We returned 2 canon mark 3s due to the auto focus. We thought the first one we bought was just a faulty one but the second one did the same. The camera shop tested both and couldn’t believe how bad the auto focus was. We ended up swapping it for another mark2.
Great review, I'll stick to the Mark ii. Like you said as a back up camera you don't want issues with 4K & Auto focus. Maybe if they update the firmware soon but until then the Mark ii is the best choice. Thanks for the upload!
Great review on Mark III and thanks for the honest opinions on the pluses and minuses about the camera. I was thinking about buying it but I may hold on for now and improve my skills on Mark II and M50 :-)
*I think I may have found a solution to the focus issues. Set the camera to macro mode and leave it there, even if you aren't shooting a macro. It will still be able to focus far away and normally, but seems to pop to focus to my face easier. Give it a try. It seems to be working for me but hopefullly Canon updates the firmware soon to fix the issue*
I agree since I just tested out my G7 x Mark II in a trip to Europe and it worked well. So I may not be upgrading it to Mark III yet as I already spent $649 and don't have to record in 4K yet. Just my 10 cents.
Mk3 is not worth the Upgrade neither the money from a mk2 imho. All tests ive seen were not very impressive. Af is slower, not reliable as the mk2. See other vids. I love my mk2 and ill Stick with it until they do dual pixel or eye af on a compact. My opinion? Save the money and get the mk2. Better bang for the buck!

Definitely! Especially for those of us with broke Mk IIs.. I'm between just getting a new Mk II or mayyyyybe trying a Sony Rx100. Do you really think the color is much worse? I've tried them out side by side in Best Buy and definitely got that impression, but I don't know how it would be at home. I just love Canon and wish they could get it together 😆
yes, mine broke as well and I held out for the iii. Bought it, hated it (and that's saying a lot cuz I LOVED the the ii) so I returned it and bought another ii. The autofocus is truly terrible!

Hi Alicia, My wife is a starter in vlogging and I am conviniently handed over to chose a vlogging camera for her with good sound quality. Was checking out g7x mk2 and it fits all but an external focus mic connector. Was thinking of mk3 and looks like it should fit the needs if the af programming feature is patch provided down the line. Did you happen to hear back on your query from Canon. Loved your review by the way. It's a no nonsense, crisp and direct view. Value of time
This is THE BEST hands-on review of the G7X MIII I have seen (and I've seen alot lol)! This camera is such a disappointment. It sounded so amazing on paper but once everyone got their hands on it and found out Canon crippled alot of the "upgrades" it really opened my eyes to how truly "perfect" the MARK II really was, at least for my video needs. I'm going to stick with my Mark II and for any slow-mo shots I'll just whip out my GOPRO (it's so tiny I don't mind carrying it around in my pocket for backup & B-Roll). Btw, your daughter is super adorable and so polite!! ☺

