Today I’m going to tell you about the Canon G7 X Mark III and help you decide whether it’s a good value. #Canon put together some good specs and features like 4k video, a stacked 1” CMOS sensor, a flip touchscreen, external mic input, built-in ND filter, and a great lens. But does this camera actually deliver on the promise it makes?
I’m going to talk about the good and the bad of the #g7xmarkiii, I’ll tell you what I liked and what I didn’t like. What’s the story with overheating and really Canon, no dual pixel autofocus?
I’ll talk about other features like timelapse, discuss the ergonomics of the Canon #g7xmkiii as well as the battery life and some frustrations I had with this camera.

What's up everyone?! I hope this review of the Canon G7 X Mark III was helpful. Did you like it? When I heard the specs, I was super excited to try this camera out, but some of the implementation and limitations were super disappointing. What did you think?
Was there too much detail? Not enough? What did you like, and also, what did you not like? What would you like to see more of? Would love to know what you think, good or bad. I am grateful in advance 🙏
How does this compare to the m50? Will there be a new replacement for m50?
I do believe there is a replacement to the M50 coming. I have that video in the works (comparison)
@@TechGearTalk I hope it's gonna be good coz I've holding up for it
Should be!
What's your thought about Lumix G95??
Watched many videos on this camera and this was far and away the very best review out there, thank you so much. Stuff like this takes a lot of time and effort to put together so really grateful. Many thanks once again.
This is the best non-biased review of the GX7 MKIII I have seen so far. Thank you.
Thank you for watching and for the kind words. Super glad it was helpful.
@@TechGearTalk My biggest issue with the MKIII was the autofocus, but this seems to be sorted with a firmware update. I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to more reviews.
With the 1.3 firmware upgrade it solved the autofocus to a very large extend. It ads a special vlog mode as a video option. Works very well actually
What is the link please?
The auto focus is absolutely brutal.
Hey mate, your ability to describe, explain analyse is first rate. I plan to come via your channel regularly to see what else you have looked at. Really great content and delivery!
I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and for the super kind words. Thank you for joining the community 🙏 Have a great weekend!
I had the first version of the G7X and loved it. I purchased the Mark III just for the mic input. I'm using Roland binaural mics and am very pleased with the sound. I agree with you on the focus issue. It takes a few seconds to adjust and I don't like that part. I have to pan super slow. Thanks for reviewing it.
Solid review, that mentioned things that I haven't seen in other reviews. Thanks.
Glad it was useful Andre - appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback!
A very comprehensive review! I have the Mark II and am thinking of upgrading to the Mark III because of the mic input and hdmi. Did the firmware fix the focus issue?
I just bought the mark II and I'm still glad I did.
Your reviews are the best…thank you!
I was using the G7X Mark II and upgraded to the M50. I really missed the portability of the camera and mainly went with the M50 for use of the external mic. Now I just may go to the Mark III for when I am out and about! Great review as always!
That makes sense to me Steven, you'll have that portability plus the improved audio!
Thanks for the great review. I was one of those who anxiously waited for this camera release. Upon learning that there is no dual-pixel AF, I switched my interest to the M100 as a compact camera for travel. Granted, this is not as compact as the G7X, but it gets close to point-and-shoot size with the 22mm pancake lens. And if needed, I can use another lens since it's an ILC. So I traded off the size for the AF and APS-C sensor.
There's no EVF on M100 but that is the same with G7X. The buttons and dials are kept to a minimum, but Canon's interface is so intuitive that it's extremely simple to change aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and exposure compensation. All on the touch screen. Even with the recent M200 release with the eye AF and 4K features, I'm still happy with my M100 for what it brings, which I bought used since it's been out for a while now. That's another bonus in terms of price.
Super appreciate you sharing your process with the community. Very helpful. 🙏🏻
Great review. Did the firmware update add dual pixel or some other fix for bad AF?
Thanks! It improved the AF for sure, but I don't believe you can add DPAF with software.
@@TechGearTalk Bummer! A Canon machine without DP is like a bad dream
Definitely better with
thank you for doing this videos, now i can decide on what to buy in terms of compact cam
I loved the test shots thrown in! Quite the eye.
