When Samur Makyr transformed, he gained wings. What if the mutation Samur went through is some kind of de-evolution back to the original Seraphim form?
This is not confirmed but this is my take on the symbol. The central symbol means Davoth. Or maybe it means creator, or father. Davoth has that symbol on his back, and on his armor. I thought it might mean prisoner or imprisoned as he was sealed off from the rest of reality but that wouldn't make sense as he has the symbol on his armor, with a golden color. So the symbol in the center either means Davoth, or King or Creator or something like that. However if you look closely, the symbol of the slayer has a few bits of writing on the corners apart from the central symbol, while Davoth has only the center symbol. Now I want to say I applaud you for figuring all of this put before the DLC was out, I realized this (and started playing for the first time) a week or two ago, when the DLC was already out. We learn that they use a tad bit of essence from Davoth to create the divinity machine, and that Davoth is in fact the true creator, not the father. They created de Divinity machine not to bless or grant someone with divine abilities but to kill whoever turns out to be the prophesized beast. However, Davoth, while having his essence be trapped in Ingmore's Sanctum, could still influence the outside world, and whispered words to Samur the Seraph who wanted to actually destroy Davoth's essence (don't know why the father didn't do it tho) which made Samur think that as the divinity machine could destroy flesh it could also repair or enhance it, so he reversed the machine in order to create a god that would kill Davoth. And so he fused the slayer with Davoth's essence shard (which was used in the creation of the divinity machine). This rendered the machine useless as it had no power source anymore and gave the slayer a portion of the power of the actual creator of the universe. The divinity machine has the creator's (Davoth's) symbol too. And after being subjected to the divinity machine, the slayer had this symbol on him and his stuff, his armor, his crucible, etcétera. BUT, the slayer's symbol has four extra bits of writing on the corners that the original symbol on Davoth and his stuff doesn't have. This extra bit of writing either means "contained" or "a portion of" or "the son of" Which means that the symbol on the slayer doesn't mean "Doom Slayer" per se, but doesn't mean just Davoth either, it means son of the creator, "Davoth's Cutting" or contained Davoth or mini Davoth....you get the idea. However I could find absolutely no explanation for why they look the same. It's true that the Slayer's power comes from the creator itself (Davoth), but it doesn't mention anything about his DNA and the only relation they have in terms of published lore is that the Slayer got turned into a god using a bit of the essence of the creator, but before the divinity machine, no alteration was made to him. So I have a few explanations First one, it could all be just a coincidence But let's be real, it isn't. Another one is that the physical form of the Slayer may have changed after exiting the divinity machine, bit then no one would recognize him and therefore they couldn't fear him as the Seraph said It could also be that the Seraph created the Slayer using DNA from Davoth somehow preserved even after most of the DNA's atoms should have naturally decayed So this one is probably discarded as well My oldest hypothesis and the one I think is more likely is that Davoth had no physical form, just as the father didn't have a physical form either. And with no physical form to resurrect, when he resurrected Davoth, they could have given him whatever form. But Davoth was resurrected with doom slayer's forma because either he contaminated the sphere with his own DNA through blood, spit or merely touching it, or because part of the essence of Davoth was inside the slayer, so slayer's form was related to Davoth and they gave him the slayers body. My own hypothesis has a weak spot which means I'm probably wrong, which is that when davoth was resurrected he already had the symbol of davoth on his body, so either I'm wrong or the slayer has those markings on his body beneath his armor (only the slayer would also have the extra bits on the corners) and when they copied slayer's form they changed the symbol to reflect the true nature of davoth Idk I'm tired and also I'm sorry for lecturing you you'll probably not read this but if you do have a nice day!!!
But the slayer testaments say when they encased Slayer in the tomb "The mark of the DOOM slayer was burned upon his crypt" So it's not the dark lord's mark but Slayer's
@@SaimizZ yet in the video in which Acid explains the same symbol was on the divinity machine before the Slayer became immortal on Argenta. So the symbol predates Doom Slayer.
Yea its probably symbol of gods, I guess why they called it symbol of Doom slayer might be because he was the only one to be alive? If i recall correctly then Davoth killed every other one (probably their soul spheres are in the same place his was) And as for the shield of Marauder - i think they maybe made a mistake like with the Davoth's crucible or instead maybe that symbol is supposed to mean that they are lesser than doom slayer/primevals and thats why its similiar but a little different?