Thanks for the video, Alysha. I feel the same way you do. I'm very conflicted. The mic input is a game changer. Yes, onboard mic isn't bad but not being able to have clean audio from a distance means I have to travel with another camera. Mine gave me the overheat sign in 4k at 3 minutes. That sucks. But honestly that doesn't make it worse than the mark 2...and least with this one I can get 3 minutes of 4k clips. Not enough but more than nothing which is what the mark 2 had. Regarding the 120, I played with it last night for about 30 minutes. Now I know what to expect, I actually like the implementation alot better than the gh5. At least with the canon, you have AF to set up the shot (if not while recording.) So you tap, press the shutter to focus (which when not recording is blazing fast), and hit record. With the gh5, you have no AF at all so you have to manually focus which takes forever (it also disables IBIS and audio.) The gh5 is sharper in 120 but it's also a much bigger camera and doesn't have the canon colors. I also like little things better like it will record for 30 minutes at 1080/60 vs 17 minutes with the Mark 2. It's honestly a pretty incredible, powerful camera and everyone is dumping on it (rightfully) because the continuous AF is so slow. Such a stupid mistake to make. Sony isn't a solution for me because the lens isn't fast enough for shooting indoors and the menu's confuse the crap out of me. Honestly, sometimes I wonder if these camera companies just aren't interested in winning this game. I do not understand all these self inflicted limitations. Thank you for a great video. I’m going to hold on to my money for now since the G7X3 just ain’t ready for Prime Time. Auto Focus is just too important. We all want our cameras to make imaging miracles and frankly most of them (higher end)deliver! In any event when it come to Alicia, she always delivers! So glad you covered these issues. Hate the focus problems especially in 120. I got overheating in 4K after 15 minutes of recording. Then I was forced back to 1080. 🤒 Let me add that there are more issues. You probably saw that when you fire up 4K you get a message that ISO is limited. Yeah, they gate ISO in 4K. Why? Finally, this camera sports a new raw format, CR3. That is not supported in adobe and forces you to use Canon Utility to convert to TIF before you get images into Lightroom. Bleh! I spoke with Canon support today. They acknowledged the overheating and the autofocus problems. They said they are investigating the problems. I believe they can fix the autofocus issues. But fear the overheating may require a redesign or possibly crop to make it work.
Oh geez the plot thickens! Thanks for the info and insight. It's amazing what comes up once it's actually in users hands. I don't see how this AF issue is 'news' to them.. That CR3 situation sounds terrible too. It's just a huge bummer, all of it!
I thought cannon has option for "unlimited focus" that primarily built for shooting landscape, so I think its also good for shooting slow motion as everything will be on focus, I know this will sacrifice bit of quality but makes the video looks better than blurry on the right moment.

For your wireless Rode transmitter, an easy fix is to buy some black velcro tape and use that to easily fix the transmitter to the camera side, so it is easy to firmly attach when needed.

Maybe once they push a couple firmware updates we'll revisit, but for me, that lack of 24fps is a real killer. I love shooting at 24fps! Thank you so much for your videos! Wow, just wow. Canon has been in the business long enough to know better than this. My heart sunk watching your finidings, what is up with Canon letting something like this go to market? I have the same focus issues with the Mk2, plenty clips cussing in the background because it won't focus, waving hand in front of it, af box around my face, still no, turn it off then back on....it focuses. The limitiations on 120 fps are simply rediculous. I have none of these issues with my tiny insta360 which I routinely film at 3.7k 100 fps. I can tell in the overall quality of this video that your mk2 vids look better, clearer...sharper, better color.. or is it just me? Thanks Bobby! Have you programmed your face into the face ID settings on the Mark II? I really think that helped mine and I was never overly annoyed with its AF after I did that. It's truly crazy that Canon let this come to market! I would have been much happier with the G7x MK II EXACTLY.... with the audio input. I really don't get the box around the face with no real focusing going on. All of the other features don't matter if it can't even focus. Ugh, seriously a disappointment. Oh well!

Yes I shoot with facial recog 'on' and it usually helps, but if I'm in manual mode I like to 'rack' the focus and many times it just won't focus back on me even after trying to rack back. If I shoot in regular video mode (not full auto) with AF on is where most of the focus problem is. Many times if I power off, then restart, the AF works great again, lol. Oh well, I'm dealing with it, cheers! :)
depend what you want to use it for. a6400 is good if youre willing to buy extra lens no stabilization, zv1 is like g7x but zv1 has faster autofocus but average stabilization.

I'm with you! I was so so SOOOOO excited for the Mark iii... bought it and the auto focus was so bad... it would hardly track my toddler and my talking head shots were out of focus. Then I also couldn't find the 120 and when cannon told me where to find it, then I saw it has no IS. CANON? I'm a HUGE fan, but you're standing on shaky ground! I send the camera back and ordered and older mark ii again.

