Do an episode talking about the lifeguards at these spots. Those guys are studs of the ocean and I have nothing but respect for those guys. It's definitely not Baywatch bullshit that they do, they are legit.
Yes a wassel interview would be amazing 🤗✊🏼
i second that
This would be awesome to have on the podcast. Interviews with lifeguards
Those lifeguards are great people. Doing good for the right reason in the most beautiful place on earth, North Shore Oahu. 😊
Nah Koa ain’t gonna give the lifeguards any spotlight on his channel 😂 he selfish af
Thank you for allowing Lydia to make an appearance in the vlog. Makes my day.
Hope you and Nate are making coin with your channels! You deserve it. I enjoy the personal, living vicariously through you guys. God speed.
8:17 the beat drop, that was sick
What’s the song name?
Baptized and buried
As a former lifeguard, the fact there are dudes who actually guard these parts of the ocean, and the people who surf them, is truly a higher calling. They have to guard their own life as much as the lives of others. Real stuff
Crazy the guys used to surf those waves with no leashes or floatation. No jet skis either. Couldn't imagine being out there and having to swim back. Insane.
Yeah people died.
I don't know if any wave is worth your life. Maybe if you're a single guy with no one who cares about you. But imagine putting your family and friends through losing you just to get a wave.
Greg Noll
Greg Noll
I don't know if I'm more jealous of your status for your ability to go surfinh or your ability to get hot ass tail. jeezus bruh
I love that surfers are named/labeled so you can spot who it is. It's awesome that you give props to the surfers as well.
same!
Love the ending with the waves
Its crazy that there are that many people who are keen to paddle out in 30 ft surf that it can be dangerously crowded.
It's 50 foot that's what Koa said. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 more like 15 to 25 not no damn 50 foot. This kid is a kook
@@samw2768 Ye at start of video I assumed there would be 50 foot and started typing my comment but then by the end I was like wtf and had to edit my comment.
I really appreciate how deep he took off
Man, I miss surfing out there with my Pyzels. Can't wait to come back
well at least the safety vest was red instead of black - making it easier to see someone surfing and to find them fast in a wipe out .... BUT perhaps fluorescent Orange with reflective tape like the road construction workers ware ? a mere 1000th of a second with finding you faster in a wipe out ,could mean life or death if a jet ski can't find you fast enough...
Loving the cinematic shots at the end Jack! Well done boys, great vid🤝🏾
.. after watching all those edits all week .. .. yours is 100%.. this is epic...
Love the balance of all in these videos. Loved the explanation of new vest and ankle strap release, the waves, music and jacks great filming!!! Just wish videos were longer.
K just a sweet sweet vid.......Jack amazing edit with song choice for that wave session.....there is this verse that states "no greater love then he that lays his life for his brother' the way you took that wave for the sake of John was so impressive......checked out that wave on John's clip it was even more sketch with yours...
Again my brother....sweet sweet content....blessings upon blessings
Deeper then most you da man 🤘
Ditch the girl who said that she would break her nails.. trouble
Padillac why no shill? Nice board caddy you have! Awesome video, the music spot on.
i used to be an undercover cop in LA and i was put on this assignment to infiltrate a small group of bank robbers who would wear ex president halloween masks. They happen to be surfers as well. it was crazy dude.
Man, you had some great waves.
It looked like you took off deeper than anyone else on most of them too.
Respect.
Yep guts effort.... was taking off on the inside every wave....
Swallowed up! "throw your heart over the falls, the rest will follow" B.N.W. Peace. Mahalo.
Name the pod waterdogs lol
Koa's the best, just love his delivery style, he doesn't dress anything up - it's just straight talking, telling it like it is. Seems like a really good bloke.
Not for the faint of heart! Great video Koa!
This is livin' truck decal? Get on it brother! :)
How come the deepest guy rule doesn't seem to apply at Waimea? You were almost always the deepest guy. I surfed there a few times when I lived in Hawaii in the eighties, not quite that big though. lol! Same thing back then, everyone just charging and taking off no matter how many guys on a wave! Rocky Point was also my favorite break! 🤙
Probably because Waimea is all about the drop and not much else after that.
I think it's one wave that's the exception to the rule, because you always see everyone dropping in on each other at the Eddie lol. Looks like complete chaos. Good on ya for getting out there, that looks terrifying. My limit is like a 1/4 of that size haha.
It's one of those spots where every wave is a party wave. The wave peaks in a narrow area, which causes the lineup to be clustered in a small crowded area. The drop is somewhat steep and heavy, but it breaks slowly and mushily and almost never closes out, so each wave can accommodate many riders at once.