The Slayers mark is designed to resemble a sword plunging down into fire, a symbol of thwarting evil. I'm sure hugo or someone explained this at some point for D2016
One question remains who is the wretch? We know it was the seraphim who gave him his godlike powers but it was the wretch a Righteous demon betraying his kind who forged for the Doom slayer his preator suit which allowed him to survive in hell for many years. Protecting him from harm and amplifying his strength. Unless I’m just missing something and the Seraphim and the wretch are the same thing.
Yooo I’ve been pondering on who he is for the longest and it’s crazy how barely anyone brings him up. If you read the Spectre demon codex it mentions “Warlocks of an abandoned sovereign house...” that created the spectres to go against the Arch Demons(Lieutenants of the Dark Lord) of Hell. So obviously it’s hinted there is some sort of rebellion going on in Hell. So the Wretch has to be another piece in the puzzle.
I'm not sure what to think of the Mark considering the new lore we have, but it is absolutely tied to Davoth, Doomslayer, AND the Makyr technology. I would guess it originates with the Father himself, but that still leaves a lot of questions to be answered, since the art of the symbol itself doesn't match and the symbol's never seen in Urdak.
One thing that seems to be overlooked, Davoths Body, when the Soul Sphere is taken out, the codex shows his body falling, the body is immortal too, so what if Doomguy was given the body or his body was merged with it, and when he was examined, they couldn't determine his age?
One reason they couldn't determine his age might be he's from a different universe, it's shown that he's the same guy from the original Doom games but it's obvious it's not the same Earth from those games, also all the time he spent fighting in hell and the argent energy field aroud him proby messed with whatever method they used to test his age.
My personal theory: The father (vega), The son (the dark lord), the holy spirit (the slayer). They are the holy trinity of it all thats why the slayer could destroy the fathers sphere. They are all equal in a sense of the word.
dude your theory makes sense, for the slayer actually gained his power by the divinity machine, it could be the spirit inside gave slayer power and made him a god.
They made a very good lore. And that Cyber Demon is just like that demon defeated in Castle of Wolfstein old DOS games, included when Blasko took one arm and one leg from the demon.
Remember in the beginning of DOOM Eternal, the street prophet mentioned "They fear The Mark of the Beast". Is this refer to the demon fear the DOOM Slayer? Or is it?
That's an interesting idea, also explains why they keep repeating those words. However I'm not sure it was the Doom Slayer himself. First off, and I admit this may not matter, the Slayer isn't from any of the worlds the Father is said to have created, he's from an alternate Earth. Also it never mentions him specifically creating any one else, just Dovath and the Seraphim and humanity. My slight modification to your theory is The Light is the process Doomguy went through in the machine that enhanced him turning him into The Doom Slayer, possibility part of the Father's essence.
I've seen and come up with some other theories about the Slayer Mark. One theory is that when the dark lord is resurrected he takes on qualities of the person who resurrected him, kind of like in The Fly movies when a fly flies into a chamber during a teleportation experiment and it's DNA mixes withe guy testing it, basically Blasco left an imprint of his DNA or essence on the sphere which influnced the Dark Lords appearance when he was resurrected. Now a couple personal theories, which follow the similar line of the Dark Lord indeed looking like the Slayer. What if once they trapped him in Hell they thought he was the Dark Lord or wanted other demons to think he was? Considering he ruled Hell demons would be less likely to mess with something that had his mark on it, demons who weren't involved in trapping him would think it was either their ruler or something that belonged to him and would be afraid to mess with it.
They gotten kinda wild with the doom story. I miss the "human caused a demon invasion on mars and now it's spread to earth and only one badass marine can stop it" story. Not this "you ARE a god" bullshit
Also it says in one of the 2016 codex that the warriors of hell get stronger as The Dark Lord gets stronger. The Baron of Hell's evolution is proof of this within Doom lore
Does that mean Davoth was a mortal and then upgraded to the status of Primeval like the chosen one to look after his people. This only means that the disconnect of Urdak from humanity had a different result in terms of how living sentient creatures view life. The closer to Urdak mortal life was the more they doubted themselves as they compared them selves to the image of the people of Urdak and also immortality (A good example is the relation of the Khan Maykr with the people of Argenta). Does that mean that the slayer is a Primeval? or something more powerful cause Samuel addresses him as a Titan once, cause if the Icon of Sin was to be considered a real threat to the Slayer does that mean the dark lord is also vulnerable to the Icon? cause the game or the lore sometimes seems to imply that Titans are a real threat to the slayer or otherwise but since their champion was defeated the Icon they have given up and become salves towards hell