Got one the day it came out, been using it on a daily basis. Never had autofocus problem in broad daylight in 1080. Night time is... well, everyone suffers, rolling my eyes
That's the question of the month for sure! Personally, I would return the Mark III until we know for sure that an update will be released, AND that it will actually fix the issues. Once that return window is gone it's gone.. Now, whether to grab the Mk II is the question. If you're ok with the lack of an audio input then I'd say yes, go for it. It's really the only much-needed thing on the Mark III. Good luck!

Great review! Question. What is the max iso you can shoot video at? The mark ii would go to 3200 iso in 60fps but switching to 24fps would allow you to shoot at iso 6400. Not that 24p is removed, I'm very curious if the iso can go that high or not
I love my gx7ii and also was so excited for the mark iii. But after I bought the iii the auto focus was so bad I had to return it. Hope they can fix it, as I really want the mic input and 4K.
Thanks for keeping things real! Was really looking forward to this camera, but after playing with it for a little over a week now I think it's going back. Autofocus is terrible and the over heating issue is just ridiculous. It's a shame too, as I LOVE the fast lens, ND filter, the form factor, touch screen menu and the overall image quality. But without reliable autofocus all that is useless to me. Canon really missed the mark with this one IMHO.
Thanks!! In a nutshell.. the G7x MkII has better autofocus.. but the MkIII allows you to record audio with an external mic, so it's only better for vlogging, but not really because the AF sucks. The Mk II is great for photos but the audio sucks.. I wish Canon would make a new one already! Hi Ale! It’s really hard to say.. but if I had to take a guess I’d say no. Canon hasn’t even shared an update about it or addressed the issue to begin with. I think if they were confident they could fix it they’d be at least building hype about it.. I dunno. I sure hope it works but we will just have to wait and see. Are you a G7x iii owner with focus issues as well?
Not yet... I was about to buy it by the end of this week. The thing is: it is a very good camera.. and a lot more confortable than the Canon M50 for travelig.. :(
Great review. Mine overheated at 7:30 minute mark and wouldn’t let me start another 4K video for 10 minutes. Another this I noticed is I shot an entire clip in vertical mode with out even knowing. No indication on the camera that it was in vertical mode.....odd
I noticed one of my fave vloggers got the new G7x, and the focus is terrible! And I didn't know there were issues with that yet. He was just doing a normal vlog, but I was super distracted by the weird focus...adjusting back and forth and out of focus. Blah. I'm just starting and have only used my iphone so far. Thinking I'll stick with that for now.

The problem with autofocus in video is so disappointing to hear. I've been struggling with the autofocus with my Panasonic G85, and there is no way I'd buy another camera with the same issue. It's just too frustrating. To be honest, even when your video was in focus during this review, it still looked slightly fuzzy and out of focus to me. By the way, a suggestion for your review would be to do a test of the internal microphone in a regular more noisy urban environment. I was curious to hear what the internal mic sounded like, and it sounded fine down by that perfectly quiet lake. However, I would rarely be in a quiet setting like that. I am normally on noisy city streets or other places with other ambient noise (airports, trains, etc), and I'd need to hear how the mic performs in those settings to really be able to judge the camera. Thanks for your input! Yes the AF never did quite work in this one. I didn't even realize how bad it was until I edited the video! I wouldn't recommend using the internal audio when you have the option of a mic jack because this camera is notorious for the grinding noise the internal mic will pick up when it's trying to focus.. I probably would have gone on to do better audio tests with various mics but the AF was so terrible on this camera I had to return it 😏Maybe next time!
Great recap... the auto focus of this camera is becoming very annoying the more I use it on scene of incidents an doing interviews. A lot more work on the back end to crop out portions of incidents.
I noticed the focus slip looking at the back of your bairn. So I won’t rush to buy one. I sold my G7X Mk II to get a 4K LX15 which also has atrocious autofocus, but easy SloMo.
Is there a difference in the AF performance in 1080p and 4k? Most well known and well established UA-camrs always shoot in 4k. I'd love to know if 1080p is better. Also, for 120fps, I suggest you manually focus to infinity and see if it's clearer? Also, can you manually adjust the aperture in 120fps?
Ugh I totally feel you. Do you make vlogs or more sit down videos? The solution I used for sit down videos on the Mk II was recording audio externally and syncing it. I have a few videos on it if that helps 😏
Do you think that they will update AF firmware by any chance? I just preordered mine for a special price of 177$ NZD off on special.... was happy, but now I'm not so sure anymore...
That's the big question for sure!! I would imagine they will, but it's a matter of when. Also who knows if it can actually fix the issues. You would think they were well aware of the AF troubles before the camera was released, and if they were able to fix it they would have... But I don't really know. I'll definitely do an update on the channel if I can find anything out! At least you got a good price on it :)

