For me, the perfect Sonic game is a story-driven, fully 3D game with multiple playable characters and Crush 40 music. It wouldn't have to have multiple stories, though. But I most of all really want SA3.
I know I'm going to start rambling but I'll start. 30 SA1,SA2 and Mach Speed/Boost levels with some parkour elements. 6 Open zones and 1 final Rhea like open zone with more platforming like the koco updates. A serious toned story with a couple light hearted elements. CGI cutscenes. Good controls is a given. Make sure Sonic can always use his abilities to skip vertical platforming like SA1. Multiple playable characters. Use your momentum to make homing attacks and stomps more powerful. Gimmicks can be used to attack enemies like kicking sand in it's eyes or dropping rocks to trap the enemies. Varied music from all eras. That's all I can think of.
So, here's the perfect pitch for the perfect Sonic Game. I'm sticking with 3D specifically because with 2D, you really don't have to worry about improving it, but 3D is a different story. With 3D, gameplay styles have been so damn inconsistent that it’s led to what I'd consider mediocre or just bad. Adventure 1 and 2 had a really great control and gameplay with Sonic but then multiple mandatory playable characters that should've been at least a bonus mode, made worse with the sequel (Looking at you Knuckles and Rogue), Heroes, effectively did the same structure as Adventure 2 but somehow made it more monotonous, hellish and what fans consider the most divisive game in the franchise, and then there's Shadow the Hedgehog and 06... we don't talk about those. Then there's the boost games with Unleashed (both PS3 and PS2), Colours (Wii only), Generations (HD only), and Forces, what I would consider the better 3D games (PS2 Unleashed is just so damn good, I actually enjoy it more than the PS3 Unleashed), then there's Lost World, and I'm gonna go out and say this is the best controlling Sonic has felt, it's actually near-perfect (The Spin Dash alone makes this game an absolute blast), and finally, there's Frontiers, the game that was left such a bad taste in my mouth that I left the franchise altogether (and still an Ex-Sonic fan to this day). So here's where I'm going with all of this. What if we just combined as much of the aspects of every 3D Sonic Game and placed them into one, I call this game Sonic Foresight. Now you're already questioning, "How would it be done?" Fairly simply. You have multiple playable characters, but instead of all them being mandatory for some final stage/boss, they’re just there from the start with being only to change up your preference a la Super Mario 3D World. Each of the playable characters are reminiscent of the gameplay styles: Sonic plays like the typical boost formula of PS3 Unleashed, Colours, Gens, Forces, and Frontiers, but adjusted for the other characters; Shadow would play exactly like in Adventure 1 and 2 with expansions of his moveset from Heroes and Shadow (Minus the guns since he really doesn't need them), i.e. while he’s in his spin dash state, you could tap the button to cancel into the rocket accel that, while not as fast as spindashing, can be cancelled into a jump, even while launched off the edge of a platform, or you could rotate the left stick rapidly while charging a spin dash could allow him to perform a grounded Tornado Attack from Heroes; Silver would adopt the Lost World style, not particularly fast but incredibly acrobatic, especially with the psychokinetic powers, with many of the techniques of the Wii U and 3DS versions (I've only played a demo of the 3DS version but I know there's a move exclusive to that version called the somersault which was used for stunning badniks) and adjust the parkour to be more user-friendly; and Blaze, plays specifically like Unleashed PS2, much more heavier turns and segmented boosting as opposed to continuous with Sonic. I've also thought of the potential of a DLC character in the form of Metal Sonic or Jet or even a one-off return of Johnny from Rush Adventure, but I'll be leaving it at that. As far as the story and the lore go, I'd say don't bother with them too much. Sonic story has always been a clusterfudge since Adventure 2, and it never got much better in Frontiers. But since I've already taken this long building up a comment for a Sonic game that might not even exist, the basic plot is that during a fight on the moon, Super Sonic, Shadow, Silver and Burning Blaze are up against Eggman's newest and toughest mech yet. The Hedgehog trio raise their hands and unleash Chaos Control to transport the mech and Eggman to the edge of the universe with all 7 Chaos Emeralds, but Eggman had the foresight (See what I did there?) And counteract with a mighty laser beam. Blaze quickly rushes to stop the blast, amplifying herself with the 7 Sol Emeralds to reach lightspeed and shield the trio from the blast, but it proved too much, and the blast was powerful enough to not only pierce all our heroes but completely shatter the emeralds to dust. Our heroes, barely conscious, reverted to their base forms, and with a brutal punch, they’re all sent flying so fast that they travel across different alternate futures, crash landing into said future. With a long journey ahead to get back home, they must head back to the universe in which they belong. For the music, I'm gonna make this very brief, put Kenichi Tokoi to conpose. He has made the best music of the entire franchise, hands-down (And as far as vocal tracks go, they’re kinda overrated, It Doesn’t Matter (SA1 and 2)? Nah. Live and Learn? Nope. All the vocal tracks by Kellen Quinn? Not even close.) And that's basically it. It's a Sonic game that really focuses on the gameplay, and the story is next to non-existent. And frankly, it's the best direction the series should be taking. It might be controversial, but it could be absolutely worthwhile.
First thing to make the perfect sonic game, don't let sonic team make it, don't even let them touch it. Just give it to the fans if you have too. Just don't let sonic team make it.
So, let's make a good Sonic game, am I right?
Seriously, let's make one.
Show me your thoughts in the comments haha...

SA3 really needs to be a thing
okay so my best game would be a game released in 2004 for Game boy Advance with momentum based gameplay, muiltiple characters and great music... hmmm
Sonic Advance 3 huh?

Naw, they just need a bigger budge from SEGA. They've cooked before, they can do it again.
@@Brianycusyea your right, I just wish it didn't feel like a gamble with each game they make these days.
