We've finally upgraded the PS5 Clicky hair triggers kit to be compatible with both BDM-020 & BDM-010 version controllers.
VERY IMPORTANT: In 04:04 and 25:11we cut the cables of the adaptive triggers motors, this is NOT a necessary operation, there are 2 advantages of this operation: 1. avoid the tackling sound from the motors; 2. increase the battery life.

Had a problem with L2 being stuck, posting the fix for future peeps. There was a person who had to raise the button with glue but I had the opposite problem. At first I thought it wasn’t clicking but in looking inside with a flashlight I realized mine was stuck clicked in. 33:53 in the diagram the little red bit, the part that sticks out flat and points to the front of the button (it’s going back to the right in the diagram). That piece was too low to the button and made it stay clicked in. I used 320 grit sandpaper, just what I had around, and shaved that down a decent bit. Just the middle bit, didn’t touch the forks sticking up. Hope that helps someone someday
Bro, I don’t know where you from.. but you helped me so much with that sandpaper.. I it stay clicked in exactly how you described it.. but now it works perfect.. also installed the back buttons .. took me 4 whole hours in total shame on me hahah.. have a nice day and thanks again !
Thank you so much for troubleshooting this! Spent two hours looking for a solution and stumbled upon your comment. Robert you are a legend.
Can confirm this problem as well. I used a file and made four passes per piece and now it works perfectly. Definitely upvote this post.
I just finished adding the clicky triggers. Let's see how long it last. As a precaution I did a screenshot of you comment. Thx Dude
Thank you! This fixed my issue with the L2 button. Legend!
i love that you make ALL the process, i dont trust myself to to the other side based on the one i just did hhahah, I love how the tactile sounds!!!
are the little 4 adapter pieces which go into the trigger L2 and R2 all suppose to be same orientation? The triggers themselves have left/right slots, so i can't use the same 4 inserts in both sides of the controller.
If you have an issue with the button engaging and having to hold the rod and push for it to act normal, try another one of the adapters they provide. 2 of mine were off by a 15th of a mm which was juuuust thick enough to engage when under slack. Or you could sand them down slightly if all have this issue
I look at everybody vid the screws aren’t on top of mine
If I don't want to have the L2 and R2 trimmed, but I do want to have the mod for L1 and R1.
Are there any steps I can skip?
The click don't sound feels like it's always pressed down
I was testing out my controller while it was apart and i think i made the mistake of unplugging the battery while the usbc cable was connected because now its not turning on wben i plugg the controller in. And i tried another battery
For the L1 R1 the plastic peace doesnt fit in
i did everything in the video but my L2 and L1 arent working in game
Did you canceled the vibration and the haptic options in the ps5 system? I Saw that Somewhere...
After installing the kit, my L1 button was loose, any reason why that happened? Any way to fix it?
Man these bdm-020 triggers are really ticking me off. L1 went ok once I got the cog just right but r1 that's a whole different story. No matter how I set the cog and arm the metal post is still tp loose and the button won't click
I have the rise 4.0 back buttons and I bought these and now my controller won't turn on. I've rebuilt it twice and nothing. Are these not compatible or something? 020 controller
Hey guys I bout one of these sets for my self and all was going great until it came to putting the black parts in the trigger it seemed at my controller was build different and didn’t sit right any help would be greatly appreciated
having same issue right now.
@@xxSnowman250xx did you ever fix it cause i have the same problem right now too
That’s where I got stuck and gave up
Hello from Russia, please help! I want to install this device and backlight. at 10:25 you put the main flex cable on, the glow device has the same one. Do they need to be stacked on top of each other? Thanks!
In this video (ua-cam.com/video/QzSqI_qsKXM/v-deo.html)
i do not have those screws in the front that you can detach the triggers with? can’t find one video without them i’m so fucking confused
Is it normal that the L2 and R2 triggers have a bit of flex when fully pressed down?