I did some testing with this camera too and published here on youtube. I eventually returned it to the store. I can't recommend this camera because of the poor focus.
@@AMAETV It's mentioned in a support reply from Canon USA Imaging on their Twitter account. As far as I know it's not announced officially to the masses, but it does appear they're working on an update to the AF system. Here is the link. Hopefully they will be able to address it sufficiently through firmware. Even a partial improvement would be nice to see. the audio idea for filming the family is a wonderful idea, thanks for sharing...... and for costing me 200 pounds in rode gear lol! I was also looking to pick this camera up, but after all the videos talking about its faults, I think I'll stick with my mk 2 and use external audio recorders when needed. I also shoot travel vlogs with my family, great video!

Honesty matters so I subscribed. I have the g7x mark ii. Unfortunately I bought it 3 months before this new camera came out.. Sadly I dont know how too professionally use cameras and I dont know what editing software that I can learn on. I've been using my phone. I want too learn so bad its driving me insane how too use cameras properly..

wow thanks for you review. It seems like there are a lot issue on mark III . I have the mark II and i have not really use it because when I record my daughter for her YT account when I use the regular camera I am always having a hard time to edit it on the laptop. So I always tend to record my daughter from my pixel phone. Its easier to edit the vlog. Do you have any suggestion on what program I can use on my laptop for easier edit? Your input is very valuable to me. Thank you.
I'm so glad you found it all helpful! If you're using an Apple computer then definitely try iMovie . Otherwise some you could look into are Adobe Spark and Filmora. I use Final Cut Pro and although it may be harder to learn it's a breeze once you know it. You should have your daughter start learning to edit herself 😀
Have you had a chance to review any low light level footage? It has got to beat carrying a DSLR around (I don't think my Canon 200D has great low light level)
That autofocus is horrendously unreliable. It makes the absurd price of the latest Sony equivalent, which also finally has a Mic input, more palatable.
That is great video I do have the sony a7mark3 but iam thinking 🤔 to buy smaller one I need it sometimes so that canon g7x mark3 it look good camera 📷. Is it great for photos?
I'd absolutely recommend a traditional camcorder for that. Cameras aren't designed to shoot long clips and I think you'd be much happier with something created precisely for your needs 👍🏼

Looks like the G5XII has a little better autofocus and longer record time without overheating. No mic input but could be something to check out.

This is THE BEST hands-on review of the G7X MIII I have seen (and I've seen alot lol)! This camera is such a disappointment. It sounded so amazing on paper but once everyone got their hands on it and found out Canon crippled alot of the "upgrades" it really opened my eyes to how truly "perfect" the MARK II really was, at least for my video needs. I'm going to stick with my Mark II and for any slow-mo shots I'll just whip out my GOPRO (it's so tiny I don't mind carrying it around in my pocket for backup & B-Roll).

