I have enjoyed all the weekly banters, in particular this weeks was brilliant. To do a follow on from The Sewing Bee showing /explaining how to do different things, how to use different sewing feet etc will be greatly welcomed and shall look forward to this. 🎉❤
I love watching Alistair on C&C not only for his stories but his tips. He showed us how to make a pattern for tops for ourselves using an old t-shirt which was amazing. He is always very generous with his knowledge and brings us fabulous fabrics and products too!
Greatly enjoying this series, and learning a lot. Surprised at the views on seam allowance. I've held to the 5/8th principle on most fabrics. Many reasons: it allows for French or flat fell options (and sometimes I change my mind about that after the cut); the threads can get distorted near the cut edge, and 1cm just isn't enough to ensure a true weave tension in many fabrics, especially if the thread count isn't high. For a thicker fabric (coating especially) I'll do 6/8 or even an inch. You can always trim it off, but on a long seam in a coat, it's much easier to get a clean line if you are well in from the edge.
There's are not many TV series these days that are on over several weeks that we don't get the opportunity to binge watch. So this series has us all following weekly looking forward to the next episode then your show allows us to have that 'gossip' about what we watched last night. Wonderful, thank you so much ❣️

Another brilliant video, please keep the videos coming after the sewing bee. Would be nice to see more videos about sewing, tools, fabic hints, tips, and more. To follow on from what Becky said, hints and tips for making clothes that fit odd shaped bodies would be nice.
Love this as much as the actual Sewing Bee and especially about things changing over the years like seam allowance’s! I would never like to have to make anything with 30+ pieces in 5 hours 🙈 Keep up this amazing work Alistair x🎉
Loved this week, Alistair’s comment on seam allowances, reminded me of my dad. He used to take in or mostly let out his trousers. Growing up during the war and the years after meant he learned how to make clothes last. I was always amazed that his suit trousers had a huge wide seam at the back. Yes my dad sewed he taught me along with my mum how to sew (he was a coach trimmer and had industrial sewing machines and a little 16 singer for smaller/thinner items. I used to make my own clothes and design simple tops when I was younger. But somewhere I’ve lost my confidence and only make small things now. Not sure I’d ever tackle a trench coat. I also think Mia will win, although Asmaa is a better sewer (experience helps) Kim you say about pulling the fabric through, the machine rather than allowing the feed dogs to do it. I learned on a treadle singer from 1945, which was my 10th birthday present, (wish I still had it) but that’s how I was taught to sew, to help the fabric, I still hold the fabric on the far side of the needle, not pulling it but keeping the fabric taut, strange how things change.
I follow as many designers, dress makers etc online and tv as I can to learn as much as I can. The thing I struggle with is finding the fabric I want for the pattern I like. Does the fabric often inspire the garment, or do you trawl the stores to find the fabric that you like for your chosen design/pattern?
Lovely insight from Becky. I read (on Vicki's Instagram I think) that she chose her plus size model. She should have been given more credit for her pattern adjustments. Fab show, this one and the GBSB X

I agree - thought it was hard to do a trench coat first off, I worked in a factory many years ago and it was section work - each person got part of the garment to sew,. Really hope Mia wins - I think Tony is really good, Please keep the videos going even after sewing bee - we all love them, Elaine
Yes, and I felt for her on the challenge, except that I went in search of a plus size jumpsuit/boiler suit pattern and found several, including one that accounted for cup sizes. I was puzzled why she went with a pattern she needed to enlarge AND do a FBA and full bum adjustment.
I really think the second round needs a rethink. Maybe that’s the place for sewing bags. Backpacks, zipped pouches, demonstrating use of various interfacing or other specific techniques - patchwork, appliqué, hats. You get the idea. 😊
this weeks transformation challenge sunk to a new low. As Becky said you would never reuse cleaning cloths etc, a much better use of time (if we cannot have a follow up programme)would be a masterclass showing where the mistakes were made, this would benefit the contestants before the made to measure challenge and help all the viewers with their sewing. I love the Natter each week but would also love to see demonstrations of errors made during the programme or with the example shown, which as we are aware is rarely perfect.
Great banter as usual. Like lizzy I would of hated it if the trench coat pattern had been given to me,5 hours wasn't nearly enough time so they all did a great job. Along with my husband we have watched the very first series, how things have changed. Much preferred the transformation challenge when they all had the same garment to transform into something different ,at least the end garment was wearable. I agree with Kim about the models, there should be a week when all the contestants are given a plus size model to make a garment for , maybe the quarterfinals ,it would show off their skills more. Looking forward to the final ❤

I also agreed that the trench coat and boiler suite should have been swapped around. I would also like to see Mia win.
Hi, Love your show, I used to have a competition from the first episode with my students as to who would win the Series. We all put our choice of sewer in a sealed envelope and they were opened at the results of the final and I would give a copy of the sewing bee book for the series as a prize. I would also like to point out that Esme's necklace was a knitted wire piece and was very well constructed with gems. Thanks for all your input I really enjoy it and glad to hear there are people on the same page as me.
Totally agree with Kim's comments re Mia would love to see her win she is a breath of fresh air. Hopefully we shall see more of her on the various channels and make a career for herself.
Lovely video again, and so informative. I haven't made a garment for years. I always put in lapped zips and wouldn't know where to start with an invisible zip. I've even put one in with prickstitch. Interfacing back then was quite basic but readily available in many shops near me. Now there are so many different types and no shops near me, so everything would have to be bought online. I'd love to make myself a dress but need to lose weight first. I think the last dress and jacket I made was for a wedding at least 20 years ago and that was only because being 5' 2" ( at a stretch), and a bit overweight, every garment I tried on would have needed altering. I need to sort myself out and get on with things.
I've enjoyed listening to all the guests, another informative episode this week. I won't be surprised to see Mia win the final, agree with all the comments.

Extra space in seams - that's what's done with films and other shows, to allow those with walk on parts have a costume, whatever their size