When you say flex what do you mean? They should only press ever so slightly
Cap
It goes way to fast go find another video no explanation either it sucks
Hello- I keep having an issue with L2/R2 not maintaining the ability to click. I will finish the install with it working, only to have these buttons stop working within a few days, causing me to re-do the install. Why would that be the case? This is with the BDM-010 version and I have confirmed it is correct for my controller.
I also noticed int his version of the BDM-010, you didn't install the plastic bracket over the new ribbon cable for the triggers. Was that on purpose? Your other videos have this piece being installed.
@@Knuck773 Hi, when you press the triggers hard on the old version, the L2 R2 tact switches may possibly slide up, and this causes the issue. In this version, we use the gears of the controller to stop the L2 R2 go down too far as we did at 13:32, so we don't need the plastic bracket you mentioned in this version
I just put together mine, I figured while i got my trigger mechanism apart I could fully remove the motor, it's two screws and I just had to remove the plastic gear on the motor shaft with a pair of flush cutters then reassembled like normal, it cuts a good bit of weight and now no waste when looking into my transparent shell
I feel like this video is just not a accurate video of what the guys at home are experiencing. I have that controller but I can’t get it to work. I can’t get that piece to fit down in the shoulder button to save my life I mean it could be a freaking demon outside, ready to kill me and my family and will be dead because I couldn’t get it in there.
😂 based
Overall, the product does what it supposed to do, but there are major design flaws that can be fixed. After the install I was left with mushy feeling buttons for L2 & R2. The first time playing with the Clicky Triggers broke (R2) within 4 hours of use. I took it apart to troubleshoot, and I noticed on the ribbon cable that the R2 button switch was completely destroyed and flattened. I notified Extremerate, and they shipped out the replacement very quickly.
Now the cause... After disabling the haptic feedback motors (optional) and setting the gear position as instructed from Extremerate to reassemble everything. It leaves way too much play in between the L2, R2 buttons, and the point of contact with the switches on the ribbon cables. Now the trigger stops that connect to the haptic gears inside get pushed back in which causes the L2, R2 buttons to press too hard on the switches in which they get destroyed in a matter of time.
What I did to solve the issue was to fuse the haptic gears permanently after I received the replacement ribbon cable. I set the gear position exactly as Extremerate instructed which is a very important step for reassembly. I placed some Super Glue to hold the gear position and allowed it to completely dry. I then used a soldering iron with a flat soldering tip to fuse both gears together. I tested everything, and it turned out to be a perfect success. Mushy buttons went bye-bye, and the L2, R2 buttons now have much reduced travel in between presses, and can feel the triggers actually stopping.
My recommendation to Extremerate is to release some kind of gear stop device for the haptic gears, because your current setup instruction does not work for stopping the L2, R2 trigger buttons causing damage to the ribbon cable switches, or you can create another trigger stop that can plug into the two unused open sqaure holes on the back of the L2 & R2 buttons preventing over pressing (BDM-010). Thanks Extremerate for the quick replacement, and I also did a review on Amazon. I hope this helps for future products.
did you put the plugs in ? and clock the gear correctly mine are flawless
@@x_ultra6628 Yes, I did before I decided to fuse the gears. Now everything is flawless.
@@Iron-Soul so is that needed after a bit then ?
@@x_ultra6628 If your buttons aren’t mushy, I would leave it alone. Once, you do this type of fix there is no going back.
@@Iron-Soul cool if it goes mushy then i will worry about it thx for the input
Which version is the mouse click sound one because there are 3 versions
trying to fit these now bdm 010 but none of the plastic parts fit into the l2 r2 buttons ????/ please help
Fix for some folks - if you bought new trigger caps and they dont match the instructions for the BDM-010 in this video (missing the two squares for you to put the black striker plug in) its because the caps are the newer model. Just check out the BDM-020 side of this video and you'll see what to do. Works 100% fine. I installed the Rise 4 and the trigger kit in the same go - couldnt of been easier, very happy.
flaw in the l2 and r2 triggers, the plastic piece provided doesn't fit the model i have. already cut the haptic wires thanks, wasted a controller
What happens if you leave the motors connected, and the adapter triggers engage in a game when you've repositioned the gear? Is it harmless to the controller?