The mic input is a game changer. Yes, onboard mic isn't bad but not being able to have clean audio from a distance means I have to travel with another camera.
Mine gave me the overheat sign in 4k at 3 minutes. That sucks. But honestly that doesn't make it worse than the mark 2...and least with this one I can get 3 minutes of 4k clips. Not enough but more than nothing which is what the mark 2 had.
Regarding the 120, I played with it last night for about 30 minutes. Now I know what to expect, I actually like the implementation alot better than the gh5. At least with the canon, you have AF to set up the shot (if not while recording.) So you tap, press the shutter to focus (which when not recording is blazing fast), and hit record. With the gh5, you have no AF at all so you have to manually focus which takes forever (it also disables IBIS and audio.) The gh5 is sharper in 120 but it's also a much bigger camera and doesn't have the canon colors.
I also like little things better like it will record for 30 minutes at 1080/60 vs 17 minutes with the Mark 2.
It's honestly a pretty incredible, powerful camera and everyone is dumping on it (rightfully) because the continuous AF is so slow. Such a stupid mistake to make. Sony isn't a solution for me because the lens isn't fast enough for shooting indoors and the menu's confuse the crap out of me.
Honestly, sometimes I wonder if these camera companies just aren't interested in winning this game. I do not understand all these self inflicted limitations.

I’m going to hold on to my money for now since the G7X3 just ain’t ready for Prime Time. Auto Focus is just too important. We all want our cameras to make imaging miracles and frankly most of them (higher end)deliver! In any event when it come to Alicia, she always delivers! So glad you covered these issues. Hate the focus problems especially in 120. I got overheating in 4K after 15 minutes of recording. Then I was forced back to 1080. 🤒
Let me add that there are more issues. You probably saw that when you fire up 4K you get a message that ISO is limited. Yeah, they gate ISO in 4K. Why?
Finally, this camera sports a new raw format, CR3. That is not supported in adobe and forces you to use Canon Utility to convert to TIF before you get images into Lightroom. Bleh!
I spoke with Canon support today. They acknowledged the overheating and the autofocus problems. They said they are investigating the problems. I believe they can fix the autofocus issues. But fear the overheating may require a redesign or possibly crop to make it work.
Oh geez the plot thickens! Thanks for the info and insight. It's amazing what comes up once it's actually in users hands. I don't see how this AF issue is 'news' to them.. That CR3 situation sounds terrible too. It's just a huge bummer, all of it!

I thought cannon has option for "unlimited focus" that primarily built for shooting landscape, so I think its also good for shooting slow motion as everything will be on focus, I know this will sacrifice bit of quality but makes the video looks better than blurry on the right moment.

For your wireless Rode transmitter, an easy fix is to buy some black velcro tape and use that to easily fix the transmitter to the camera side, so it is easy to firmly attach when needed.

Wow, just wow. Canon has been in the business long enough to know better than this. My heart sunk watching your finidings, what is up with Canon letting something like this go to market? I have the same focus issues with the Mk2, plenty clips cussing in the background because it won't focus, waving hand in front of it, af box around my face, still no, turn it off then back on....it focuses. The limitiations on 120 fps are simply rediculous. I have none of these issues with my tiny insta360 which I routinely film at 3.7k 100 fps. I can tell in the overall quality of this video that your mk2 vids look better, clearer...sharper, better color.. or is it just me? Thanks Bobby! Have you programmed your face into the face ID settings on the Mark II? I really think that helped mine and I was never overly annoyed with its AF after I did that. It's truly crazy that Canon let this come to market! I would have been much happier with the G7x MK II EXACTLY.... with the audio input. I really don't get the box around the face with no real focusing going on. All of the other features don't matter if it can't even focus. Ugh, seriously a disappointment. Oh well!

Yes I shoot with facial recog 'on' and it usually helps, but if I'm in manual mode I like to 'rack' the focus and many times it just won't focus back on me even after trying to rack back. If I shoot in regular video mode (not full auto) with AF on is where most of the focus problem is. Many times if I power off, then restart, the AF works great again, lol. Oh well, I'm dealing with it, cheers! :)

depend what you want to use it for. a6400 is good if youre willing to buy extra lens no stabilization, zv1 is like g7x but zv1 has faster autofocus but average stabilization.

