I ship out February 14th 2023 for basic and I am honored to have picked 19D. Can’t wait to make all the cavalry scouts before me and present proud!
I'm currently working through the enlistment process and I'm hoping 19d will be a option.
@Stars 'n Stripes I look forward to it.

Nice bro i just got done enlisting going for 19D too on june20
I just left OSUT a few days ago from Ft Benning. As long as you can take the mental side of it all you’ll be fine.
As former 13A, lemme tell you, 19D is awesome MOS, amazing job. I was FiST and fires support planning, and later battlespace asset deconfliction. Many ,but not all, Cav Scouts enlisted do end up getting abn and air assault badges. Maybe 10% of E-6 and higher NCO in mech Cav Scout troops and squadrons also have RANGER tab and Pathfinder torch wing. One area that ever Cav Scout and my former MOS (Field Artillery FiST) have to be just the best is land nav. Land nav the old school way. Lensatic compass, protractor, paper acetate map. From PFC to Colonel. Knowing where you are, down to 100 meters or less in seconds, at any time, any place, any weather, is Cav Scout's burden. Must know it, and must be able to determine it within 10 seconds or less. Of course, EPRS, and GPS navaid, make job easier. When those systems are up. A Cav Scout detailed to light infantry, has to be able to hump his 75lb ruck , weapon, and gear at same rate and distance as 11B infantrymen. Cav Scouts have the thickest skins in Army. Fowl and lewd language abounds, mixed gender formation or not.
@@thomasandersen5349 It is, was, officer speak. Even with few misspellings. To let enlisted know that even though we are officers, we are still human . Any officer who believes himself or herself immune to erroneous actions is a danger to mission, and his or her subordinates. The only person who is beyond reproach are CO and SMG. Especially Sergeant Major. Even if SMG is ehheemmm, 'wrong', I won't be the one to tell him. The only time I would question SMG is if I walk into his GP Med, finding Sergeant Major, drunk , high, naked, and a Thai ladyboy's mouth wrapped around his cock. Even then I would refrain from judging. Who am I to judge Sergeant Major!
Remember about having thick skin in combat MOS. Should be an issue item when you sign for strike plates for your vest. Sadly it is not. It is incumbent on every soldier in 11, 12, 13, 19, and 18 MOS to grow thick skin.
14 years ago i was the first man in my family since my great, great grandfather Eustes fought alongside Custer at little big horn to join the cav! 19D all the way!

being a scout was the best decision i made in my life , im very proud , to have been cav 1993-2018 ret i was ft knox armor school b4 ft benning
question.. i served 2 years as 37X and did 68W work when injured, until discharge, is 19D a worthy job of re-enlisting for?
I don't know why Army moved armor schools to an Infantry post, with terrain that favors infantry training, but lacking in open spaces for armor to roll. It was a boneheaded move. Then BRAC did it again! When they moved Air Defense from Ft. Bliss to Ft.Sill.
5/15 Alpha Troop 3rd PLT April 1997. We see you.
Did you deploy?
I was a scout, formally known as 11D, back in the day, also 11B, 11H, and 11C. I held those MOS's in CSC 2/7 CAV, and A Co 1/12 CAV, 1st CAV Div from 1973-1982, Ft. Hood, TX.
Glad an experienced E-2 can tell me what it takes to be a Scout...

Met a lot of good guys when I was serving as a Scout! Traveled to Louisiana, Kentucky, Egypt, Israel and stationed in Alaska. 1996-2000 🇺🇸
I loved my job as a scout and do not regret 1 second of it.
I am jealous of your MOS! I wanted branch commission to Armor, so I could lateral to Cav later. I had grades, I had ranking, still Army branched me to FA (13A). At least I got to work with armor and cav guys.
19D 75-79. 1st /10th CAV
did you have to ever actually engage with other sides? like fight them fr?
Current Cav Scout, been in since Jan 2019. If you’re looking to deploy, don’t pick this MOS. You will be assigned to a “mechanized” unit where you will be working on a Bradley or Stryker. Light Scouts will be a thing of the past. Go Airborne, only light units deploy right now. Getting out soon, spent 6 rough years working on a Bradley and only went on a rotation to Europe. The only good thing out of my service was the friends and memories.
😂, glad I got out from this MOS at basic.
"Why I wanted to be a CAV scout, is cause America has cav scouts, and America is a nation, and within the nation of America, there is history and history tells us that there were cav scouts in America. That is why I am an infantryman 🇺🇸"

So, you're looking toward what could be, unburdened by what has been...
Just enlisted as a 19D yesterday. Shipping out September 9.
I'm getting ready to sign as a 19D in the national guard don't have a ship date yet but recruiter said between November and February
As a former Holy Crusade veteran, this makes me realize just how far as a species we have come
As an old school, Knox trained scout, I wouldn't trade my time in for anything!
When did they move to Fort Benning? Is it still 5/15?
@@devilswhiskeywell when I went through in 2015 it’s now called harmony church in for benning, yes we still were 5/15 and they moved back in 2006. From what I’ve seen I think there is another troop other than 5/15 once they let females join in 2016
When were you at Knox? I was there summer of 02
I was a tank mechanic but as a hillbilly from Northeast Tennessee. I couldn't have been a scout. I'd revert back to old habits and start deer hunting.
It’s nice to see they took out the dune buggies and dirt bikes out of the mos video. That’s how they tricked me into being a scout lol
Best duty I had a Ft Lewis in the only full motorcycle platoon in the Army, testing bikes for the Army!
Same! And the ghillie suit sniper dudes coming out of the creek.