That's what I would like to know.
@ExtremeRate - I have this tackling sound issue, is only resolution is to complete the optional step of cutting the two wires to the motor? Any other way to resolve without cutting just in case I need to put back to OEM? TIA
There’s something left out I this video. The trigger doesn’t reach the switch
If I just wanted my L1 and R1 to click would I just skip everything and start at 19:40 or would I have to do the whole process?
Would also like to know
am I wrong or did you guys completely forget a step. I almost broke my control because it never showed be the screws under the motherboard.
Bro broke his control ☠️
Is the instal EXACTLY the same for the upgraded (blue) clicky buttons ?
I have buy 2 but clicky is not longer working well stag...bad product
What is the difference between standard and tactile version?
The part where the thing went inside of the trigger to connect with the clicky thing, I don’t have a slot for that part , you need to update this
Did you find a solution? Having that same issue
3:47 my ps5 controller does not have these four screws... I cannot find a video anywhere with a controller like mine. Please advise. Thanks.
Same😢😢😢
I have a Sharq controller with mouse click triggers, my R2 doesn't work consistently anymore and that company is out of business. Do you think I can use this to swap out the R2?
Just opened up the controller and it seems like they did some soldering in the inside and might've changed the triggers themselves. I didn't want to take it apart completely since I don't know how to solder and couldn't get the back side of it off without removing the soldered wires.
Hello I recently purchased and installed but my L2 and L1 don’t work for some reason
My L1 and R1 are loose after. You could shake the controller and hear it. Is this common?
I have the same with R1
Yes it’s normal for the L1 and R1 to rattle a little, the rubbers on the standard bumpers aren’t there any more, it shouldn’t affect any functionality though
Ensure you put the plastic piece on the L1 and R1 I forgot to put mine and it made a noise soon as I put the plastic pieces in it stopped. No noise.
My l2r2 buttons are hard to press down and don't aim or shoot consistently the just stop then I have to let go of the triggers and start again . Any help much appreciated
This kit definitely does not work for the BDM 010. Now I have a controller all ripped apart and gotta decide to put it back to stock or try and find another kit that actually fits
It does though
C e un errore in questo video.....ovvero non mette il fermo alla scheda che inserisce per i tasti l1 e r1
Is there a reason why my L2 sounds different to the R2?
R2 sounds nice like an actual mouse click, but the L2 sounds a bit off.
Same lol and my L2 and L1 don’t work for some off reason
So these kits work on bdm-010 too? The listings on Amazon say they just fit ZCT1*A.
my l2 got stuck at one point but i ended up fixing it but now both triggers are no longer clicky. im thinking about getting these for another controller so hopefully the updated stuff is better
Hi, please reposition the flex cable to make the triggers clicky again. If the problem stands still, please contact our customer at info@extremerate.com
try hot glue to lift the metal rod so that the button can still be pressed
@@ChummyBoy i mean idc too much ab it anymore bc the controller already has stick drift like crazy but when tht did happen it was annoying and i took apart the controller to fix the stuck trigger
Controller stops working in game, fine in ps menus, any solution?
Well everything works after putting it together but now there’s a mechanical sound that is always there
That’s the motor that’s the optional part of cutting the wires
hi I just installed this kit, all the triggers work fine, but there is always a sound and same like a little movement inside on left side of my controller as soon as I turn on my controller (I believe it is from L2),may I know what was that or is there are something wrong with my install?
Hi, have you found a solution?
yeah same
@@itsskyzy177 ya press the black wheel cog to hard in
Ribbon connections are extremely brittle and easy to break. Buyer beware.
installed clicky hair trigger kit and back paddles on BDM-020. I played a game. turned off ps5, turned it back on, tried to play a different game and buttons dont function inside game. I tried multiple games all with the same result. I can navigate outside of games but stuck when i open a game to play. please help
Same here, any way to fix?
@@drummond2579 not exactly sure why it does it. I opened it back up to ensure everything was connected correctly which it was. Tried again and it worked. I think it just takes a second to register.