Thanks so much Phil - grateful 🙏
What an amazing review. Thank you so much for this detailed review!! I had no idea that there was another video option instead of 4k. I am debating on getting this camera or the Sony zv-1 for a lot of traveling and special events I plan to attend this year. Thank you for such a wonderful video and your honesty!
I've had my G7 X III for a week and am very happy with it!
Great review! I'm quite new to this area but have been looking into the g5x mark ii vs the g7x mark iii. My gf and I are looking to both use it, but our needs are a bit different. She will be using it more for still photography of scenes, food, and general means (but not of herself/people so much). Meanwhile I'm more into video along with using it as a stream cam as well. Would you recommend one over the other? Or another option altogether in the compact area? The sony rx100 vii is amazing too but a bit too pricey..
How did it work? Has the AF problem been fixed with the 1.3 firmware update? I'm deciding whether to buy the Mark II or the Mark III.
Great video. I think I'm gonna go head get the M50. Thank u for the review.
Thank you Tina. I completely understand that decision. Let me know if you have any questions.
This was a really useful review. I'm sending myself insane debating between the G7X MkIII, the M50 or M6 MkII. I'm after a compact, but powerful camera for travel/landscape/night/concerts (in a world when we can do all these things again). Previously a Canon Powershot user, about a year ago I bought a Lumix DC-FZ82, for a bigger, better camera but while the image quality is great, it's too heavy and cumbersome and so complex to use.. so I'm looking to refer back to Canon. What's your favourite between those three?
The new Canon R8. Check it out if you're still in the market for something like this.
Great review. Question: I'm in between to getting this MK III vs MK II. Almost get the MK II because of the MK III AF issue, but now I heard the AF have improved after firmware update? What's your opinion? Is it better to get this new MK III or the older version MK II? (It's mainly for vlogging).
Thank you for the support and for joining the community. Yes, the AF was corrected and I would definitely recommend going with the mk iii. Hope this is helpful.
@@TechGearTalk Great! Thanks for the response. Appreciate it 😊
Glad I could help 🙏🏻
@@TechGearTalk how do you record in 1080 for over an hour, when the camera has a 30 min time limit
- I'm confused. You mentioned it at ua-cam.com/video/Hd68_SvjL60/v-deo.html
I think I answered this somewhere else. i was referencing the overheating, I recorded for 30 minutes (it stopped) started recording again for 30 minutes (stopped again) started recording again (this was an overheating test). If you have an external recorder, you can record for much longer because the camera isn't really "recording" just passing the signal.
Great video man, thanks! I am still hesitating between the mark ii and mark iii though, as I am mainly interested in having a good pocket camera that I could have with me all the time to shoot pictures and videos. However, I am not interested in recording myself as I don't do vlog. In that case, is the AF such on issue? Is the mark ii enough? Thanks
The mark ii has been "enough" for years. The mark iii auto focus was fixed with the last upgrades, but if you are sure you won't want to record better audio, and don't need the latest processor and features, grab a mark ii. What's the price difference?
Have you tried the autofocus after the latest firmware upgrade? Is it as good as the autofocus on the G7x mark II after upgrading the firmware?
Hello, great review, thanks. I'm interested in buying this camera for travelling and occasional street photography. So my question is - in the aperture mode, can you adjust the minimum shutter speed limit while using the AUTO ISO mode? I own two Canon R6 and these cameras are capable of doing so (of course they are). Thanks for the answer.
Amazing review, thank you. 💖💖
I think I will buy it
Glad I could help! 👍
With firmware 1.3 the AF is quite ok. I purchased this camera for my Dad, and now I want this one for myself. Low light images are surprisingly good and so is the dynamic range and image quality in general. Perfect for kids events-indoor gig, prize giving, graduation, etc. If you think about it, what is an alternative that has a built-in ND filter, stabilisation, 24-100 f1.8-2.4? All of that in a truly portable package. :)
I recently bought a used G7X II for $200 for my wife. I was planning to get a ZV-1 for myself as I do videos alot. But I was so impressed by G7X II that I got a G7X III for myself. 😂
Great video. Quick couple of questions when comparing this to the Sony RX100 VII. Which can produce better shallow bokeh? Which would be your pick for vlogging (gaming/travel/cooking)? Thanks!
Thanks! The Sony RX100VII is the most powerful compact camera I've ever used. ua-cam.com/video/piVizzzImEU/v-deo.html It's almost twice the price, so if that's not an issue, and you want a compact camera, that's the one to use. Better auto focus, better 4k, slow motion with autofocus, better in low light. Hope this helps. Welcome to the channel!