@@jzen1455 that would be cool in 4ft. surf as you describe it but not 40ft! lol! Waves are way too crowded these days as it is, glad I had my time when it was less so.....
Koa I love how you catched every wave soo deep in brother!! you are fucking insaneeeeeeee
Those euros sitting right behind you have no clue. So crazy. They're just like "what's going on with this dude?" All the while you're charging mountains. That's just good TV son.
Q and A what do you think about sharks?
First podcast guests should be some of those lifeguards and jet ski rescue people. They must have some great stories about dumb tourists.
I worked in Yellowstone for 2 years. Same kind of dumb tourist nonsense. No you can’t pet the buffalo!
Damn Koa, you were the deepest on all your waves you took off on!! You have balls of steel Brahdah!!! Great video as always. Keep up the great videos!! Look forward to watching them weekly. 👍 🏄♂️ 🌊 😊
I like your channel and you are a top surfer. In the beginning of the video the lighting on you was too dark. Try to let your camera person to maybe bring some lights, shot manual and open up the lens and or change the camera angle so it’s not so back lit. The audio was fine.
looks magnificent, good luck
my favorite surf blog by far . this young man is so talented and humble despite his status in HI. Keep livin it up bro !
I agree, all these friends, Koa, Nate, Eli, John John (arguably the best surfer on the planet) are so incredibly humble and just soooo easy to root for and like. They bring me a lot of joy when watching from a far.
@@SasoCasablanca63 with you on all of that! 👍👌
Talented? He sucks ! Only good at going straight. His turns are weak as fuck and has zero air game. No he sucks and is nothing special
Btw, what is his “status”?

Paddle in at big Waimea takes courage . (Done that w/o vest, like the explanation of the vest though) Kudos to all ya’ll. Especially like the idea of interviewing the men maybe some women who are the first responders of Waimea and Ehukai Beach Park ( Pipe). I never saw a woman life guard at either break when it’s big. I assume there some now. It’s 45 years since I dropped in at either break. 70 year old Florida long boarder now. Made here stayed here. Thanks for your work. I relive the best days of my life through you. 😊
Awesome!
*If you pull four your day is probably over 💀*
I've bever surfed before but always respected the athleticism, danger and beauty all mixed in one!
Great job guys loving your videos while holding down the snow up here in the USA Massachusetts!
The JJ cut off by Koa(not on purpose) without context is funny.
The Nate/Koa podcast story gets better and the idea JJ is messing around getting close to Koa is amazing.
Appreciate all of your content, gracias!
You should call the Podcast "2 Bears 1 Wave "
Yes! 😂😂😂
Most authentic surf content online - Great work
"Authentic" ? ? ....... Hahahahahahahaha....
how do you guys not run into each other on the waves, seems like some are careful but others are not, so much more crowded than 30 years or so ago
13:09 ftw
50 foot waves my left foot!!
Topic for next podcast - What will it take for helmets be just as 'must have' as the Co2 vests?
"Nowhere is safe on The North Shore Today"...Another great episode, awesome song during the session, and John definitely got close to you on purpose HAHAAHAA!!!!! Koa/Nate/Coldsteel Knives colab, This Is Living Throwing Machetes?!?!?! Keep up the great surfing, filming and editing...
Phew! Fantastic 19:29 😊fly on wall view. Glad to see that your girlfriends nails are ok!!
Take my like in honor of your GoPro 👍
40ft party waves
Kinda wish he’d be a little more inclusive with his girlfriend. I have experience with surfing Waimea as well. Overall I really enjoy his surfing experiences. Keep it up K, just want to hear from your girl.
Hey Koa , this is Marcel's Godfather. Please put Jack's face on screen. So grateful for the video memories of my best friend. Hope to connect in a couple weeks. Best luck for the Eddie.
How dumb is that cop saying you’re not special. 😂 only couple surfers out of the 100,000 people getting in the water! Lol 🏄🏽🌊
All of a sudden, hundreds of beached tourists and UA-cam fans are on the hunt for the missing Koa-Go-Pro. Stay tuned next week to see if any treasures were found (movie voice).
@8:15 heroic & respectful ditch for a brother
My favourite part of your videos is that even though I'm at home in Canada in wintertime, for at least a few minutes I feel like I'm in Hawaii. Keep it rolling
Awesome waves. Your podcast with Nate is excellent!
They crush it.
Dude taking on biggest waves on North Shore. Chick: 'Oh no I broke a nail' 🤣😂
Crazy some guy chose to drop in on John John … fool…. Lol didn’t realize that was koa that did that.
I searched Spotify and Apple podcast, where can I find it? Can’t listen to you tube while I’m working.
Love the RCJ visit - legend!