On next week’s episode of “military jobs that will NEVER carry over into a civilian career”: MOS 19D, Calvary Scout
Exactly
Police make over 74 to 101 grand a year where I’m from
1968 when Ft. Knox was the Armour school. We had M113A1s and Jeeps. No Humvees or body armor. Steel pots and the M60 Main Battle Tank. Always be yourself, unless you can be Cavalry Then be Cavalry.
Had over 40+ options to choose from and I chose 19D. I ship out January.
Be careful
I hope you’re doing well, just know the struggle doesn’t last forever I’m on my way out now and I’ll honestly say best 6 months of my life
Should've went Infantry or something else.

@@RLTW2003how was rasp? I’m wondering because I’m thinking about going to rasp

I’m a 92 G and cavalry scout actually looks like the ultimate MOS in my opinion. I might transfer.
Got a friend who just finished AIT as 19D, says it's fun but at the same time he would've liked to know a little earlier that the life expectancy of a cav scout upon detection by enemy forces isn't calculated by percentages, it's calculated by seconds to minutes. Depending on how good they are at their job. Being out front of the main force has its disadvantages.. But that's the only downside really, he's having a great time otherwise!

Ah, you're pulling a Ty Carter.
When I think of cavalry. I think of soldiers on top of horses.
we still have stetsons and spurs
The US Army still had horse cavalry until WW2, as did various other countries. The last American horse cavalry charge in combat was in 1942 in the Philippines. It's still the exact same concept today but armored vehicles and helicopters are used.
At least there's one species that doesn't have to suffer in wars anymore - horses.

Did they make y’all get in full NBC gear with all sinks and showers pushing hot water out. It made the walls sweat but this was at Ft Knox. I’m old school Cavalry Scout.
I followed the same path my Great Great Grandfather did during the Civil War. He was a Cavalry Scout.
Sadly I was severally injured and I got out. Then the Veterans Administration medically retired me.
That was some good hot shower NBC training, in night mode with the lights out!.... 😂 I was also there, good times.
Scouts Out! Much love to out to all my 19Delta brothers...

Go Infantry 11B and try out for Scouts in your Infantry Battalion, or go to RASP or SFAS and get on a recce team. I was in a Long Range Surveillance Company as 11B and it was the best way to appreciate recon.
"Here boots, tell us all about your ship date or your fucking 1 year in"
When i was in i was a scout and it was closed off to female soldiers. I wonder how the soldiers today feel about it.
Same. They're probably enjoying themselves if you know what I mean.
It's horrible.
Echo 5-15 doesn't allow females and the other side near the clinic, they don't allow female's.
Alpha, Bravo, Charlie allows females...idk about Delta troop.
Aren’t they just infantryladies without a blue cord?
Yes.

Security jobs, law enforcement, border patrol careers, etc.
Just remember dont run to Noth Korea ? Great at land nav :)
we don't claim that POS
Will the Cavalry switch over to the M10 vs the M1 the M1 is huge for Cav operations the M10 have a smaller footprint yet still lethal
no. the M10 will be crewed by 19K. Tankers. The inside of the M10 was made to look simialr to the M1.
Really not difficult just get fit and you won’t have an issue. Did it for 6 years. Has it’s ups and downs like anything else but you get to play with some cool toys. Listen to the guys who have been there before.
Can Cav scouts go to sniper school?
Yes
Yes. There are many Scouts who are snipers, but in my experience, they are all NCO’s. But you cannot have your B4 marker without being an 11B.
But there are definitely Scout teams that are snipers in IBCT’s.
Most of the nay-sayers here complaining about this video and their Scout experience were probably in ABCT’s. IBCT Scouts do very cool things.
I wanna do this I have a neck tattoo 1 Inch in diameter you think I’ll be good ?

Hi there does anyone know a non-citizenship can choose this MOS?
As long as you are LEGALLY in USA and has been for 6 or more months , and qualify for enlistment , you can get this MOS. But no MOS is guaranteed. Needs of the Army come first. They also require above average ASVAB scores.
A security clearance isn't required for 19D, so I don't think US citizenship is mandatory. As far as the US Army goes I believe US citizenship is only required for intelligence and special operations related roles (Rangers, Special Forces, etc) as well as if you want to serve as a Commissioned Officer or Warrant Officer.
You do need to be a green card holder (legal permanent resident) and the military can't help you get one, as there is no visa route through military service. Military service is only advantageous if you want to naturalize as a US citizen. Once you do naturalize though, everything is open. Except probably anything that would give you direct control over nukes, etc.
There was an Irish immigrant in the Marine Raiders who got killed in a helicopter accident about 8 years ago. He enlisted in the USMC as an infantryman after moving to the US, he must've naturalized as a citizen at some point to meet the requirements to try out for MARSOC.
Why not. USA doesnt care of your a Communist Chinese or BLM terrorist

No. A drone can’t actively count movement or eliminate enemy recon. It also can’t classify structures for troop movements like measure bridge dimensions or read water current speed. They can do basic recon but a scout is more precise.