Thanks for this review. I am thinking about getting the Mark iii. Can you help me though, I am still new at the camera gear. I am a tech UA-camr and I use a M50 to shoot videos at one studio. I want a smaller more mobile camera that I can use to shoot tech videos at home for BRoll or family videos. I have been using my iPhone 11 Pro for this currently. Do you recommend the Mark iii for this? Or do you recommend a different camera?
Hi Juan, thanks for watching. Since you're already familiar with the M50, why not get the same setup for home/broll. I know it's a little bigger, but there is a real advantage as far as the process goes. Otherwise, yes, this camera is a good compact solution. I hope this helps.
@@TechGearTalk Thanks for getting back with me. It gives me something to think about. I checked out a couple of your other videos, it looks like you are also an Ohioan? Again, thanks for the advice.
You're welcome, glad I could help. Yup, I'm up in CLE, you?
@@TechGearTalk Nice! I am not too far. I am in Mt.Vernon, a couple hours away. If you ever do tech collabs let me know. My channel isn't as big as yours but it's growing. I am averaging 300 new subs a week now.
Oh cool. Good work on the channel!
I bought this camera and had to return it. 4K overheating. Super slow autofocus. Powering the camera for Livestream doesn’t work with a standard USB C. Didn’t perform as advertised. Really unfortunate, I was so excited to get this camera.
Appreciate all the first-hand insight. I was really hoping for a great travel cam.
Does it only overheat when shooting 4k only?
@@meekou86 Yeah
It has to be a strong voltage USB C, like a MacBook charger
@TechGearTalk have you retested this camera since the latest firmware updates? I would be curious of your feedback of the improvements. I think they at least added 24fps mode?
I sold my 7D and bought the M50 because it is easier to travel with. It is a stunning piece of kit at the price. Added a nifty 50, 22mm and 18-150 plus 470AI speed light. Would think in most cases this would still be a better option than G7 X II.
Thanks for sharing your experience Ken. I love the M50 for sure.
Excellent review as always! Having tough time deciding G7xiii or M50..
As a beginner, who primarily will be using this for vlogging and at present time not interested in 4k as my Pc prob to old to handle the processing. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
If this camera had dual pixel auto focus it would be an amazing vlogging. It’s the only thing making lean towards the larger m50. But if portability is a priority...
Good video, very thorough as usual. The photos look great, but I don’t know why Canon has been removing 24p video from its mid to lower end cameras. Seems arbitrary, but if there’s a strategy behind it I would like to know it.
I'm curious to know how many people would not get this camera because of that feature. I edit in 30fps, so for me it's not a big deal. But like you said, seems silly to remove it - unless there is big picture reason we don't know about.
Very good review as usual
Thank you so much for the kind words 🙏
Hi! Do you think this is a good cheaper alternative for m6 mii in terms of travel photography (particularly because of the built-in lens)? Or is the m6 mii still a better camera? I don’t own any dslr & wish better photo than my iPhone.
Hi. Well, the m6mkii is a better camera all around, but the g7xmkiii is SO SMALL that it's really easy to take it with you. If you want the best quality -> m6mkII, most portable->g7xmkiii I hope this makes sense.
Currently on the hunt for the best budget camera right now and your videos are making me crazy because of how much detail you put into these videos and every video I watch, you're making me change my mind. Help me choose pls.
1. Canon M50
2. Canon M6
3. G7X ii
4. Fuji XT100
I am not an outdoor vlogger, I just want a camera that is cheap but has good image quality. I know the M50 is an obvious choice but it would decimate my budget and my christmas plans 😂😂😂
great review, this camera should always be on my pocket hmmm, I think I need one
Appreciate the feedback brother - glad you liked it!
A bit late but I just bought one, I have a few cameras including drone cameras, disappointed that the volume isn't shown on the screen when recording 4K and my M50 is the same, you just don't know if your wireless system is actually working until you play back. Also the playback volume is quiet and there is no volume control over that. $1,100 here in Australia with a spare battery. The oem charger took 2 hrs to charge one battery and when charged it was quite hot, not a good idea to use till it's cooled down. haven't properly used yet, I like the focus rings ability to change camera perimeters as well with out fiddling with the touch screen. have ordered a screen protector and bag that clips on your belt. Somewhere for my Saramonic transmitter to clip on would be good with out extra attachments, In all it looks to be great. Regards Tony From Australia
A very useful review. THX!
