. Did 10yrs as a trooper myself in 2/68 ar then 1/54 inf and 1/4 Cav "Quarterhorse". "Scouts Out"
Are the US army allowed to get out from camp like go to village to buy some stuff like food water or etc some times goat, alone or two army? Because here in Philippines army are allowed to go to village to buy some stuff like that, then yesterday 7/18/2019 arround 2pm two of our armys got ambush died shots in head by Terrorist NPA.
I know this is an old video, but I'm curious. When I enlisted in 2008 we went to Ft. Knox and the signing bonus was $20k. Does anyone know what the bonus is now? I know OSUT is in Ft. Benning now though.
I love most of our soldiers and I do support them, but when they die a part of me dies. I can't believe this year. It's been ISIS a million times murdering people all over the world, homegrown violence and devastation, and I hate to admit it, but please be patient when I describe what happened to me this past summer a summer so horrible I will curse that time of year for the rest of my life and my journey to eternity in the afterlife. I was shipped off twice to violence and terror filled institutions and in brief interim I had been so badly beaten that my mind and reasoning left me. I forgot what a soldier was I was so sick and lost all my faith in everything including myself. I, in rage and torment, for the first and last time in my life seriously attempted suicide. I nearly succeeded and that is the scariest experience and closest to an actual wound that I have had NEVER DO IT NEVER LOSE YOUR FAITH! I was out cold for two days and nights. Then more brutality when I sought help. Our health care at least in New Jersey is rotten and shit, but my salvation is my new determination to live to the fullest and to never again lost my faith in myself and the people I love. This video warmed my heart to see what a great job these heroes are doing. Best wishes to you in Mosul you must defeat ISIS!

+Brandon Cole being full of shit must come naturally for you. I don't remember a single time there was infantry forward of us.
I get what your saying John but they are pogs, for a pog is personnel other (than) grunts. Cavs seen not grunts
+Brandon Cole You're right cav scouts are POG's (people other than grunts) but what's a grunt? "a low-ranking or unskilled soldier or other worker" so cav scouts are actually skilled well trained reconnisance personnel AND an infantry unit when it's needed. Scouts out!

should've just went infantry if yall was gone do this lol
Josh Harrison scouts lead the way for the infantry
Funny because we dont need scouts when we have our own recon companies/platoons to do the job yall are supposed to do
Thinking about choosing this MOS can someone try to explain to me eat they do exactly?
In a conventional war they will go in front of the mainstay of armored, infantry and other units and scout the enemy positions. They either avoid combat or zoom in full speed attack and get their asses out of their.
In a geurilla war they are like normal infantry units, but not as well trained as the infantryman in infantry tactics.