I'm with you! I was so so SOOOOO excited for the Mark iii... bought it and the auto focus was so bad... it would hardly track my toddler and my talking head shots were out of focus. Then I also couldn't find the 120 and when cannon told me where to find it, then I saw it has no IS. CANON? I'm a HUGE fan, but you're standing on shaky ground! I send the camera back and ordered and older mark ii again.
Haha nice. The Mark II really is where it’s at! Toddlers are difficult enough to keep still for focus. We need something better!

That's the question of the month for sure! Personally, I would return the Mark III until we know for sure that an update will be released, AND that it will actually fix the issues. Once that return window is gone it's gone.. Now, whether to grab the Mk II is the question. If you're ok with the lack of an audio input then I'd say yes, go for it. It's really the only much-needed thing on the Mark III. Good luck!

Great review! Question. What is the max iso you can shoot video at? The mark ii would go to 3200 iso in 60fps but switching to 24fps would allow you to shoot at iso 6400. Not that 24p is removed, I'm very curious if the iso can go that high or not

I think Alicia gave an excellent tip on registering a face in the Auto Focus ID, and I will do some more research on it as well (for Mark III).
I love my gx7ii and also was so excited for the mark iii. But after I bought the iii the auto focus was so bad I had to return it. Hope they can fix it, as I really want the mic input and 4K.

Thanks for keeping things real! Was really looking forward to this camera, but after playing with it for a little over a week now I think it's going back. Autofocus is terrible and the over heating issue is just ridiculous. It's a shame too, as I LOVE the fast lens, ND filter, the form factor, touch screen menu and the overall image quality. But without reliable autofocus all that is useless to me. Canon really missed the mark with this one IMHO.

Thanks!! In a nutshell.. the G7x MkII has better autofocus.. but the MkIII allows you to record audio with an external mic, so it's only better for vlogging, but not really because the AF sucks. The Mk II is great for photos but the audio sucks.. I wish Canon would make a new one already! Hi Ale! It’s really hard to say.. but if I had to take a guess I’d say no. Canon hasn’t even shared an update about it or addressed the issue to begin with. I think if they were confident they could fix it they’d be at least building hype about it.. I dunno. I sure hope it works but we will just have to wait and see. Are you a G7x iii owner with focus issues as well?

Great review. Mine overheated at 7:30 minute mark and wouldn’t let me start another 4K video for 10 minutes. Another this I noticed is I shot an entire clip in vertical mode with out even knowing. No indication on the camera that it was in vertical mode.....odd
Same problem with the autofocus and it did overheated a view times at 4K

I noticed one of my fave vloggers got the new G7x, and the focus is terrible! And I didn't know there were issues with that yet. He was just doing a normal vlog, but I was super distracted by the weird focus...adjusting back and forth and out of focus. Blah. I'm just starting and have only used my iphone so far. Thinking I'll stick with that for now.

You'd be surprised how hard it is to find a video on the camera that tells you if it has manual override on video exposure. Nobody mentions it.
The problem with autofocus in video is so disappointing to hear. I've been struggling with the autofocus with my Panasonic G85, and there is no way I'd buy another camera with the same issue. It's just too frustrating.
To be honest, even when your video was in focus during this review, it still looked slightly fuzzy and out of focus to me.
By the way, a suggestion for your review would be to do a test of the internal microphone in a regular more noisy urban environment. I was curious to hear what the internal mic sounded like, and it sounded fine down by that perfectly quiet lake. However, I would rarely be in a quiet setting like that. I am normally on noisy city streets or other places with other ambient noise (airports, trains, etc), and I'd need to hear how the mic performs in those settings to really be able to judge the camera.

Thanks for your input! Yes the AF never did quite work in this one. I didn't even realize how bad it was until I edited the video!
I wouldn't recommend using the internal audio when you have the option of a mic jack because this camera is notorious for the grinding noise the internal mic will pick up when it's trying to focus.. I probably would have gone on to do better audio tests with various mics but the AF was so terrible on this camera I had to return it 😏Maybe next time!
Could the AF issues be fixed with a firmware update? Or did they implement a new system in this one?
It seems that a firmware update is coming sometime in October- says Canon. Hopefully this will help the problem!