So glad it was helpful. Thank you for being part of the channel!
good review thanks.
Nice informative video. Thanks. I've seen so many disappointments with the camera e.g. limited 4k video length, overheating, poor auto focus and only a flip screen. Canon have missed a trick with this camera. Nothing I've seen changes my mind about buying the M50.
One question I have is are we likely to see a newer version of the M50 anytime soon at or around the M50 price point? Any inside scoop on that?
Cheers. Ray and Sue's Travel Channel.
Thank you for the feedback. We are likely to see an updated m50 (no insight though). I need to check out the m6 mark ii also. The m50 is such a good value.

Hi could you help me out.
What are the best settings for outdoor and wood settings?
Very good review, as always. Those omissions are some real headscratchers. I could deal with the lack of 24fps, but no DPAF... what a miss.
Same. I like the look of 30 which is what I use for my video (still curious about why you would take it out - seems like it could only lose you clients). No DPAF... ummm...
Great video, and info.do have a video on the best mid range priced camera for a beauty creator? I need one that wont overheat after 30 min. Thanks
Thank you Leann - grateful for the feedback. Quick question, do you need to be able to record continuously for more than 30 minutes?
I was eyeing this camera for awhile but the cons make me a bit hesitant.
Do you have any recommendations for a compact travel camera? I’m very interested in mirrorless cameras and I’ve had my eye on the Canon EOS m6 lately. Not sure if there are other recommendations you’d have for someone like me who’s a beginner that’s main focus is photography?
The biggest one (IMO) is the auto focus. What about the M50? ua-cam.com/video/luYV0dTxoWE/v-deo.html
Amazing video sir love the canon cause I wanna shot and make videos for my UA-cam channel !! Thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to leave feedback! It will definitely work for UA-cam.
Very nice video, thank you very much
I wanted to get your opinion about buying it .. because it is available to me used in a very good condition, with the original carton and charger, and its price is 480 US dollars, equivalent to 9000 Egyptian pounds
Is this price appropriate?
Another note I will use in the production of UA-cam videos in different modes
Basically (connecting it with obs program) to make a professional live broadcast
- Secondly, recording videos like the one on my channel now that I shoot with my Honor vieo 20
...
Thank you again for the great content you create
The Sony is nice when it works. I’ve had RX100iii, Rx100iv, and RX100V. No, I got them not because I’m rich and bought a newer model when it came out. I got a newer model because the old one started having problems. Always the flash was the first to stop working because it’s thin and fragile power supply lines broke. Then the autofocus followed. I always set the image quality fairly high, about 10M for each photo on average. The result was excellent even when the images were blown up to fill a 65” TV. Now all the photos I take look good on the camera but grainy on a 17” notebook, looking more like 2M photos. I checked the property of these photos and they all still occupied an average of 10M space each. I really like the overall performance of RX100 series over Canon cameras although I always prefer the color of the Canon. Now I realize that I have to start to argue why I have to buy a new Sony in less than two years. I’m going to get a Canon this time and see if it lasts longer. BTW check out Joe Rogan experience #1245.

glad you enjoyed it Jim. The firmware update helped a ton with the autofocus issue. Thanks for being part of the channel!
Does it overheat while recording 1080p too? Can I use it as web cam recorder constantly if I provide it with constant power charger?

Are you going to be doing a review of Canon G5X II. I would love to see your thoughts on this one. Thanks,
Hi there. I shot it, just need to edit it.
Brilliant presentation, thank you. I’ve now decided that this camera is on my shopping list. Am I right in saying that Canon have overcome the auto focus problem by installing new software on up to date G7 X MK lll cameras?
I should have mentioned that I am more interested in “stills “ than I am in “ video”.

Sorry for the late reply,I’m still looking.
Thank you so much for your information on the G7x Mark 3.

Thanks for the kind words. Glad I could help! 👍
@@TechGearTalk What did the firmware update address ? Oh, and I love how you present everything, the level of detail, etc. The only thing is that the limitations that irritated you didn't mean anything for me as I don't have the same needs. Still, I loved that you presented them.
