Kristin is deep and provides characteristically colorful responses. Tanya wasn't asked, so said nothing more than a couple words. Tanya has made some wonderful music, but Throwing Muses with different line-ups and Kristin on her own has given us many, many great albums.
God, this takes me back! Rockin in the UK was broadcast in the early hours on Tyne Tees (usually around 3) and I used to either stay up to watch it or tape it and get up early. I loved Throwing Muses so I do recall seeing this almost serious interview at the time. The Muses were such a great live band with strong songs and an electric stage presence. I recently interviewed both Tanya and Kristen and can gladly report that they are lovely people with music in their hearts. The very latest Muses album is also well worth checking out. Thanks for posting.
I remember seeing this band at Harlesdon Mean Fiddler in West London in 88 and when I got to the gig my girlfriend was illl and stated throwing up. We waited outside the toilets for her which was at the back of the room and in the process missed the support who were playing on the dancefloor in front of the stage. Could hear then properly but seemed to be making on hell of a noise...missed their set...and missed one of The Pixies earliest UK gigs in the process....only realized this about 20 years later whilst reading a biog on the Pixies .. kinda gutted and bemused ... My girlfriend passed away last year . Our daughters called Kristen. She studying medicine. Never did get to see the Pixies live again either. ha ha. Life huh?
@@davidthomas1467 They were stepsisters. Did you expect fistfights? It's clear to me that Tanya felt constrained and overshadowed within the TM framework that Kristin had established for the band and, while she wasn't going to call Kristin out, was ready to assert her own place in music - with Kristin or without her. That may not be acriminious, but it's not peaches and cream either.
I love Kristin’s voice.
Lived in Cambridge MA, and they were amazing, part of the scene. Women were rocking in the 80's. x.

Kristin Hersh is really beyond as a writer and creator, so glad she was a part of my youth!

@@chrisgoulding4892 bless your family and enjoy the memories 🤘
Love this band I got to see them on this tour at portsmouth poly awesome gig.
Still got the vinyl album of Hunpapa great album.
They were so young! The time is so cruel!
Kristin is cool as fuck but Tanya is a GODDESS.
Works in reversal as well
Tanya is a shill
This was not an interview with Kristin and Tanya. No wonder Tanya left TM - she was all but completely ignored in this so-called interview.
Tanya hated interviews. She was very nervous. She would be there to support Kristin.
Tanya barely adds anything. She was only there to support Kristen.
Tanya leaving the Muses wasn't acrimonius. She left to do her own thing
