Yea if you're braindead and don't care of your cars. If you do, and maintain it properly as the manufacturer recommends, you'll have a car that will be like new in 30 years from now.
The remarks such as "buying the real estate between the lights" and "are you repo-ing yachts with this thing" elevate this channel from a technical review masterpiece to borderline Jeremy Clarkson levels of funny.
Long time viewer and podcast listener - I think this video is a perfect example of doing ENOUGH. Not doing TOO much, or spending too much time/effort and not getting the return. This isn't a movie quality stuff here, and that's okay! This video is SO well done. It gets the information across in a way that's easy to digest, it's entertaining, and it's not 45 minutes long. Nice job including the press footage in the edit too. It adds a much needed variety to the video. Use this video as a case study! Assuming ZK enjoyed this formula from start to finish, repeat it!
Great review as always. As an MB nerd this car is both fascinating and terrifying. This much complexity will no doubt be a maintenance nightmare out of warranty, but I’m sure this thing is a blast. For those of us that are nowhere near the intended tax bracket of S63 buyers, could we please get a review of the new 4 cylinder C43 soon Zack??
@@christmasisawesome9348Mercedes announced that the 2026 C63 will have a V8, they are bringing it back due to the dissatisfaction. MB should have put this power plant in the C63, no one would have complained and they would have saved face.
As the owner of a 07 S63 that thing is nuts, I bought my S63 about 2yrs ago & yes it has had some issues, but on the open road it's f..king glorious, thanks for the video, Rj in Oz
This really shows that there are legacy automakers that have the capabilities to build such complicated cars. In the world of electric cars some could say that this is almost unnecessary but imagine what we haven’t seen yet from people like these! That’s proper engineering!
I have had a 2019 S63 for a few years now and love the car. They are actually pretty easy to work on for things like brakes and oil changes. The 4.0 in mine has been bulletproof and I have not really had too many issues with the car. I purchased a 2019 because I actually like the W222 looks much better, plus it is probably the last true V8 S Class we will ever see, plus I only paid around 110K for a 1 year old example with 9K miles on it. I would bet this one as demoed is close to 200K if not more.
None of those EVs have the sound this does and for most the choice is much simpler because of that V8 noise. Never thought I would say this however HP isn't everything! Awesome Review Zack
The videos recently have been absolute benchmark stuff. Really first class. Beautifully presented, shot and edited. Oh, and those Globes are badass! 😎 👍🏻
Being passenger in the regular s63 is insane, i could only imagine what this feels like. Also, silent prayer for the 3rd+ owner of this car off warranty.

Shame you didn’t say that it has a boot space of Toyota Yaris. I am driving this car right now and TBH it makes no sense :(. Driven C63S recently with 4 pot engine as well and I am starting to worry about AMG in general.
This is both an enginnering marvel and a technological time-bomb, all those screens and computers will not age well. With that said: Excellent stuff, Zack!
This S63 did not need to be a hybrid and add 1000lbs... It should've just had the 630HP from the AMG GT63S and it would've been perfectly fine. Maybe a 48volt belt driven motor as the started and give it an extra umpf but it did not need to be this Frankenstein of a car.
$190K base buys a Blackwing/M5/E63 plus lots of options for a weekend driver. I get its about image but seems like this car does nothing great. Too heavy/big to be a driver's car. Too stiff to be a limo. Looks spectacular though.
Really not feeling the grille. Don’t mind the vertical slats too much (still prefer the horizontal) but an S-Class isn’t an S-Class without the emblem on the hood. I get the marketing approach with the Mercedes sub-brands but it just doesn’t seem fitting for this car. It also looks like an after thought. Great review!
Its a luxury spaceship. Teleports you and your passengers to a different dimension with all the thrust and tech that the world has to offer. And it costs "if you have to ask you can't afford it" money.
So it looks like an A class with some bits, weighs nearly 6000lbs, and it'll be used by the wives of rich folks to drive to starbucks every day. Oh and it'll explode after the warranty is up thanks to all that tech. Sounds like modernity in a nutshell. Excellent video as always though TST!
The biggest problem with making fast S-classes is that they are too long. RWD steering doesn't help the fact they are longer than most trucks. Makes more sense to go Electric so you get a silent cabin AND blistering acceleration.
This really feels like a car marking the end of an era. When the powertrain needs this much complexity and space to keep up with BEV performance, and with Mercedes quickly expanding their electric offerings, the end of gigantic ICE luxury performance cars is near. Soon ICEs may not have a place other than in lightweight sports cars.
This car is ridiculous but I disagree that ICEVs need this level of complexity to beat BEV performance. No one sells a high performance luxury barge with a simple powertrain anymore so we have nothing to compare. The simple cars disappeared decades ago because of marketing gimmicks and rules. I have a BEV but I'll always appreciate the simplicity of my W108.
@@JuanPabloRiojasGaming The pure EV mode allows an ICEV car to skirt the tax rules in some places. The feature is pointless for most people but I think a vehicle needs to have a pure EV mode to be comparable in this situation.
$180,000 vs. $115,000 for the S500. Some people will buy this: Oil sheihks in Dubai probably. Other than that, who here in America will buy one at a 7% lease rate?
My question: What if u never plug it in? Will it still run? And what is the demerits of doing that? Will it just eventually turn into a regular S 580 carrying/dragging 1000 extra pounds ! Please clarify…🚗 r getting really complicated …. I wonder what long term service or a major wreck costs would be 😂😢
I really like the design language of the new C and S class. Beautiful sedans especially in AMG version. This s63 is really good in the other aspects too, shame the same cant be said about the c63.
Everything is perfect except for the front grille. I prefer the horizontal grille that's specific to the S63 on the W222 and W221. The vertical style grille makes it appear as an E-class sedan until you take a closer look.
I remember working and we just got a S63E in, next day gone then we gotten the Edition 1 and people are fighting over it that we put a 50k mark up on it
Incredible time we live in. However, how are they ever going to lower the cylinder number and give in more power? This is shooting in AMG's future foot!
@@tehgzizlauw1787 yes, because that is completely counter-intuitive.