Overall, terrific channel, gonna watch a lot of your other vids to chose my next camera.
Kudos !
Amazing work, as always.
I honestly didn’t check anything about the G7xiii and waited for you review. And just like you said- I find some of the specs a huge step forward, while others- quite dissapointing. Lack of 24fps and no dual pixel af are really strange ones to me. I was really hoping this camera would be my go to point and shoot, but unfortunately I don’t think it will.
Were all the pictures in the vid taken by the g7xiii?
I'm with you on that - the lack of reliable AF is a deal-breaker for me. Yes, all photos and footage was taken with the g7xiii
@jp Yup, exactly. I wonder if those issues have to do with the target consumers they're aiming to. Is this camera aimed for vloggers? Or maybe for people who want to snap a quick pic? It feels the camera is right somewhere in the middle of these two, but lacking capabilities on either side
Agreed Omry. According to all of their marketing, that is exactly who they are after. But I would think a reliable AF be a top priority. I want to be invited to the product development meetings.
You bring up an interesting point about "informed consumers". Your average person is not going to know about some of these items and may have different expectations. I always understand why companies don't "add" a feature (cost). But I am curious about why they remove one... Especially one that would seem to be software-based rather than hardware-based. (btw - great discussion).
IMO, the DPAF is different because I can see it costing more money to implement. It's still "adding" a feature.
but if a camera can record at 25,30,50,60fps... then the only thing you need is to enable that with software (unless I'm so wrong - at which point, Canon, please tell me).
I have a question. Why if I take a video. There’s a red blink in my camera? I hope you can help me.
Thank you
That’s to show that the video is recording.
Hope you can also review the Sony ZV-1 Camera. Pls make a comparison video with the Canon G7x Mark III as well 😊 thank u!!
Does this have a view finder?? Cannot rely on screen as have to change glasses!!
Would you recommend this camera for newer photographers that travels and takes different types of photos that Varies from portraits to landscaping? I normally use my iPhone but, I’d love a change so I can start my photography career.
If you don’t suggest purchasing this camera what would you recommend getting? I really need it to have good focusing quality
Hi Rachael - if you're looking for something small and portable but still powerful and easy to use, check this out: ua-cam.com/video/Nir8pfvfdFI/v-deo.html
I probably wouldn't use the G7XIII professionally unless I had to. Hope that helps
Hey, Great review. I always struggle to work out where these kind of camera fit in the market! I alway have my phone in my pocket for those moments I don't have my 80d with me! But it might be worth getting one of these to keep in my pocket.
Found you through the #nsc group. Already subbed and look forward to future videos
Thanks so much Gareth - appreciate the kind words. This is an interesting camera to me. If they had just added DPAF it would make more sense because there are definitely thing it can do that a phone can't do (or to be fair, can't do well). What you use it for photos or video? (assuming you'd primarily use the 80d when you're not on the go). This could be a good broll cam.
@@TechGearTalk you are very welcome. I currently take my GoPro hero 7 if I am planning to get video and can't take my 80d with me but it is rubish for photos and the lens is so wide if you use it to close up to things you get a fair bit of warping but it is just so convenient and it does slowmo and 4k that the 80d doesn't but this might be a nice option to be able to get good photos as well!
That makes a lot of sense to me
Battery backup with continuous video recording ?
Mark iii or m50 for. Vlogger?
Depends on what you mean by “continuous video recording” both cameras have a 30 minute internal recording limit. Here is what I do about the battery ua-cam.com/video/TOpsG_jlEbU/v-deo.html g7xiii has a clean hdmi out so technically you could use an external recorder
Nice job👍
Can you tell me if is it possible in Time lapse mode to have slow shutter speed exposure(2 seconds) please ?
Thank you. I believe a 1/30 is the slowest you can go. I don't have the camera anymore and I just tested the new M6MKII which does let you use slower shutter speeds ua-cam.com/video/3Dh2cqok6_o/v-deo.html , the SL2 for example wouldn't.
@@TechGearTalk thanks, i will watch it
also working on review.
What is the microphone sound like when using external mic. (noise floor)
It's not the best I've ever heard but it's not bad. Also, it depends on which mic. If you want better results, get a mic with a +20db boost. Here is a comparison: ua-cam.com/video/hE84RCziiv8/v-deo.html let me know if that makes sense.