Great recap... the auto focus of this camera is becoming very annoying the more I use it on scene of incidents an doing interviews. A lot more work on the back end to crop out portions of incidents.
Yes I bet! Lots of editing based solely on whether or not things are in focus- and it shouldn't be that way.

I noticed the focus slip looking at the back of your bairn. So I won’t rush to buy one. I sold my G7X Mk II to get a 4K LX15 which also has atrocious autofocus, but easy SloMo.
Yep if you watch the video on a full screen you'll see at least half of it isn't in focus. So sad! You'll have to get that Mark II back :)

Is there a difference in the AF performance in 1080p and 4k? Most well known and well established UA-camrs always shoot in 4k. I'd love to know if 1080p is better.
Also, for 120fps, I suggest you manually focus to infinity and see if it's clearer? Also, can you manually adjust the aperture in 120fps?
For what it's worth, I haven't found the af to be better in either setting.
You can adjust any of the exposure settings if you are in manual mode.

Ugh I totally feel you. Do you make vlogs or more sit down videos? The solution I used for sit down videos on the Mk II was recording audio externally and syncing it. I have a few videos on it if that helps 😏
Do you think that they will update AF firmware by any chance? I just preordered mine for a special price of 177$ NZD off on special.... was happy, but now I'm not so sure anymore...
That's the big question for sure!! I would imagine they will, but it's a matter of when. Also who knows if it can actually fix the issues. You would think they were well aware of the AF troubles before the camera was released, and if they were able to fix it they would have... But I don't really know. I'll definitely do an update on the channel if I can find anything out! At least you got a good price on it :)

I did some testing with this camera too and published here on youtube. I eventually returned it to the store. I can't recommend this camera because of the poor focus.
I see Canon says they are working on a "fix" for the autofocus. They can only do so much through firmware upgrades though.

@@AMAETV It's mentioned in a support reply from Canon USA Imaging on their Twitter account. As far as I know it's not announced officially to the masses, but it does appear they're working on an update to the AF system. Here is the link. Hopefully they will be able to address it sufficiently through firmware. Even a partial improvement would be nice to see. It's very sluggish sometimes.

the audio idea for filming the family is a wonderful idea, thanks for sharing...... and for costing me 200 pounds in rode gear lol! I was also looking to pick this camera up, but after all the videos talking about its faults, I think I'll stick with my mk 2 and use external audio recorders when needed. I also shoot travel vlogs with my family, great video!

Honesty matters so I subscribed. I have the g7x mark ii. Unfortunately I bought it 3 months before this new camera came out.. Sadly I dont know how too professionally use cameras and I dont know what editing software that I can learn on. I've been using my phone. wow thanks for you review. It seems like there are a lot issue on mark III . I have the mark II and i have not really use it because when I record my daughter for her YT account when I use the regular camera I am always having a hard time to edit it on the laptop. So I always tend to record my daughter from my pixel phone. Its easier to edit the vlog. Do you have any suggestion on what program I can use on my laptop for easier edit? Your input is very valuable to me. Thank you.
I'm so glad you found it all helpful! If you're using an Apple computer then definitely try iMovie . Otherwise some you could look into are Adobe Spark and Filmora. I use Final Cut Pro and although it may be harder to learn it's a breeze once you know it. You should have your daughter start learning to edit herself 😀

Have you had a chance to review any low light level footage? It has got to beat carrying a DSLR around (I don't think my Canon 200D has great low light level)
That autofocus is horrendously unreliable.
It makes the absurd price of the latest Sony equivalent, which also finally has a Mic input, more palatable.

Yes it's good for photos, but I think the G7x Mark II is better for photos with its better autofocus

I'd absolutely recommend a traditional camcorder for that. Cameras aren't designed to shoot long clips and I think you'd be much happier with something created precisely for your needs 👍🏼
