Awesome job! Train of consequence's tone is spot on ! The Tubeworks was used while touring for Countdown to Extinction. Live, Dave relied on a CAE 3+ preamp with a VHT 2150 poweramp, Tubeworks Real Tube II along with Yamaha spx 900 for FX and a Rocktron Hush IICX as a noise canceller. The same rig was used live for Youthanasia world tour. Cheers from Morocco
Those old VHT power amps are really cool I would love to have one. There is a lot of old rack gear that is classic but a lot of it is very rare so there isn't much content out there about it. Thanks for your comment. 🤘
@@ShredHeads The song writing style was not what was typically done in the metal genre at the time. The production was also better than anything else at the time.
This makes me want to watch Evolver. I used to have it on VHS when I was a teenager and watched it often. I loved when Marty would be playing the Strat and saying, "Don't tell anyone I used this!" lol
Okay... now we now that "particular" is your absolute favourite word mate LOL..... Just kidding! Really enjoy your videos and particulary this one ;-) Keep on rocking!
Great tone Bro! Not a fav of mine in that era of Mega's journey. Like Metallica's journey in that time, they did tend to bend to the "sound of the day", and that is good, and change is good. It reminds one of where you come from, and as it evolves, it comes full circle. :-) Well done on the tone!
Yeah a lot of bands changed their sound during the 90's. I think Metallica is more guilty of this because Lars has always liked to follow the trends in music. Sometimes it was the pressure from the stupid record companies that didn't give bands too many choices.
Love these sound reenactments. I thought I saw pic of his rack gear in one of the early '90s guitar mags and he sported a Rocktron Prophesy 1 or 2 preamp for the Youthansia album. I'm curious on the tone used for Risk and World Needs a Hero - really fat in some songs. I know he used JMP-1 for Cryptic and I thought Risk - not sure...
A lot of players during the Rack era would have multiple different units both for preamps and power amps. They would try stuff out so the rack stuff was constantly being swapped in and out.
5:25 Marty Friedman used that preamp for his lead tones in the studio on Rust in Peace, and for his leads on that tour, as well as on the countdown (and probably youthanasia as well) tour, as seen in the pictures you provided. So Tornado of Souls is that preamp through a vht 2150 poweramp.
Yeah I do know that both Marty and Dave had this tubeworks preamp in their racks for a while in the early 90's. I did recently pickup a 1990 VHT 2150 so there will definitely be more cool megadeth content in the future. 👍
According to Max Norman, Dave wanted a more rounded sound after Countdown, and the cabs were the Marshalls from previous recordings with the Vintage 30s and the Marshall tube power amp with the Marshall rack unit 9200 Power and the JMP-1 rack. I always thought the difference in tone was quite jarring from countdown to youth, and not really for the better. The Bogners to me were way better
In the 90s I worshiped at the alter of the 3 best albums from Megadeth! Hell, I still do! Love that lineup. Btw you said Dave's V was too expensive but isn't that Majesty like $3600? Thanks for doing this vid
The Marty and Menza line up is my favorite as well. Great group of players. In regards to Dave's V it's not that its too Expensive its more like it just IS expensive. Both majesty and King V's are not cheap guitars. 👍

The VHT is the best sounding power Amp of the era.
You definitely don't get enough credit for the stuff you are putting out! Great job.
Thanks man, I appreciate the support. I’ll keep trying to put out great content for the cool people out there. 👍
Youthanasia was so ahead of its time.
In what way, musically?

This video is super useful and informative. Great content bro! Cheers from Brazil🇧🇷🤟
Thanks you. I appreciate the comment. Hello from United States 🇺🇸

Yeah some of those shows and magazines were cool because they would feature some back stage info and interviews.
Rust in Peace is my favorite album, but Youthanasia has the best guitar tone.

Gotta luv the bit!!! Killer tone
Thanks dude, I think I've seen some of your videos around on UA-cam. Some cool slash stuff for sure.

@@Nghilifa Thanks man, definitely want to get a CAE 3+ pre amp at some point as well.

if thats coming from the producer its probably credible knowledge.
He to me was my Bob Rock. His ability to capture Marty and Dave ut still make the rest of the band sound phenomenal was mind blowing. @@ShredHeads
Dave Mustaine always seemed to dislike that era of Megadeth, but that's my favorite album.
I like this era of Megadeth too. The early 90’s stuff was great but the stuff that came after youthanasia wasn’t that great though.

Niiiiiice!
Now the hardest part is to replicate in the FM3 😬, thanks Bro!
Well with the fm3/axe fx 3 you can get pretty much any tone if you know how to use it. 👍
Any tips on how to get this tone with a Yamaha THR 30ii?
Sorry I’m not familiar with that amp. There should be some tutorials out there for it though.
Ezdrummer or SD3 what kit?
I used a backing track I found on UA-cam. I don’t know what kind of drum software they used to create it.
