Every song from Youthanasia is memorable and HEAVY AF whereas the Black Album was mostly a bunch of songs that were totally forgettable plus a few played-out radio hits. Youthanasia was the album I had on repeat all of junior and senior year of high school. Rust in Peace is still my favorite but Youthanasia holds such a special place in my heart. Dave's voice is the best it ever was and it's chock full of some very underrated Marty solos. The original mix that's on Spotify is MASSIVE. Nick's drums are monstrous.

08:22 The Killing Road riff also sounds like a riff from a Havok song called "Intention to Decieve" (obviously, it was there before Havok, but thought it was worth mentioning).
Anyway, great video, Youthanasia is my favorite non-thrash albums by Megadeth! Been meaning to learn some more songs off the album, so I might pick some up! Thanks Uncle Ben!

This album is a classic, one of the best, it was a hard time for metal music at that time in the market, but the quality of the song writing, the riffs, and arrangments, prduction, and heavy, heavy buetaful guitar tone, bass, and drum deapth, make this album one of the best comitted to tape in my opinion. It was a hard market for metal in '94. In my opinion this is one of the best albums Megadeth ever made.

Such a great album. Countdown was my first real metal album so I was really looking forward to Youthanasia. Probably Megadeth's most polished album. It's got the riffs, great tone, hooks, Marty madness... Love it!
Favourite riff: Black Curtains. All of them! But it is hard to pick cos there are so many great moments on this record.

This album and the system has failed are my two favorite Megadeth records. Youthanasia has so many awesome songs. Family Tree is probably my favorite. The thing I love about this era, including Cryptic Writings, was the mixing of guitar hooks with vocal melody hooks. These were songs you could sing along to and get excited for the coming chorus, as well as the great riffing you expect. It was just fantastic songwriting.

I have some good memories of this album. I remember this album being the soundtrack for a lot of Mortal Kombat 2 battles with my brother. I eventually got the Hal Leonard tab book for it and learned the songs.
Also I know it was one of the more simplistic songs on the album but Addicted to Chaos had very interesting guitar work. Some of the parts rely so heavily on the guitar parts completing each other that they lose a lot of the vibe when played individually. It's still one of my favorite songs on that album.

A few years later it turned out he just might have been right🤔

Youthanasia came out during a dark time in my life. I love it because it was like a friend during hard times. I did hear though that Dave M. had some idea that songs had to be 120bpm to be hits so he did this a ton on this album. I think I read that somewhere.