The reason I style my mkii is that it's not dust resistant. Lots of fuzz in the lens you can't clean off without drilling holes in the side

Thanks for reminding me and for the Sub! Check now.
Are the sample pictures edited in any way?
I’m deciding between the Mark II and Mark III for vlogging. Do you think the Mark III is worth the extra money?
Hi Chelsea - for me, just having the ability to use an external mic for better audio would make it worth it. The question is, will you use the upgraded features for what you need? Because if not, save the $
Hello,
Thanks for this great and detailed review… precise, informative as usual…
I would like to share my opinion on Digital Compact Cameras with you.
1.- Line of products:
Camera companies should review their line of products to stop so much options, ...
Why a G7X III and a G5XII?
One with a viewfinder, the other one ... not.
Keep one with all relevant features (EVF, Headphones and Mic Jacks) and discontinue the other one.
The goal of a compact is to offer all in one body.
2.- Sensor size:
Probably it is time to drop the 1/2.3”, unless you are Nikon with the very specialized bridges: #P950, #P1000, means you are stuck with: Sensor Size, Optics and massive focal range vs reasonable body size.
I had a lot of fun with my old 1/2.3” canon bridge, I did photography stuffs I could not do my Galaxy.
The minimum of sensor size for compact should be 1”.
1” sensor should shut down the false debate "Smartphones are better than Compact cameras".
2.- Minimum of features:
Cameras companies should learn from this smartphone trend as well in term of accessibility, liberties.
Like all digital camera, especially compact should have a touchscreen.
Why the last P950 don’t have touchscreen?
All compact should have a minimum of features to make them relevant today.
You have a lot in one body plus the optics, somewhere smartphones can’t go.
Some compacts (point and shoot, advanced compact- sensor >= 1”) could miss one or two options (hot shoe,…) or have less Focal length range.
The purpose of a Bridge camera is to really offer DSLR and Mirrorless features in a body with fixed lens.
If I have to buy a bridge… I will expect to have a crazy hybrid camera giving me a bunch of features for stills and videos.
Touchscreen (articulated or tilting, but a real touchscreen for focusing, menu), hot shoe, Flash, 24/25 400/500/600 of FL (a bit of wide and a bit of telephoto), EVF, Focus Peaking/Stacking/Bracketing - Post Focus, JPG and RAW, 4K video, 4K photo / Raw Burst mode, Headphones and Mic jacks, Card slot on the side, Mode + Comp + Drive dials, Switch Video/Photo to features set separately, no more 1/2.3” but a 1” with 20 MP,… App for edit photo in cameras, Wi-fi, Bluetooth,…
Photography is more than selfie-graphy.
Camera companies should offer products that could attract smartphone photography amateurs as well.
But those people love their smartphones, compacts should be able to offer those “liberties” as well.
One thing for sure, some consumers will realize they need specialized devices dedicated to photography (Digital cameras) if they want to do photography beyond what their smartphones can offer them.
Good stuff! It's going to be interesting to see where they will go.
Another great review, thank you. I am still looking for a good camera. You advised me on one but i cannot find the comment. I was thinking of getting this one but the overheat issue and lack of auto focus puts me off. Overheating seems to be a problem with quite a few cameras! I will keep looking for one that is as good as the Olympus Pen E-PL10 camera. The removable lens for zoom etc made it too bulky and awkward for me. Hey ho, i will search more of your reviews now. 😊
If you don't want a removable lens, check out the ZV-1
@@TechGearTalk Thank you so much for replying. Will look at that one now. I did send another message on your lens reviews asking if I got the Canon M6 Mark 11, what lens would I buy if I did not want it big or bulky for a zoom equivalent to a fixed lens camera that has a 30x or 40 times zoom please? I like the look of that camera. I only understand when it says 30 or 40 x times zoom. Sorry 😊. I am determined to choose a camera today lol. I have been months trying as can't go to shops to try them and don't want to make another mistake.
There are no lenses that equal that type of zoom for the canon m6mkii (or any other mirrorless or dslr camera). Also, zoom lenses are going to be big and heavy. Hope that makes sense.
@@TechGearTalk Thank you once again for replying. Then I will have to I suppose forget about the removable lens cameras 😩 and just look at fixed lens. Which is a shame as the removable lens cameras all seem to be much better. Thanks once again though. You have been such a massive help.😊 x
Glad I could help!