Dude absolutely chaos . Must be so sketchy to worry about ur drop in but to also worry about other 10ft boards not slamming onto your head
Nakoa Florman's Big Wave Radio
Why don't I ever see women surfing the big waves on these videos?
can we get a Waimea paddle out video
You look good man
Some of the waves looked like the LA Freeway…. Keep the energy going Koa… you’re a great spokesman
What kind of glass is that? I’m wondering why you always use that
Looks like big wave surfing is getting more and more crowded. I would imagine that makes it even more dangerous. Would be curious to hear thoughts on this. Thanks for content, Koa & Co 🤙🏼
Koa Why are so many people going on each wave? All rules change at Waimea Bay? Are those air cartridges for your vest refillable?
Koa, try a homeopathic roll-on called Cramp911 for muscle cramps. Helps even the worst cramps in minutes. Make sure you take your magnesium and calcium at same time. Leave podcast name as is.....would love it if you had Laird Hamilton as a guest, along with more locals surfers, life guards and local customs.
Sodium, potassium?
Bro this cinematic slow motion is another level, give me goosebumps with the song too🔥
The Waffle House has found its new host
Koa and John John taking off from way back, that's where Eddie Aikau would line up.
Good stuff. Ross Clarke-Jones, Legend! It's gonna be a good year
Waimea seems like such a disappointing wave for the reason that it crumbles into a mushball quickly.
But that drop is scary, world class shit.
You guys are bad ass.
Hi~Just Came Across YouOnTubeWOW~SighHawaiiRagesTheSickest🌊🌊🌊~SoooManyAmazingRadSurfers🤙🤙🤙
Fuck yeah core lord RCJ!!!
I’m confused: they run The Eddie when the Bay is marginally closed out or closed out? That sounds a bit lolo!
Why is it that there’s like 5 people on most waves at Waimea? Is that like tradition? Or is it just al free for all out there? Genuinely asking!
Ross Clarke Jones is a farking legend
There are not enough ways to tell the gratitude, I have, getting to watch you carve. From the bottom of my heart, Mahalo. I'll pray daily for your enjoyment, skill and safety.
The new podcast is great! Thanks for the content
agreed
WHAT A KOOK FEST!!! APPARENTLY NOBODY KNOWS THE RULES OF SURFING...... BRO YOU GOT CUTOFF ON ALMOST EVERY WAVE!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍🌊🌊🌊👍🌊🌊🌊👍👍❤️🌊🌊
That's all I ever see there. Blows my mind that such good surfers would put each other in such a dangerous predicament and show disrespect like that. Honestly, don't see the allure of that wave between it just being nothing but a massive drop and dealing with crowded drop ins all day long
Awesomeness yeeeeeeeees!!!!!!!
"not that many people out there"
Shot out to Ross C. The man
Maybe an airtag for the GoPro? Great footage, scenic times.
Can you get some of the amazing life guards on, I'm sure.thwy have some wild stories of rescues etc.
This is one of my fave videos that you’ve done. Loved it and keep up the great content. Best of luck for the podcast. :)
Aloha brudda!! I was out on the east, North shore too big for swimming. Great video!!
Shouts out to deez baby grom bros
Yea Koa! You’re lady seems rad! Way to go dude, keep on livin
FYI - You do not have to "chop" coconuts open to enjoy the water, in fact that method is inherently wasteful! There is ALWAYS a face on each coconut shell. Two brow ridges/eyes and a mouth hole. The mouth hole (beneath the two eyes/brow ridges) is the softest part of EVERY coconut shell! You can effortlessly flake that part of the shell right off, scoop out the coconut lining, and you have yourself a perfectly suitable drainage hole to pour or drink directly from! Then once you've optimized the hydrating fluids you can freely chop the shell in half to enjoy the rest of its edible contents, or even use the shell itself as art supplies! Where else can you find spherical hollowed out hard WOOD??? The face on each individual coconut shell is literally the anthropomorphic artwork of mother nature! Ask yourself, is it art imitating LIFE, or life imitating ART?! Do moneys know how to optimize the nutritive contents of coconuts? No, they just break them open! Time we all evolve some and pass the (commonsense) positivity! 🙌💦
I want to see your brothers and Nathan's brothers on the podcast. I want embarrassing baby time stories!
Bucket hat? I’m in
50 FT Hawaiin? That's 100 foot regular mortal. DAM. 8:20 - dude sees John John and bails!
What's amazingis 50 years ago waves this size were being called 25ft. now days, WTF 50ft, Bullshit
😈😈😈😈 50 ft is where you thive 😈😈😈😈 legendary scres me watching the waves 😈😈😈😈
