I really think 34" is the best choice if you want a slightly bigger and wider monitor without taking up too much space

Just as the other comments have mentioned, you’ve made me laugh lol And thank you sooo much for not talking about small matters like HDR, ghosting, etc that are not as important as YOUR experiences with the monitor. coming from 16:9 144-240hz panels I just purchased a MSI 343cqr and couldn't be happier. as you say the 1000r curve is surreal and makes it so appealing to watch content like movies in ultrawide. I think if you liked the Samsung monitor I would give MSI a call and see if you can get your hands on a 343 for review.

Another great video team, I'm using the iiyama g-master gb3466wqsu-b1 which is a fantastic monitor for its price, doesn't seem to be reviewed as much as other monitors for some reason, iiyama monitors were great years ago in the old CRT days then things went quiet with them. I mean the 165 if u aint playing competitive gaming is not that important as i see it, u can be fine with 75hz monitor, idk

    Hello, Gear Seeker!
I'm trying to decide between this one and the Gygabyte G34WQC PLEASE HELP!! The deciding factor here would be down to the curvature for me! I would find a way around the shitty stand of the Odyssey, no problem there. The Gygabite sounds life a safer bet, but if the bigger curvature on the Odyssey improves the gaming experience then I'd go for it instead!! My priority is definitely the gaming experience.
Could you please share your thoughts on the difference between the curvature? Is it outright better? Is it too much and unecessary? (If it helps my main focus here is FPS and SIM racing). Thank you!

I can't understand why Samsung is lazy on getting GSYNC certs for their monitors and TV's. Here they have a monitor that supports it. Yet it's not listed as such and the majority of customers have an NVIDIA card, why leave that out, while the 27" and 32" G5 say on the box that they support GSYNC. Thanks for the video and honest opinion, now I know it works with GSYNC.

I bought the Gigabyte 34" ultrawide back in December and absolutely love it. There is a bit of backlight bleed around the edges of black screens, but I otherwise haven't noticed it at all whilst gaming. I'm not a competitive gamer by any stretch, so take it with a grain of salt, but I've been playing Borderlands 3 and Outriders lately and the monitor seems to keep up pretty well during the most chaotic of gunfights with no noticable ghosting. Color accuracy isn't 100% perfect so it's not ideal for visual design work. If you're getting it as a primary gaming monitor, however, I'm pretty confident you're going to enjoy it. I know you asked for a comparison between the Samsung & Gigabyte, but I can't offer that - what I can tell you is I think you made a solid choice with the Gigabyte monitor, especially if you got it anywhere near MSRP. If the Samsung is technically better, I sincerely doubt it's $150-200US better. Just my opinion (the value of which is dubious at the best of times, heh). I sincerely hope you enjoy your new monitor and it arrives pixel-perfect.

I have the Odyssey g7 27" monitor and I've had quite a few issues with it. Which is annoying because the display itself is very good. Hopefully Samsung improved the quality with this one.

@@coffeeaddictgaming2883 it's worth noting I got it when the monitor when it first released back in July or August 2020. Still haven't figured out how to update the software I should probably do that.
An issue that arose pretty quickly was the screen going completely black, the only way to restore the image was to power cycle the monitor. I had a very similar issue not long later emerge where the display would flicker off and on rather fast, there are probably videos of it on UA-cam.
I noticed the black screen would happen only after the monitor had been on for a while so I think it was something to do with overheating. As for the rapid black screen flickering I realised that was triggered particularly when looking at noisy green pixels such as the grass in Minecraft. I actually have a meme video on my channel of me dying trying to do a water bucket fall, I actually died because as I jumped the screen went black looking at the grass.
Aside from those two there is the annoying gsync flickering which was widely reported at release and really noticeable. Also ghosting or the Corona effect I think it's called, but that I don't notice it too much.

I just picked up the AOC ~equivalent. IMO the AOC is much better than this Samsung G5 based on your review. The stand is superb and it comes with USB etc. I actually got this and the MSI monitor and ended up sending the MSI one back as I could VESA mount this more easily plus it was just better features.
PS. do you have any recommended programs etc for working on an ultrawide?

my LG just broke after 3 years (ngl, pissed of), The thing I'm scared the most about VA panels is the color accuracy. Especially since I do sometimes photoshop/texture creation (substance suite).
Appart from the VA panel, the rest is super good.

With the Samsung you do have to download the upgrade file off Samsung normally that would fix it

I'd love to see a comparison between this and the viotek gn34c [or the VIOTEK GNV34DBE since it's the updated model with 144hz] ( it also uses a samsung panel) at a much lower price ($350 shipped in the US).

@@tehgusbus2716 I don't like the G9! It's very unpractical! There are even less games that support that aspect ratio than 32:9! Also a lot of movies are formatted for 21:9, so having a 21:9 monitor will be perfect for watching movies! I hate that Samsung is neglecting 21:9 users! They must have been smoking something strong to have conceived the 32:9 version before the 21:9!