Bang mohon dijawab , kamera ini bagus untuk foto produk tidak ? Saya berniat membeli . Atau ada rekomendasi kamera lain dengan harga 10-11 jutaan?
Do you think this is small enough to mount on a bike helmet, or several extension selfie sticks?
Save your money and get a GoPro for that kind of filming
great report well done stay safe
Thank you my friend - you as well!
Love this ❤️ btw I'm back from my trip, my go pro died because wine got in the mic jack so I'm in the market for a new camera 😁
Thanks!! Wait... "wine got in the mic jack" 🤔
@@TechGearTalk yeah I was in Italy for a wedding and celebrating my birthday and my girlfriends anniversary so I invested in a mic jack + rode video mic pro+ for my adventures... long story short, wine got in the mic jack because it spilled in my bag and fried my go pro so I'm in the market for a new camera! I sold my SL2 to pay for this trip and came back and I'm inspired and ready to get back on the horse!
OH NO!!! I'm so sorry to hear about the GP. I hope the trip was memorable and enjoyable. Can't wait to see what you do next.
@@TechGearTalk thank you for your constant love and support! I'm not even mad about the go pro, it was used very excessively it was great to take a step back and enjoy with no cameras, much love! looking forward to more of your videos (:
🙏
Wow this is incredibly informative! This video needs to reach more people cause these days people don’t really do their research and still to this day give the camera a bad name 😔
Great review dude 😊
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for being part of the channel!
Got my G7x Miii a month ago. I had some issues on focusing the subject especially when it comes to video.
Thanks for sharing Dindo. Is that still the case?
I heard there’s a firmware update comin at the end of this month.. do you think it would actually fix this AF issue for good?
Yep. Once again, Canon dropped the ball by not including 24fps on this one. (Among other things. 😩) Gonna stick with my Mark II for now. As always, Sagi, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Cheers!
Thanks brother! I can get over the 24 because I shoot at 30, but the auto focus... How is the auto focus on the mark ii treating you?
Tech Gear Talk I’ve no issues whatsoever with auto focus on the MKII. It’s fantastic IMO, and one of the major reasons why it’s my go-to camera when even the SL2 is too much/too big.
Appreciate you sharing Jay!
is the video recording limited to 10minutes? how long can you record a video lets say 1080p for ? and! does it break the video files into segments or one file?
Video recording is limited to 30 minutes. Files are broken in segments which is no big deal. You just add them one right after the other. Most of my cameras do that.
@@TechGearTalk Yes many of my previous cameras did the same thing and you had to line them up but sometimes in post it would jump at the budding point inbetween the two segments and that would ruin all my work
Amazing video... Sir
I'm super glad it was helpful! Thank you for the kind words and for joining the community 🙏
thank you!
what camera do you used for this video? and for all last your videos?
You're very welcome. I was using a Canon C100 MK II
I had g7x mark 2 I am not very happy except color.. what you will suggest ? Should i go for g7x mark 3? I wanted point to shoot and casual vlog with mic support. Smaller size easy to use while travling.. what you suggestion?
Hi. If you're happy with the mkii and are looking for better audio - yes, get the mkiii. You're already familiar with the ecosystem, it will be a simple transition for you. Hope that helps!
Tech Gear Talk thank you so much.. fir immediate response and helping me to sort out.. recently i bought canon 90 d with lenses 10-18mm but i found its big and travelling i may or may not able to carry where as canon g7xii is so easy small to carry.. both camera i bought after seeing your video.. thank you for helping me..
Glad I could help. I absolutely love the 90D because the quality is outstanding. For a pocket camera, the G7 X Mk III is a good tool
Thank you
Could you explain how you "downscale"4k to 1080p in post ... please
Whatever editing software you use just manually select 1080 instead of the software choosing 4k automatically
Nice one broo
Hi, like your video, but could you help me out a fellow UA-camr, at the moment I am using a Canon EOS M3 with a 22mm pancake lens and I also got the 15-45mm lens as well., but sometimes this camera hunts for focus in my UA-cam videos. I brought this at the time because it was cheap, better than using my phone, and small. But now I need even a smaller camera to do my UA-cam videos with better focus and to take in pocket for family days out, events, etc. My question is would the Cannon G7X III, is much better than that Canon EOS M3 by far, or should I still stick to the same camera. Please advice thanks 👍🏿👍🏿🇬🇧🇬🇧
Hi there - let's see if we can narrow it down. If I hear you correctly, you want something smaller, so another camera like the M6II ua-cam.com/video/Nir8pfvfdFI/v-deo.html wouldn't work (because the AF is incredible).
