    Just a heads up, but I think Amazon done goofed their listing for the LG 34GP83A-B. The link in the description takes you to a page for the 34WP65C-B VA panel monitor instead. It's not the link's problem, though. I bought the 34GP83A-B last year, and when I check my Amazon history, it takes me to the wrong product (VA monitor).
    However, they are selling the 34GN850-B which is the same monitor as the 34GP83A-B, and it's on sale for $599.

    Alienware AW3423DWF, perhaps it came out a little after your video, £930 for a 34 inch UWQHD QD OLED, (there's a G-sync version available AW3423DW) although the DWF works better with Nvidia GPU's. Since the June 23 firmware update you now get HDR 1000 out of the box. Grey to grey response time 0.1ms black to white response time 2.2ms, a quick Google and 7 out of 8 tech reviews have this as the best gaming monitor. It also does movies, the most cinematic viewing experience and considerably cheaper than the $1300 LG IPS nano which looks terrible in comparison. If you can't stretch to an OLED then a good VA is definitely the way to go.

      @@Eduardo1007 but then screen tearing does come into effect and I would rather avoid that. I think it's the fact that this monitor simply doesn't have the internal power to perform adaptive/g-sync functions and that results in the flicker. No other ultrawide out there has this issue.

  • @Rauzwel
    @Rauzwel Рік тому +23

    I bought the Dell S3422DWG for $400. I really enjoyed the picture quality, but playing anything below 100fps is a real no-go. I can't play games locked to 60 like Skyrim without terrible ghosting making it a terrible experience, I've tried everything. Hoping I'm able to return it, I'm literally RIGHT at the 30 day mark. One HUGE disclaimer for this monitor is that you can only play modern games on it/games with unlocked framerates, even 60 is hard to manage. Also keep in mind, when your PC starts to age, you may not be able to push the same amount of frames. Considering it's a budget monitor, I doubt you'd upgrade your whole PC just to keep your monitor relevant. Just splurge on something with an IPS display with lower ghosting and official G-Sync support, it'll save you a lot of hassle.

      Ghosting? Isn't that like normal 60fps experience after enjoying high refresh rates? Or is there any issues with 60fps on that particular panel?

    • @mozametweakin
      @mozametweakin 2 місяці тому

      My problem wasn’t low fps, as my computer is good, my problem was motion clarity (especially with blacks). Though returning it, I recently got the same monitor. For a lot of people, I think the monitor is great, especially if you don’t really play competitive games. I came from a 170hz ips, which has great response times/ motion clarity. The response times are good, but I’m not sure why the motion is just not as clear as the ips (at least more of a difference than 144-170hz would make). Besides that, the most noticeably bad thing by far is the black response time. One great in game example is if you have a bunch of trees on a bright blue sky. If you move around, the black smear was horrible. I absolutely hate the point where ultrawides are right now, because all of the cheaper ones sacrifice something. I know this should be expected becuase they are cheap, but it seems there is no middle ground with them. You either have to sacrifice something and spend 400 usd, or sacrifice basically nothing but spend 1000. I found one cheap ips ultra wide, but the sacrifice is that it’s not curved. My current monitor is flat, and the first time I played on a curved one was the ultraiwde dell, but I think 34” has to be at least slightly curved for it to be usable.

It’s better then the Asus you had in this video and also better than the LG that you had at #3 and I had bought mine at Micro Center for $1200 around February 2022. I really don't know. Coming from 1080p gaming to something bigger and better to include productivity I had thought 1440p would be the way as 4k is a bit overkill. At 1600p I was hell bent on a 38" LG or dell but they are so much more expensive. Perhaps 34" is still a bit small for me for reading text. Wish Elden Ring among other games supported more ultra wide formats. Maybe I can cheat on 1600p with less black bars.

    I have 2 of the Asus VA ultrawide. It has freesync, yes, but it has the worst brightness flicker that I have ever seen. The lower the fps, the worse it is. I would not recommend this monitor for gaming, specially for people who want freesync or gsync.

    You obviously have the right to discern which monitors are in the top five, but you did leave out two monitors that are objectively better in most regards if not all.
    On the AW3423DW I heard your reasoning about the potential for burn in for OLED , but seeing that burn in issues are very rare compared to the millions of panels that are sold PLUS the 3 year warranty they have it should have been included ...
    And the other monitor (The PG35VQ) is a no questions asked the best of the best ultrawide monitor out of all of these that you listed. It has been the King since 2019.
    So these two monitors I feel definitely people should have known about and been on your list because they are the best and we do not know exactly what may or may not fail on all of the monitors listed, but with a 3-year warranty that's better than probably any of those monitors above...

    I tried the Gigabyte monitor and returned it within a week. It wasn't worth the money saved for the amount of colour bleed or the horrible contrast. I tried an LG that again I wasn't satisfied with the performance for the money I paid, then I tried an HP OMEN monitor, it again had so many corners and features cut that I didn't feel it was worth the money. I finally got my ASUS VG34VQL3A UltraWide and it's amazing, I paid $550 Canadian back in January, 2024 at Best Buy. It was more than both the other monitors but I realized I needed to spend more to get what I wanted. Gone are the days of being able to buy a budget monitor and still enjoy the experience, they've gone and made these "cheap" monitors so unuseable that most people have no choice to spend hundreds more. That being said I feel like I got a great monitor for a great price.

      Amazon will protect you if anything were to happen. If the monitor breaks during shipping amazon will allow you to return and replace it for free. If you don't like the monitor after it arrives it is also covered by a 30 day return policy (I am talking about the #1 spot monitor I am not sure about the others)
