This was a surprise.The film is just releasing today.Mammootty is reinventing himself at 71.Going to watch NPNM asap...btw my fav LJP chaos is city of God.
As a tamil audience I understood those old songs played in the background are exactly related to the particular scenes, "veedu varai uravu" the climax song we used to play in final departure, which exactly matches when sundaram's soul getting off and James returning from the village.
That moment when the film makers drop the song 'Veedu Varai Uzhavu ' is probably the greatest goosebumps moment in recent years. Watching it again , my day off today, atleast 2 times and more. I just can't get enough of this film.
The journey of faith is not about what we can get out of it, but, instead, how God can transform us from within. This is also a spiritual journey believers being village simpletons who are building temples and believes in the return of a soul and other doubters whose belief is somewhat transactional. In the end, James has a spiritual awakening and becomes Sundaram (a beautiful person).
As someone who is both a malayali and a tamilian..it was a real treat to watch! Some slight references and insights into the movie can be found in the choice of songs or the dialogues from the old tamil movies. And it can be really a mystery for someone who can't understand both the languages

@ssss I am not a fanboy of Mohanlal.I don't have much interest in honey rose too.I agree monster was a low movie.Still i enjoy the movie up to interval and definitely enjoyed Mohanlal's dialogues with Honey Rose.His presentation, conduct and bodu language on that scenes were fine only..One more thing_Mohanlal' s expressions reduced bit off late(may be after alleged botox treatment).Still there is no problem with his performances in Action Sequences.He's still top in that aspect.

Mammotty's Thaniyavarthanam made me a huge fan of "slow" movies. Though it is the script that is fantastic, the acting (from mammotty ,to thilakan to kaviyoor ponnamma, mukesh, saritha) were stunning

Angamaly diaries and Jallikettu. When it comes to story telling and acting, Malayalam movies are definitely the best in India. No other Indian movie industry shows Hindu, Muslim and Christian characters and their traditions so factually, there is not stereotype.
So so much is still there, if you see when james walks out of the bus he disappears likewise in the last part where sundaram steps out of the house he can be seen disappearing into thin air as he passes a piller and his shadow is left behind inside the house. This is just something that in the film people miss

I think it was a dream during his afternoon nap. In the final shot Lijo deliberately showing their vehicle’s name board with the name of their drama group, remember he never shown the front view of the vehicle until the last scene.
Ameen of course , i think that was his debut film , not sure though. As you rightly said, master of chaos...when I watched Angamaly diaries I am sure I literally had no clue what direction next scene would take the story to...uncertainty drives him i guess. When a director like that goes in for killing in movies, most would not check on details of the story, would just jump right in, which makes that movie an adventure. Hopefully come out of it in one piece, sometimes not, remember Churulli, Audience is still working out whether there was an alien...:)

I think it was a dream during his afternoon nap. In the final shot Lijo deliberately showing their vehicle’s name board with the name of their drama group, remember he never shown the front view of the vehicle until the last scene.

As you rightly said, master of chaos...when I watched Angamaly diaries I am sure I literally had no clue what direction next scene would take the story to...uncertainty drives him i guess.
When a director like that goes in for killing in movies, most would not check on details of the story, would just jump right in, which makes that movie an adventure. Hopefully come out of it in one piece, sometimes not, remember Churulli, Audience is still working out whether there was an alien...:)