If you want something tiny that you can put in your pocket and go, the g7xmkiii (after the firmware update) should work for you. I can't really see any situation where it would be "too big" to bring along.
I hope this helps.
Tech Gear Talk thanks for help. Have you done a video on the firmware update on that camera g7x iii?
Not yet. But my friend has one, did the update, it's much better. And again, it would not be my first choice (I'd say get the M6II ua-cam.com/video/Nir8pfvfdFI/v-deo.html ) BUT, you are looking for something very small. Another option is the Sony RX100VII which is the best compact camera I've used... but costs a lot more: ua-cam.com/video/FSBlo1LB0p4/v-deo.html
Great review. I have a gX7 ii and I love the size and portability. I really want to have a camera to live stream and make videos. I use the camera connect app to take still photos remote ly with my iPhone. Will the mark iii have a remote video option from my phone?
Thank you Angelique - glad you liked it. Yes, you will have full control with the app for photos and video (with your iphone). Hope that helps.
Nice in depth review , lets hope canon resolve the autofocus issue with the firmware update ! Regarding the time-lapse setting on the MK iii do you find its difficult to find since its not in the location where it was on the MK ii ? thanks Dave
Thank you for the kind words. I hope the AF is corrected. I haven't used the MK ii in a while and this menu is more like the other Canon cameras I have (SL2, SL3, M50) so I was used to where the timelapse was. You found it right?
@@TechGearTalk Yeah found it and a have put in my custom menu now :-)
Smart!
@Tech Gear Talk Glad to see another manufacturer phasing out 24-fps.
I can't imagine why a professional would use a circa 1927 frame rate chosen to support audio recording on celluloid film. Presumably "experts" should know that "cinematic quality" has little to do with framerate and is a combination of lighting, framing, angle, sound quality, editing, story-flow, setting, surroundings, exposure, color-science, and other non-framerate factors related to the final goal of the clip. Also, an expert should know that UA-cam does not employ Telecine 3:2 pulldown as streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Disney, et-al. provide for smoothing out 24-fps movies. Shouldn't you know that outside of a 24-fps or 120-fps monitor, standard 30/60-fps monitors (I use a 60-fps gaming monitor) have a math problem with 24-fps? Sadly, your 24-fps videos will have jitter/judder.
I shoot at 30 so this doesn't matter to me. Many others prefer to shoot at 24 because they like the softer look. Some of my friends shoot at 60 because they like that look.
None of this really matters because it's a matter of preference. What matters (or what would matter to me if I was Canon) is the number of clients you'll lose for removing a feature some people want (from your entry-level cameras only - mind you) with no explanation or up side.
@@TechGearTalk Thanks for the review. And thanks for no jitter videos (subscribed). I'm buying a G7X-MKIII. :-)
Super happy to have you as part of the community!
I havea Pixel 3 Do I still need this camera for still photos ? Thank for the great review
It really depends on how good you need your photos to be.
Hello! I was unable to copy any files from my canon mark g7x mark ii. So, I transferred the sd card on my phone and connected to the computer. After that i just saw that there is nothing in the memory card. 😭 idk where my files went. Then when I re-entered that sd card to my canon camera it showed "Memory Card Error" 😭 I don't care about the card. But I badly need those files of my memory card. How to recover them. any idea? please please help 😭
I'm so sorry to hear that. Maybe try something like this: recoverit.wondershare.com/memorycard-recovery/recover-deleted-pictures-from-micro-sd-card.html I've never used it, but it may work.
Hi @techgeartalk - how do you record in 1080 for over an hour, when the camera has a 30 min time limit
Hi there. You can not do it internally with this camera. You will need an external recorder.
@@TechGearTalk Thank you so much. I was figuring there was a work around. Are you having any courses. Your format of teaching is excellent.
You're very welcome. I have been thinking of putting together courses. Would you take them?
@@TechGearTalk 100% depending on content.
