Yup, same thing for me. I ended up just giving a best estimate to complete the part when I created my own, but I see that I wasn't crazy and the dimension was actually missing.
I find this whole exercise extremely frustrating. First of all, the nozzle is not referenced to be 2.4" from centerpoint to axis of symmetry. Secondly, the 2.23REF dimension is not accurate either for Sections A and C. Notice how he uses the tangent constraint ( At 6:30) to ensure the top of the C section touches the top of the hemisphere and that everything is flush. This clashes with the idea that the center hole is 2.23" from the bottom. Moreover, this forces you to make the center hole concentric with the previous circular sketch (At 9:15), which again, if you use 2.23, makes it NOT concentric.
Yeah same here, the documentation is simply not correct. Furtherore he keeps selecting BREP surfaces and using delete surface function which is a huge no no in CAD modeling.
At 7:24 when you dimension the distance between the centers of circles to be 1.75 shouldn't it be 1.5 according to the drawing in the beginning? I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything
SOLIDWORKS and that is a detail that is going to do some effect on the final fillets. So god no longer is in details but the devil. I love taking these ModelMania as practice to be a better SW user.
@@Felceaz Hey with the correct 1.5" spacing of that feature, were you not able to finish all the fillets on the phase 2 portion? I can't get the .188 fillets on the edges of those 3 extruded features.
Hi I qm not able to extrude cut at the last from the previous sketch.I click the extrude cut and selected the sketch but it wan't give me to select axis and contours
yeah the blueprint is wrong, the dimention is down by 0.1 inches in the finished model from the video, either those circles are not concentric or the rounding of the program fooled us, 2.23'' to the middle center must be wrong.
Anyone add a material and confirm the mass? I used alloy steel and got a mass of 4.27 lbs after the final modifications. And please add the length of the cylindrical boss to the drawing!
Martin07031 Dragging with the middle mouse button can accomplish that. Alternately, you can use the arrow keys and hold down shift to rotate in 90 degree increments.
SOLIDWORKS Yes, but I never get that exact mark on the screen like you while rotating (the vertical arrows don't appear). I'm clicking my mouse wheel but it rotates in all directions. You're moving with the body only from the right to the left. How can I move just like that? I'm using Solidworks 2013. Thank you.
@@Martin07031I don't think you need it anymore given the time passed or maybe it's useful for others who read, however right click on the graphics area and you find "rotate around the vertical axis"
I am unable to extrude for some reason I get an error message that says bosses cannot have both open and closed contours and now I'm stuck I've redrawn the tangents and I can't seem to move forward. I am working in 2019 Solidworks and selected contours doesn't allow me to do this without the thin feature...I was wondering if this is still possible without having to trim the geometry as that is the only way I can proceed correctly
+ivan stoqnov It's possible you don't that material in your library. If you follow the instructions in this comment, you can see a variety of materials to add.
Excellent video: Where can you get the drawings for the Model Mania videos? I would like to have the drawings print and practice from the print drawings!!
1. How did you know that the hole is 1in in ? It doesn´t sa it anywhere on the drawing. 2. You keep selecting BREP surfaces, that´s a huge NO NO in any modeling software. 3. Where is it dimensioned to be 2.4in ? This is simply missing as well. 4. Same with deleting faces, WTF is that ? Quick and Dirty
... the drawing link in your blog is missing the 2.40 dimension for the 6deg inclined boss.
I was baffledby that too!
@@eartheartbaratheon791 Me too!
I had the same mistake.
Literally didn't understand what I was missing! Was going mental!
@@TheScottGordon same for me, then I saw the dimension on the video ...
Why does the drawing shown in this video include the 2.40" dimension, but the Solidworks website drawing for this does not include it?

the 2.4 of the cylinder
Thank you for sharing solution. But there are drawing mistake 2.23 REF and missing dimension 2.4 mm extrusion length for cylinder :(
May I get the dimension 2.4" added to CAD drawings

Failed in creating fillet. I wish SW can avoid those fillet errors instead of completed the fillet in separated features.

13:35 is the value 2.4 mentioned in the drawing?
yeah cant find that dimension