Which games? Vangard has an option to desable thé haptic feeling of the triggers..of tournés on, you Can aim but can't shoot...
there is an issue with nearly every one of these kits to where the triggers wont maintain the click effect. I have built 10-15 controllers with these and i make sure to put some hot glue under the metal rod that holds the L2/R2 in place, this keeps the trigger lifted enough so that the tact switch can still be actuated. If you don't already know about this issue, i hope this gets the message across. Feel free to respond if you'd like a more in depth description. I would guess its the same issue everyone is having, thanks
It is, i can confirm with DS4 one and the pro controller one
@@psp4gamer the Ds4 doesn’t have this issue, it isn’t built the same
@@psp4gamer this is for ps5 controllers
@@InTheZoneAC No, like really? What a surprise
@@ChummyBoy I found the same issue on the other kits tho, they are built with very cheap parts. I had to swap both controllers because of this same exact reason, one pro controller is still alive, but im not hoping on seeing it working after a couple of months (Adults consoles, and adult usage)
Why are my bumpers making a clicking sound after doing this?? I don’t see why changing the plastic piece to one of the same size and shape creates this issue. Does anyone know how to fix it?
Do you have a bdm-040 version?
Question please. Are these videos “flipped” on models? I indicate BDM-10 on my controller model however the ribbons and screws are the same color as the BDM-20 on the video and not the BDM-10. I want to make sure I cut the correct one.
Hey 👋🏻 I broke my buttons… I can’t hear the clicks sound anymore … but can’t manage to find a replacement for the part L1/L2 and R1/R2 with ribbon. Could you guys help here?? Bought the kit in September and installed it last month and thought it would last a while :) my ps4 Controller still working perfect and I installed that before 2 years. Cheers
this happened to me to i eneded up just going back to the original. it should still work even without the clicking tho
@@frankreyes5731 I just make my own mouse click triggers now using real mouse switches. If extremerate would use better switches they would have an amazing product. Also on the Bdm-020 they really need to find a better solution because aligning the arm just right on the gear doesn't always work
I have set up 2 of these on BDM-020 controllers and they both suck. Neither of them click properly. It is like the triggers are depressed or partially depressed at all times. The little pad slides around inside the trigger area. I have seen some videos where there are inserts that slide in the side that force the switch forward but the kits I received don't even include these plastic inserts. What is going on with this and how do we make them work properly because these things are basically garbage as they work now.
people be warned, clicky buttons installation has to be done before you install the back buttons.
can i still do it?
Bro my ps5 inside controller doesn’t look like that I bought a new one and it still doesn’t look the same inside can you please tell me why bc I just basically wasted my money on a new controller
I’m not sure if I messed something up but when I put in the replacement button for the trigger, it doesn’t align with the hole for the pin properly. Can someone help me out?
6:20 you took out those little plastic things but nevers used them and I cant continue living without knowing what they are for...
Bro the main clicking part end does not reach the place u plug it in at and anything that he demonstrated was not their. Is it bc I have a new controller idk?
Check your motherboard and make sure it says either BDM-020 or BDM-010, if it says BDM-030 then this kit doesnt work on that model

Are there replacements for the flex cable? The button for L1 is starting to go bad. Other than that everything else seems fine.
I have a controller with the clicky hair kit, and recently i order white buttoms too, for a style change haha, but im having and issue with the triggers, at 28:02 the piece that attaches to the trigger fits in like a hole, but the white triggers i have dont have that space? if you have a tutorial for this issue i will gladly appreciate it :D or anyone with this issue.

Should I turn off haptic feedback?
yeah

Is it in planning to have a version of the trigger stop kit for the BDM-030 ps5 controller? That would be great!
Hey do you guys have a option for the ps5 controller where I can use back buttons and use a button on the side as well. I really love the scuf vantage controller a lot . You can use that as a reference. Don’t mind drilling if I have to

Will a 4 button kit similar to the decade tournament controller for ds4 be made for the dualsense?
No, similar to the RISE but with extra 2 buttons
Is this for tactile version?
